The overall reputation of Plenty of Fish (POF) is largely negative, with customers expressing significant dissatisfaction regarding the quality of profiles and user interactions. Common concerns include a high prevalence of fake profiles, rudeness, and entitlement among users, particularly women, who are perceived as unrealistic in their dating expectations. Many reviews highlight poor customer service, including issues with account management and a lack of effective support. While some users acknowledge the site's potential for connecting singles, the overwhelming sentiment suggests that POF has declined in quality and user experience, leading many to seek alternatives.

Wow I am very surprised to see some people saying that plenty of fish is a fake site? This is hands down the best FREE dating app and website around. Everything is 100% free. Im reading these reviews of how some people never get replied to followed by them ranting about the site being fake. Well I hate to say this but there are other reasons no one is replying to those people lol. Sorry but it's the truth. I have personally received dozens of msg's from girls using plenty of fish. I am currently talking to one of these girls on my phone now. So unless the girl I'm talking with on my actual phone works for plenty of fish I'm pretty sure it's a real site lol. This girl also lives very close to me fyi. I don't like people knocking a site just because they don't get contacted. Had I read one of these ridiculous negative reviews I may of never tried plenty of fish. There are massive scandalous dating sites and apps out there that will take your money. This is a completely legit and free dating site. Give it a shot dont listen to these lies about it being fake.
I know that my case is rare but I met my fiance on this site. He was the first profile I looked at and he message me and we went on a date I deleted plenty of fish a week later because it went so good. I am glad I took the chance with pof especially since its free you really can't complain. I feel it is a good site over all.
Excellent website here in Australia. All the profiles seem to be real but many women, AS IN REAL LIFE, ignore my messages. Still, I have met lots of women and had sex with at least 8 (all were looking for a relationship though). It is still basically 100% free here in Australia. I think it is a great site and I have been using it for 6 years. I could have been married many times over if that was what I was looking for.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY. THIS IS A FREE SITE. YOU ARE STUPID IF YOU PAY.
The website was decent to below average years ago, and I did talk to real people on it. There still are some real people that use the site; however, the site is on its last leg. The site has a decent layout and gives off a false image, but its sole purpose is to generate ad revenue. There are a litany of problems with this site.
1). The website brags about being FREE, but it asks for MONEY!
2). The are many fake profiles. They are blatantly obvious & appear automated, for instance fake profiles will be named in similar patterns such as Katie1843, Megan1123, Anne1345, & usually the false profiles have young good looking girls looking provocative and hardly wearing anything (This is done to get men to sign up) (Doing a reverse image search with tinyeye or Google usually confirms they are fake as well.
3). Emails are sent out from fake profiles saying they want to meet you! (Again, another thing to pull people on the site so POF can make ad revenue)
4). The matches are bogus, and are generated at random. (If you go to the matches page and hit REFRESH, it will give you a new random list of matches.)
5). Many users that complain, especially about the credibility of site, or its profiles or anything will get banned. (The fact the they get rid of users who raise eyebrows nearly proves they have something to hide.)
6. Duplicate accounts are not allowed, but there are numerous ones out there, and they are usually fake.
I upgraded my account and paid $38.70 in Oct 2013. On Nov 2013 another $38.70 was drafted from my bank account thru PayPal. I called POF and it was reimbursed. On Feb 2014 I renewed my 3 month membership and paid another $38.70 w/credit card, however I happened to check the balance of my bank account and noticed that POF used PayPal to draft from my account another$38.70. I was upset. I contacted POF and they said they would look into it. I contacted my bank and informed that I did not authorize this transaction and also my credit card company. A few days went by and I was reimbursed by PayPal and my credit card company credited my account. A few days after I received an email from POF stating that they did not make a transaction thru PayPal and for me to contact PayPal. I forwarded PayPal's email as proof of the transaction and all details. To make a long story short, POF BLOCKED my profile and I am UNABLE to create a new one. Instead of correcting their billing issues they opted to BLOCK ME. BEWARE! Don't trust that site. What a HORRIBLE experience I had.
As some else said i only picked 1 star cos its the lowest score i could give... multipull accounts deleted for no reason... run by a egosentric canadian geek...
DO NOT get suckered in to paying for the upgrade...
Ok. Let's just say there are some complete perverts on this site. I however went on three dates. The first guy no chemistry but such a nice guy we are still friends. Second date the guy was very nice we just had different views on life. I was going to tie up because I was getting some really offensive messages but I decided to give this one guy a shot. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised! We are still seeing each other. It's in the early stages still but I'm happy I gave it another shot. Never met anyone like him. Let's just say fingers crossed and for now profile removed. Don't be discouraged by the jerks. You might actually find someone amazing.
