I just learned of CrowdRise and have used it several times already. It is amazing and the humor used throughout their site makes the mundane come to life! Hats off to them for a great and entertaining site.
This was my first experience with an organized race to help raise funds for charity. The folks at Crowdrise, Latika in particular, was incredibly helpful. She was on the spot with answering all my questions. I LOVE the shirts, too! I get tons of comments and compliments on my Decent Human t-shirt. Great marketing. Thanks so much for making this a pleasant experience. Well done, Crowdrise!

I have often heard that there is so much good will and charitable people in this world, just waiting for the right charity, and safe and easy way to connect.
CrowdRise is precisely that perfect bridge - giving folks that need help a way to tell the world - and giving the world a chance to help, to make a difference, or to reach for the stars!
Crowdrise is totally incompatent! They have screwed up. My Husband and I are participating in the first T@T Climb at the freedom Tower. They have taken My Husband off the team and put all his donations to me>>WTH. I have spent day trying to fix with their online support FLACO! Still not right. The donors are pissed off. Making us look like fools NEVER AGAIN!
So I was recently diagnosed with MS, bummer. I decided to do a joint birthday/announcement to all of my friends and family to receive a donation rather than buying me a gift or drink. Was thinking if I worked hard I could get to $2,000. I hit $1,000 in an hour with final amount being over $8,000.
CrowdRise team was great. I reached out to them for advice and they not only recommended me a few MS organizations to choose (I wanted an org where most the money would go to research, not administration), they even helped and created a Custom Template for my page to have a feel more appropriate to me. Also nice not having to handle all of the cash and donations myself using their system.
I will definitely use them for my next fundraiser.
I had heard of Crowdrise and saw it used for the Boston Marathon but never had my own fundraiser. Then I found out you could launch a fundraiser for yourself through them (instead of just raising money for a specific charity) and decided to give it a try. I must say, it was way more successful than I thought it would be and true to their claims, they made it super fun. The customer service was awesome, and I found that people actually WANTED to share my fundraiser. I wasn't getting random donations from strangers pouring in, but I was getting donations from friends of friends that I had never met but loved the cause. I listened to Crowdrise and made the campaign fun and I think it really worked. I always appreciate when a company seems to truly care about what they do and I think Crowdrise really does. I'll use them again for sure.
These folks reply like your best friend in a good mood :)
Crowdrise is absolutely, 100% the antithesis of transparent. The site obfuscates its FAQs and its guarantee.
I had to actually go to a donation page and make a donation to see how it really worked because the descriptions are not transparent.
If a donor wants to donate $100, the final donation page boosts it to $109.10. The recipient can edit that amount back down to $100. But apparently, the donor usually ends up donating the $109.10. So the recipient gets $100, and Crowdrise gets $9.10. But the donor actually gave $109.10. That means the fee is 8.34% ($9.10 out of $109.10).
But Crowdrise doesn't count that extra $9.10 in its calculations. So it claims this:
-------------------
CROWDRISE'S MISLEADING CLAIM
CrowdRise fees are super simple and lower than any other crowdfunding website around. $97 out of every $100 goes directly to your cause. Guaranteed. And, most fundraisers are getting up to $99 out of every $100. Pretty amazing.
If you're raising money for a cause, CrowdRise will guarantee 3% pricing (includes credit card fees). That means you keep at least $97 of every $100 you raise. For real. Nearly every other fundraising site will charge you at least 8%. Plus, there are no fundraising goal or deadline requirements so you keep what you raise.
--------------------
It is blatantly misleading to say the recipient gets 100% of the donations even if everyone increases their donations to cover their costs because the extra they give is part of their donation; you can't exclude the $9.10 as part of the donation in order to claim that 100% goes to the recipient.
This is my first time raising funds for someone. I would never use Crowdrise. I would never recommend it to anyone, and I would tell anyone who is using it to stop immediately.
If this type of marketing is not illegal in the United States, I would encourage people in other countries to sue Crowdrise.
