The Extra space storage at 2701 Nevada Avenue in Golden Valley, MN is staffed by a rude, incompetent, and disrespectful customer service worker. On signing up for a storage space the first time, she lied to this customer about running a special that would lock in one price at signing. That proved false two months later. Instead of $70, I received a price jump to $125 monthly. Yesterday morning, 2/11/23, I stopped by to update my payment after returning from abroad. The lady customer service representative became combative and confronted me very rudely with colorful words. She unapologetically accused me of leaving unattended vehicle in the parking lot of Extra Space, and saying to me: you have to be responsible. When I asked if this was a mistaken identity or complaint, she called 911 for the police to throw me out of the Extra space property. Little did the customer service lady realize the police received better training than the training she received as a customer service rep to interact combatively with customers. I waited until the police arrived. The police introduced himself, asked what was going on and admonished me to take the issue up with corporate. I left standing a troubled, incompetent and rude customer service representative that will eventually run that business under the ground because of her nasty attitude to customers who pay her salary.
Poor service and she needs to be retrained or replaced!
After 3 months they unexpectedly raised the rent of a 5x10 unit from $57 a month to $87. Must I say more? Once everything is moved in they decided to raise it. This was not a temporary special. Sure it's month to month. But raising it that much is criminal.

Rental unit cost almost doubled in less than a few months. And then, they were authorized to do direct withdrawals from my account. Suddenly I heard that my account was past due and they charged me late fees and some auction fees. No respect whatsoever for the consumers. Worst experience ever.

My name is Ivonne, I have been renting unit 1032 at store #1805. Since September 2022, I am been charge $297 per month for a 10x5. I was told by the store manager Jeannette Gonell, I could not get the first free month rent promo because I was getting an online rate. I don't see what kind of special price for every where else with better access hours a 10x5 is a hundred dollars or more cheaper. Access hours are suppose to be until 7pm at 6:40pm they are rudely kicking people out. I get my unit pay by HRA they always access fees to the account although Hra send the checks on time. They always claim not having received them. While all mail send to me by hra is receive in 2 or 3 business days from the time they send them. I have been renting only for five month and yesterday, I was told my rent has been increased already. They were demanding me to pay $56 off pocket. Claiming, the HRA check did no cover the full account balance. Hra sent a check of 297.50 on 12/22/22. For January payment which was 297.50. A fee of $56 was assessed on 01/07/23. For they claimed not to have received the check, that was sent out on 12/22/22. There was a roll-up credit of 40.20. However, within the past to days I have been called and told I need to pay $56. It's terrible they are thief. Jeanette Gonell should be fire as well as Christina Roberts. They are so disrespectful.

The most convenient and secure storage facility to store your items! Joe, Manny, and Letty are always willing to help and do a fantastic job maintaining the facilities they look over. If you ever have any questions, just head up to the office and you will surely get help!
When I placed my items in storage, I was charged $114. I wasn't bothered, until I went to check on my items and they were all covered in dirt and grime. My first thought was, "What is the point of paying for an indoor climate controlled space if all my couches and mattresses get covered in random gunk from the ceiling?" Now they hide behind the New Year as an excuse to raise the price of my storage unit to $166. For what purpose other than greed? After giving them an earful, I will have to remove all my items and take them to a facility that is worth the price and won't leave my items filthy. Very disappointing Extra Space Storage is. If you're going to shelter other's items have the decency to keep them clean.
Do not rent with this storage space. They give you a cheap price to get you in and then prices go up monthly or when the market changes. The units are old/worn down and not well kept to protect your belongings from bad weather. The grounds are tight and are hard to move vehicles around. Save your money and look elsewhere!
DO NOT REN T SPACE HERE. Gave me a price for 3 months and then randomly doubled my payment claiming "prices will raise based on demand but never go down"
This place has Rats! Was told they were taking control of it but after reading other reviews and talking to other tenants it's been this way for years. I complained and wrote a review and now have been kicked out. They falsely accused me of being talked to 6 times about being on premises after hours. I have there largest unit there and have to move everything else where. Big burden to me but they don't care as long as I'm not there spreading word about their critters. I've seen the rats on several occasions one as big as a cat. They've torn through our property stored there. Hopefully haven't had their babies in our boxes like others have had. There's rat feces and urine on everything. Little creatures have been everywhere knocking things over and breaking belongings. They munch on sponges pull cords into holes. But some how extra space not disclosing this issue has made us the bad people by making others aware of the issue. I've lost thousands of dollars in property plus have to relocate while they keep making money. This place sucks. I don't know whose worse the rodents or the humans who run the place!
$149 to $239 in too much time now you get all your stuff in there and they'll screw you like they screwed me
I lost everything I owned at extra space storage. A blond girl and her boyfriend broke the lock and stole 17 suitcases full of $20,000 worth of school supplies and the extra space trolley. Insurance refused to pay me $2000 and the police didn't help file a report.
This place uses unacceptable business practices by luring customers with low initial rate and then raises rate at their whim without any notification. My messages are ignored completely and I cannot get in touch with anyone to discuss rate increase that almost doubled since I moved my personal belongings there. This sounds more like a scam operation than a legitimate business. They keep charging my credit card and yet totally ignore me as a paying customer. Beware of this place! There are better options out there, but I am overseas and unable to address their abhorrent business practice at the moment.

Everyone must be aware of these rental storages. The least I can say is that they are criminals. Don't make business with them until authorities investigate and make laws that protect us.
I lost about $100,000.00 along with my job and health at Extra Space Storage in Dallas (TX) and have proofs and leads that incriminate the storage manager and his wife.
Absolutely the worst place when you need sound help. They raised my rate from 125 a month to 205 in less than 4 months. It's a trap to transfer and there is no such thing as a district manager, manager, or even corporate. RAPING YOUR POCKETS is all they're good at. Oh might I add one employee put notes in my account that wasn't true and another called me a liar!

My unit was one of several broken in to on State College in Anaheim. Zero security cameras near my unit and a flimsy hasp that was easily cut by occupants of the nearby homeless encampments is their idea of "exceptional security." If you value your belongings, store them anywhere but this dump. They've also reduced access hours due to construction, so I had to take time off work to meet with their staff regarding the theft. My car is filthy because much of the property isn't even paved - and you're dreaming if you think the dirt won't get into your unit as easily as the the thieves.
Raised my rent from 70$ to 250$. Make sure to read the contract carefully I learned a lesson here, good luck.
