I've worn Altra shoes for the last five years. I believe they are the very best shoe for performance and good foot health. The customer service people are very knowledgeable about the product and the web site is incredibly easy to use... highly recommended!
I bought some Altras a few years ago and have worn them out, and the store is now defunct, too. So I ordered on line. The wide, platypus-like toe box was perfect for my feet but the shoes I just got are too narrow. Where are those toe boxes please?
I have purchased many different running shoes in my lifetime but these are by far the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn.
AltraRunning has perfected the toe box in their shoes- my feet don't feel like they are in little coffins anymore! I give the Escalante a 5 star rating, I am on my third pair and I love them. More importantly, my feet love them!
Great shoes! I've been through 4 pairs (three were the superior 3.0s, one Timps). I hiked the entire Appalachian Trail with Altras. I roughly got 550 miles on each pair. Probably less milage that normal wear, that trail can be tough on shoes (The White Mountains and Northern PA) these were the most comfortable shoes! Good on the knees and my feet felt great in the big toe box. Definitely try them on and talk to a specialist on sizing and technique to optimize your running.