This is just my second time using CrowdRise to help raise funds for a local charity that is raising money and awareness for childhood brain cancer. I set up the event page and then requested some help with setting up registration for the event. I received an email from Nick stating he was at the ready to assist me with my questions. Nick and I arranged to speak over the phone. Nick was super friendly and more importantly he was excited to help me. Over the course of a couple of weeks, Nick and I corresponded at various times of the day to get the site set up just right. Nick and the CrowdRise team did a FANTASTIC job (and I'm not doing their job justice with my wording) on setting up the event and providing OUTSTANDING customer service.
To the CrowdRise Team - you have won me as a customer! Keep up the great work!
THANK YOU

Quintas, our service representative has been a great help. Via conference call in two locations, Quintas guided us through the details of the Claim Your Nonprofit process with attention and skilled listening. He even provided responses via e-mail on the weekend. Kudos to Crowdrise for choosing talented and knowledgeable individuals like Quintas to provide Excellent No Nonsense Friendly Customer Service. We are new at this, but with Quintas we have every expectation we will find success. The motivated students for whom we are raising money deserve no less. Thank you for this transformative platform.
My review for you is just what I told them:
"Thank you so much for your awesome, epic, spectacular help over the last month. I will highly recommend Crowdrise to anyone and everyone. You all exceeded my expectations and hopes. Thanks a million."
My experience with Crowdrise has been amazing. It was really easy to setup a fundraiser for my favorite charity and get my friends/family to make donations rather than give me birthday gifts this year. Really great all around.
Just used Crowdrise. They now have the lowest, simplest pricing of any crowdfunding website. I raised money for my sister's medical expenses. Their service is better than Zappos. And, they now guarantee 3% pricing. I actually kept over $98 of every $100 donated. Ignore the negative reviews. Crowdrise is the real deal.
WWW.CROWDRISE.COM/JAKE AUSTIN IS WRONGFULLY CLAIMING TO BE AFFILIATED WITH THE NATL FOUNDATION FOR ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN. CROWDRISE IS IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH THE NATL FOUNDATION FOR ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN. They wanted to charge $24.00 for a $300.00 donation, so i lowered it to $200.00 and the charge is $16.00 which tells me that they lowered their charge due to so many complains, is now 8%. But what I do not understand is why don't they have a flat fee per transaction if it does not exceed the $1,000.00. They are not a merchant transaction per say to charge based on amount. I wonder if they reduced 2% but is now charging it to the organization. I have donated thru justgive.org and they charge 4.5% and give you the option to you to add it or if you want them to take it from they donation, straightforward.
I'm trying to donate $100 to a friend running in the Chicago marathon and Crowdrise are charging me over 10% in fees. Surely there are regulations around how much they get to take away from a charity? I really want to donate but I don't want to support these kind of unethical business practices.
Hey Gus, we definitely want you to have the best experience on CrowdRise. The additional fees are completely optional for you to add to your $100 donation. They allow you to give 100% of your donation to charity so the organization benefits the most. We can definitely help with everything so if you have any questions or would like additional information please contact me at Quintas@CrowdRise.com and I'll be able to answer anything and everything. Thanks so much, Quintas
I'm giving crowdrise two stars only because it may offer charities some benefits I'm not aware of. As a donor, I was ticked off that crowdwise wants a 10% fee for processing a transaction.
This seems egregiously excessive to me, especially if they fancy themselves as somewhat of an altruistic company.
This site was extremely helpful for my fundraiser! It kept the fundraiser organized and always let me know whenever someone donated, or anything else that happened. I highly recommend it for anyone who needs a fundraising website.
This site is extremely questionable. I raised funds on the site for Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey. However, I wanted my company to match the donation so I reached out to Susan G. Komen to verify the donations with my company. After emailing them several times, I finally received a response only to tell me that they had no record of the donation. This was a donation that should have been transferred by Crowdrise's third party vendor which should also send a record of donors and contributions to the organization. Right now I am still trying to find out where the funds are after about 3 months. Although it is possibly Susan G. Komen is at fault as well, the customer service people Crowdrise have been responding with generic and vague answers. Find out where your funds are actually going!
I just discovered that not only do they charge the donor a 10% transaction fee, they charge the charity another 15% transaction fee, so they take a total of 25% which is excessive.
