It's a real good VPN
March 11, 2020

ExpressVPN one of the best VPN services I've used. Big list of countries, good connection and affordable price. Even though there many cheaper services I'm going continue using ExpressVPN.

I got ExpressVPN few years ago with a good deal from this service, and I'm really satisfied with it. It's a nice working VPN with large numbers of available IP address. Price is not the best, but it worth it.

First it is great that expressvpn supports older legacy OS It also has many countries to select from which is nice. It is easy to use and can be used with little knowledge of VPN. The connections continue to be at a good speed as well. It does have a 30 day trial which is very generous. The customer support was very helpful and fast. I have no complaint with my user experience of this program.

I do not like to deal with companies that make it hard to cancel, try and find a cancel button. They hide it under turn off auto renew.

It tells me they do not stand by their product.

Overly priced junk
June 13, 2019

Do not use this VPN, especially if you live in ChinaI haven't been able to connect for two weeks. For such an expensive product, this is unforgivable. I've found cheaper and more reliable alternatives; you can too.

Why ExpressVPN SUCKS!
March 19, 2019

After 2 years of use and various issues with Express VPN's support staff, I suggest that this product is in dire need of improvement. The Windows desktop app features a ridiculous user interface, i.e.the choosing from different servers cannot not be done in the main window but requires clicking links and drop-down menus. The client itself takes forever to connect to nearby location and even the so called "Smart Location" which is not geographically closer, takes some time to connect.

The worst part about the desktop client is its "Kill Switch" feature. When web connectivity drops and the switch kicks in to disconnect the PC from the Internet, it is next to impossible to turn the VPN off or to continue without it. Only a computer re-start can undo the blocking process. The client's "disconnect" function is extremely slow and the. Exe file continues to run in the background.

The Android mobile app does lack important features in OS 4.0 (Lollipop): When the "Server connection has failed" screen appears - there is not a button or link back to the start page from which to choose another server location. This means, one has to go to the app control page of the phone to manually kill the VPN process from running. Also, Wifi signals of average "coffee shop strength" cannot even start the app. At all.

Lastly, the support team greatly lacks technical comprehension regarding user's privacy, something this service supposedly stands for. I asked to have support guide me through the process to manually configure my phone for their VPN without the connection to a non-secure public Wifi source - and was told it couldn't be done.

The support chat feature of Express VPN's website is not encrypted and all communication transcripts that contain part of your login credentials - your account email, are sent to your email and thus the web in non-secure form of clear text.

Changes to your account when logged in are impossible and support staff asks you to submit your full name and payment ID details in order to verify your identity, a lot of personally identifiable information which is not required to sign-up. Of course, all of this is only possible either via non-secure chat or by non-secure email.

One must wonder why a big outfit like Express VPN cannot provide secure communications with their users to enable them for example to make changes to their account or profile details. Online banking provides something so simple, all over the world. Express VPN is the most expensive service with the least amount of consideration about privacy concerns of their users.

I am switching over to Proton VPN (https://protonvpn.com/) because they care and provide maximum privacy protection for their users. I do not recommend Express VPN for the above mentioned issues that they do not seem important enough to fix. If you value your privacy, do not buy.

EVPN after 6. 5. 2 no longer support Mac OSX using McAfee products - EVPN changed their traffic handling after v6. 5. 2 and now their product's outgoing traffic is blocked by McAfee's firewall. EVPN's support team told me they weren't even interested in bugging the incompatible version numbers to investigate root-cause and determine a work-around for their customers. So, if you use McAfee on your Mac, find another VPN service. That's what I'll be doing after waiting since September for a fix.

I really like this product, I was skeptical at first but this company is legit. I had some issues with my account cause I made a mistake with the username, but they made it super easy to fix. They have LIVE CHAT with a HUMAN BEING pretty much 24/7, so you get top notch service all the time. It's really great. I wish every business had this. So tired of having to read "FAQs" that don't answer my question. LIVE CHAT is so much better! Also, they make it easy to start and stop your membership at anytime. You just toggle it on or off in settings. Super easy. Reminds me of AMAZON PRIME. Highly recommend this service.

