I bought a foldable bike and needed to communicate with their support team over a number of issues.
- The wheels came inflated and they needed me to approve either deflating them or removing them before shipping.
- After deflating the wheels, the quoted shipping price went from $130 to $440, prompting more questions from me regarding dimensions and whether or not the bicycle was folded.
- It wasn't folded but it would cost $30 to fold.
- From the dimensions provided, the price of $440 was not correctly calculated based on the formula provided, which I informed them.
- They eventually adjusted the shipping price to $330 for 2 day shipping (I opted not to have it folded in case of damage)
- The most painful thing about all of this is that they reply once a day, and it was very difficult getting through to the live chat system.
My item arrived well packed. I would not recommend using this service for the difficulty in communicating with them alone.
I used buyee about 100 times. Many items are blocked on the website for reasons not understandable. It must be some bad algorithm deciding! The customer support is also very poor and strict. The shipping rates are rather expensive and usually there is a heavy import and sales tax when the parcel arrives in the country. So it is rather expensive to use the service. If problems arise customers are often left alone. Buyee has a very strict payment policy.
Made a purchase back in november 25th, and up to this date (January 19th), I have received nothing, and tracking number shows no updated since november 29th, when it left Japan (ordered with small package AIR).
Contacted them and they basically told me that they will contact Japan post to see whats going on, but that it can take upwards to three months.
I'm going to file a dispute over at Paypal, stay away from this site.
I just ordered two figures from mercari.jp and buyee really makes the experience easy and pleasant. All i need to do is to shop as I did on US website and every cost is clear and well explained. The customer service is great and the package consolidation serve is really fast.
Hello
I recently won Japanese Sega Saturn with rare authentic Japanese games.
They have lots of stuff you could only get within Japan. In case you want to know authentic stuff with reasonable prices. Only problem is that shipping fees for combined items for cheaper affordable shipping could become expensive sometimes. I wish service fees could have been more affordable where consolidation package for more than 3 items or more could be possible.
In addition to shipping options, it would have been nice had there been more discounts available for shipping by DHL to make pricing affordable. Online chat agents are available on weekdays. Wish there were available on weekends too. Otherwise overall experience is awesome! Highly recommend..
Fantastic service, enjoy online shopping and oversea dispatch and no worry on delivery
You do not concern all step, waiting your items at home!
I buy mostly Japanese crafts, often antique, from Yahoo Japan Auctions in the range of approximately $70 to $800. The only way to buy on Yahoo Japan is through a proxy service unless you have a Japanese address.
Buyee has been very good during the past two years of buying via their service. It's wonderful to have access to tens of 1000's of pieces that otherwise I'd have no access to. And often these works are less or even much less than I could get from a brick and mortar dealer.
A drawback is that it is not easy to write to the particular online dealer and ask questions and so it helps to have some knowledge and experience. Buyee forwards the questions but between translation and time often the answers are inadequate. I don't think this could be much improved, it comes with the territory. Customer service is usually quick to reply to concerns.
It's not a perfect proxy service but I don't think one of those exists. Usually, it's easy to use and great stuff can be found. EMS (the Japanese national post/courier) is a great service and so shipping is fast and safe.
There are some inflexible aspects like not being able to withdraw a bid, or that once packages are requested to be consolidated you can't unrequest, etc. Again, this is not unexpected... given that buyee must be handling huge numbers of goods and the shipping warehouses are enormous.
Consolidation can be pricy. They don't take anything out of the packages mailed to them by the seller before consolidating in a bigger box. Not surprisingly this is often costs more money than not consolidating. It works for me when buying books and sending by sea mail... that is certainly less expensive than individually by EMS.
Most of the charges are reasonable. The exchange rate they give is not great but it comes with the territory. Overall, the many advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
I always fancy things from japan and with buyee its very easy to get anything you wanted. I would recommend anyone that wants to buy from japan to try it out.
Buyee is user friendly and quite simple to understand. Customer service is always friendly and helpful!
I recently began collecting anime merchandise, and it's very easy to navigate Buyee's website. When I have a question, responses are quick and friendly. Overall, a highly recommended proxy service!
Good website buy every week from Mercari and give discount or promotions every month ship to U. S comes fast
Thank you for a smooth and pleasant transaction. Buyee is always so easy to order items and track when items have shipped out. I like how their customer support always answers questions within a day or two. Packages are well consolidated as well. :)
Thank you buyee!"

I'm really thankful for buyee for the opportunity to buy items from JP sites
I love shopping on the Japanese resale market and Buyee makes that possible and EASY. I love how easy their site it to use. Their customer service is always prompt to answer questions, and most importantly, my items always exactly what I expect.
Buyee had provided a good delivery service in Yahoo Auction Japan for buyers outside Japan, thanks Buyee
The website ease for me to search product and it good to keep watch list, and also the information about handling and service cost, I am new user just start won auction this week
I was buyee user for a year! During this covid19 outbreak, they did the good job and never disappointed me!
Thanks!
The customer service is awful. The website UI is the worst I've used of any proxy buying service. Zenmarket or fromJapan are way better and those aren't so great either. Just avoid Buyee. It's trash
I use this service quite a lot, it's a very good service. I am glad they have the option for mercari. Shipping can be expensive, also the fees, not sure if that's there fault though. I use the service quite often.
Theres always some issue with there service. Weather they are forgetting customs forms on shipments or just the poor customer service, its always something. I wouldnt recommend unless you like headaches
Answer: It's a scam, at least to my definition. They lost an item I bought and claimed the warehouse is "preparing it". When I stated that I wanted a refund because it was lost (warehouse maintenance for 2+ weeks?), they told me tough luck and that they wouldn't do anything.
Answer: Well the thing is they do correspond with you, but either way they don´t understand what they wrote or they just having fun with writing useless sensless E-Mail which completley ignore the context of what you wrote to them before which is just frustrating for everybody, cause the might think, hey we are overseas... so what can they do right?!
Answer: Yes there is a website called neokyo but I think it no longer supports Mercari Japan. Best for Amazon japan and other websites. I've heard the shipping is a bit cheaper
Answer: One where I was really happy and wasn't drowned by fees? No.
Answer: Didn't know at the time when I used them that there were alternatives.