Answer: Hey Phil, Thanks so much for reaching out and that's an awesome question. Lue Ann and Debbie hit the nail right on the head. This $9.10 charge is completely optional and allows donors to ensure their individual donation has the absolute maximum impact possible. We'd love to chat about everything with ya' and help get you set up raising money super-fast. Just shoot me an email at Quintas@CrowdRise.Com and we'll dig right in. Wes

Answer: Hey Karen, Thanks so much for reaching out and I'm happy to help. Right now, CrowdRise is set up to benefit US-based 501c3 charities who have a valid EIN registered with the IRS. We also work with Canadian charities but that's a conversation for another day. By default, US charities receive donations from their payment processor, Network for Good, on a monthly basis via check. They may also opt to sign up for WePay to receive funds via direct deposit, where they offer more frequent transfer periods. For more information feel free to reach out to Quintas@CrowdRise.com and we'll talk through all of the details together. Talk to you soon. Quintas CrowdRise Customer Service Person
Answer: Hey Nimish, Thanks so much for reaching out and I'm happy to help. We have a few different Hospital Humanity charities on CrowdRise and we want to make sure we're giving you the most accurate information possible. Can you email Quintas@Crowdrise.com and we'll dig in and make sure to locate the correct charity so we can answer you question completely correctly? If you have the EIN for the charity or the city and state where it is located, that will be so helpful. We keep our lights on and run the site and pay our bills by taking a small cut of the donations, usually around 5-6%, then there is a standard 2.9% + $0.30 credit card fee per transaction. Standing by to receive your email and answer all of your questions. Quintas, CrowdRise Customer Service Person
Answer: Hey Paul, Thanks so much for reaching out. Right now, CrowdRise currently uses Network For Good and WePay to process all of our donations. NFG and WePay are awesome but we've gotten some similar feedback from other users and have already started looking into adding PayPal too. We love customer feedback like this and it really is what drives change around here. We can't say it'll happen anytime right away, but please know that we're definitely on it and we hope to get PayPal as an option sooner than later. Please let us know if you have any other questions or feedback for us. We're ready to help. Quintas CrowdRise Customer Service Person
Answer: Hey Nicole, Thanks so much for reaching out and that's a great question. CrowdRise is an open platform that anyone in the world can use, but the only way you can collect your money is if you have a US social security number and US bank account OR a Canadian social insurance number and Canadian bank account. If you don't live in the US or Canada, you would have to have a relative who lives in the US or Canada set up your fundraiser, link their bank account and collect the money for you. Please emails us at Quintas@CrowdRise.com if you have any additional questions and we'll be standing by. Quintas, CrowdRise Customer Service Person

CrowdRise is about giving back, raising lots of money for great causes, and having the most fun in the world while doing it.
CrowdRise is the world’s largest community raising money for great causes. CrowdRise was named one of the “best online fundraising websites” by Mashable and Forbes. The CrowdRise community was named a “Top 25 Best Global Philanthropist” by Barron’s. We beat Oprah. The NYC Marathon, Boston Marathon, Ironman, Red Cross, UNICEF, as well as celebrities like Sean Penn, Seth Rogan, Ian Somerhalder, Sophia Bush, Paul Rudd, Olivia Wilde and Will Ferrell all CrowdRise. We used to try to keep CrowdRise a secret but we're making a slight change and encouraging you to tell two friends and one person who you don't like all that much about the site.
Hey Ana,
Thanks so much and I can definitely shed a bit of light on this one for ya'.
We actually just launched a feature on the site that gives donors the option to donate just a bit more in order to cover the fundraiser's transaction fee and ensure that 100% of the donation amount goes to the particular cause.
I checked out JustGive.Org and it appears that they only offer this feature if the donation is made through one of their DONATE NOW button, which you can find on their FAQs here: https://www.justgive.org/nonprofit-resources/faq/index.jsp.
This means that if you did not make your contribution through a DONATE NOW button, the fundraiser did not receive the full amount of your donation.
I'd be more than happy to discuss this further with you, just shoot me an email over to Quintas@CrowdRise.Com, I'll be standing by to answer any and all other questions you have as well.
Thanks so much and definitely appreciate the feedback here.