Enrolled for 1 month. Month 2 I got charged again. Contacted support and complained. They said they'd refund that second month and cancel subscription I never signed up for. Month 3 no refund but was charged again. Month 4 charged again. Wondering when to investigate a class action lawsuit. Very similar scam to Godaddy

Service itself was as advertised, however:
I detected over 100% CPU usage (from overclocking) by programme "expressvpnd". Of course I made sure that I was disconnected and I tried rebooting. The very high usage of CPU persisted (it was intermittent, but remained), and at all times appeared in my top 10 programmes running. I uninstalled, and the problem went away. Today I tried reinstalling (with a new download of their website) to see if the problem was with the original install: The problem returned.

This is completely unacceptable, and highly suspicious. Want to protect your privacy? Maybe first check that ExpressVPN isn't a form of spyware itself - or perhaps using customers' CPUs to mine cryptocurrencies. Who knows, but it's not worth the risk, the money, nor the massive cost on CPU.

I was using the linux 64 version, on Ubuntu 16.04, Dell Inspiron 15z 5579, i7-8550U.

I'm full time online freelancer and found out about ExpressVPN through some great reviews from a Facebook group I joined. I decided to jump in and make the move to paid VPN services. It was the best decision I made. I am truly grateful for my secure online browsing. Thank you, ExpressVPN!

This supposed "unblockable" vpn is always blocked. Don't let them fool you. I've been in China for two years and this one is no better than the rest for getting past "The Great Firewall" of China. Personally, I've had better luck with a free vpn that always (ALWAYS) works. And when this one actually worked, it was no faster than any other vpn. These guys are only after your money. Pure and simple. And their customer support is non-existent once they have you signed up. And never, repeat N-E-V-E-R sign up for a 30 day free trial for anything. Especially these crooks. Run fast. Run far.

Thank you ExpressVPN for giving me the best VPN services I ever had. I tried several services in the past and I never really felt secure. I also tried a paid service from another VPN provider just last year only to find out that there's still some sort of leakage. Been using ExpressVPN for two months now and I never had any similar problems. Thank you so much because I finally found the best service for me.

By mistake I renewed my subscription for 1 year period and was charged $99.-. After 3 weeks their Customer service chat told me it is already refunded to my account but it is not in my account and they want you to believe them, no receipt, no refund number, nothing.

I am not renewing my account with them. I thought they were serious bussiness. WATCH IT!

I subscribed for a one month free trial of Express VPN in November 2017. I cancelled the free trial within the month. It is now 7th December 2017 and Express VPN has charged my account for US$12.95 on separate 3 occasions. I have tried to contact their "instant" Live Chat Support. I have not received any response. I have since cancelled my credit card in order to stop Express VPN from charging me further.

Refund Hassle
September 27, 2017
Updated review

Despite being within the "30 day free trial period" three email requests to remove a 1-yr subscription charge to our credit card were ignored. Out of frustration I contacted our credit card folks and requested a "chargeback" against ExpressVPN and also sent a 4th email to ExpressVPN this one with the header "Without Prejudice". Six hours later the charge was refunded.

MONUMENTAL WASTE OF TIME
September 17, 2017
Previous review

Sept. 24 Update: Despite ExpressVPN's claim to offer a 30-day Moneyback Policy they have just charged our credit card for a full year. We've notified our card company & I just sent the following message to ExpressVPN via their website:

"WITHOUT PREJUDICE

Re: Billed for services not received

From the very first day of attempting to install ExpressVPN on our AppleTV box I have encountered nothing but problems and ExpressVPN has never worked. Despite several messages to ExpressVPN advising you that I would not be installing/using Express VPN and instructing you to cancel the subscription and any bills you have charged an entire year's service to our credit card. I have filed a formal complaint with our credit card company and have requested that they issue a "chargeback" against ExpressVPN."

RANT OF THE WEEK in response to a Customer Satisfaction re: issues with trying to install ExpressVPN on our AppleTV:

Absolutely NO USEFUL support provided. When we could not get ExpressVPN to work on our AppleTV 4 I tried contacting support only to discover that all I could do is send an email enquiry which would be answered sometime in the future hardly convenient or helpful. Your online tutorials are confusing & sometimes contradictory and provided no meaningful help. Eventually after several emails I was told to contact your Live Chat at the provided link except there was no link in the email. When I pointed that out in yet another email I was told that if I couldn't see the link then all the Chat lines were full and to send an enquiry by email. ARE YOU KIDDING? Over a week of screwing around with your absolutely rubbish service; we want an immediate refund/cancellation of the charge on our credit card.

Didn't know what a VPN was until someone referred this app to me. So glad I decided to give it a try because it's totally changed the way I think about privacy.
