The Purple Heart Foundation
The Purple Heart Foundation exists to improve the quality of life for combat-wounded and honorably discharged veterans through direct assistance, mental health support, and community partnerships. Through the generosity of donations, including financial gifts, vehicle and clothing donations, and grants, the Purple Heart Foundation works to:
- Provide Critical Assistance Grants to honorably discharged veterans facing financial hardship and connect them to organizations that offer financial counseling, job training, and veteran benefits support.
- Offer academic scholarships to veterans and their families that fill in the gaps of the G.I. Bill.
- Provide funding for the training of service dogs and access to therapy animal resources designed to support veterans living with TBI and PTSD.
- Connect veterans to mental health programs and initiatives that make a difference in their lives after military service.

“I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to this committee for awarding me this grant to fix my vehicle. I’m a disabled veteran of the USAF and Desert Storm and separated in 1992…Since I lost my job, I wasn’t sure how I would afford to get my truck repaired, but now, thanks to your generosity, I can get it taken care of. My wife and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

“I am still in a sense of shock from seeing the notification of the acceptance of my grant request. I don’t think anyone ever expects to be in this position in their life, and yet I feel beyond blessed to have such a program to be there and help me through this time. I cannot begin to say thank you enough or even pay this back in any other way except by saying thank you. Without your help, I would have lost everything I have fought so hard to hold on to.”

“I am writing to acknowledge the Purple Heart Foundation in funding the grant for me. Thank you for your support during this difficult time…This grant has assisted me with the burden of falling behind on my bills. I was so concerned about being without lights after my surgery. This donation gives me a little more relief during my healing process.”

“I would like to take the time to say thank you for the assistance that you provided not only to myself but also to my family during a difficult and very stressful time for us. Three days after returning home from a spinal surgery, my second surgery in six weeks, my wife and I were notified that due to a divorce, we would have to move our family out of our home. Your assistance during this time is what made the difference for my family, and without your generosity, we would not have been able to not only find a home within the timeframe that we had been given also make the necessary payments or deposits that were required to guarantee that we would be able to move.”

“Today, my family and I herald our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Purple Heart Foundation. We are grateful to you for listening and answering our plea. We will now have a safe vehicle for school and all our transportation needs.”

“I am a medically retired Purple Heart recipient, as is my wife. We have spent our lives in the pursuit of assisting others in every way that we can. I spend my free time connecting struggling veterans with veteran representatives in an effort to stabilize their needs. My wife sits on the board of a non-profit while attempting to gain her master’s degree. Your grant allowed me to pay part of my mortgage payment that I could not afford due to being laid off from my job.”
Aaron
U.S. Marine Corps Purple Heart Recipient
“As a disabled veteran in an extended PTSD program, The Foundation was able to help me with my past due bills – mortgage, multiple utilities, and telephone. I just wanted to send a thank you to the Purple Heart Foundation for the grant they graciously extended to me. My heart is full of gratitude.”