I am giving plenty of fish 1 star because I can't give them no less. My account was deleated too for no reason, and no customer service to ask why. + I never met anyone on the site. You get what you pay for.
They ban you without warning or notice or anything! For the dumbest little things, and it's PERMANENT! No appeal nothing, ever, contact POF staff. Nothing, that's a rather $#*!ed way to treat members, and most obviously LOSE members to your competitors, what site sends members to their competition? Only stupid arrogant ones, remember myspace? The mighty will fall so take a good look at your stupid rules before you regret it, dumbasses.
I met two decent men off here. Just went on a few dates. Nothing turned into anything serious. I don't like the "Wants to Meet You" function. If someone wants to get to know me they better write me.
Also to my fellow BBW's be careful about men who say they LOVE BIG WOMEN. Thats crap. They just want to bust a nut and think it will be easier with us. ha!
If a man just wants sex just tell me that. I will then decide if I want that. Don't LIE! And $#*! around with my emotions. If you're not really attracted to a woman don't pursue her you douchebag! Karma will get you! And you married/attached/already involved men on all these dating sites looking for women on the side need to be set on fire.
I personally think this site should be shut down. They 'deleted' my account for no reason and now I believe they still use my account information as if I'm actually on there. This is the worst dating site I have ever heard of.
ITS FREE and LIGHTLY SUPERVISED SO>>>>It is like any other dating or night out. You have to be careful and get to know people a little before diving in. I had great luck with finding prospective real dates. And met quite a few. People are not always what they project and that's just reality on the computer. I was real reserved overall, gave little personal info, and had little expectations until it got real in person. I am getting married to the last girl I met on this site after dating for over two years.
Okay Ill try to keep this semi intelligent. I think I make a valid point here when I say, Women online suffer from an Absurd Standards Syndrome ($#*!). The cyber female of today suffering from this $#*! complex is a result of the fantastical 20 to 100 male to 1 female ratio at any given dating site. This on line ratio of dozens of males to each female on personals sites leaves women in a state of cyber induced self-delusion from so much attention from so many men they do not experience once they walk out their door into reality where the actual ratio is less than 1 male for every 1 female. Insulated by the PC media, glam mags, academia, beta suck-ups (manginas) and female friends, there are growing numbers of women posting personals on line losing touch with their rank relative to other women and are thus finding it easy to slip into this comfortable bubble of cyber self-delusion known as $#*!. Similar to cigarette addiction, and the quick dopamine fix, many women found on personals sites are escaping a harsher acceptance of their personal flaws that can only be remedied by realizing the reality of their diminished mating choices in the real world after leaving their self-deluded comfort found in a multitude of attractive men that in all reality don't exist for them outside the confines of cyber space.
Remedy to all this:
1. Stay away from women under your league, and never settle.
2. Go to the gym.
3. Put on gear that fits.
4. Go the hell outside and chase women.
5. Stay the hell offline.
0 Star Rating. SCAM. I gave a couple of bucks to upgrade from free and they sent me an email that someone wanted to meet me. Click to open user profile on the site, nothing there and you have no option to search user name they gave. They restricted whom I could message to only those that they feel are my and don't allow me to message others. The matches they "suggest" are not close to my local geographic area. Emails contacting the site go unanswered.
POF is a complete scam design to create traffic to their website. Profiles are either outdated or fabricated by POF. There are legitimate profiles but any email correspondence are viewed or blocked by POF as to get the user to upgrade their account at a monthly fee. The website's method to get users to upgrade is based on this statement or question, Did you read your email. Upgrade now to find out. WTF?
If POF didn't block your email then why should you need to upgrade. Do not attempt to bypass their system. If you attempt to include any type of contact info in your email, such as phone number or email address then POF will delete your account.
POF will regularly send users " notification like You have a (12) new matches) in the hopes to generate traffic to their website or they will falsely respond to any emails you send or falsely indicate some one wants to meet you. This is how the website makes money through online advertising. The more traffic they generate the more money POF makes
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS SITE.
Time better spent elsewhere, 200 messages, 2 responses... no thanks.
A little surprised at the negatives here about this site.
I've been on and off of it for several years. I've met at least a dozen women in that time, dated several of them. True, the features available are diminishing over time. That doesn't stop me from viewing profiles, sending and receiving messages.
I've deleted my account each time and have less features each time I rejoin, but I still get dates. I'm not a millionaire playboy, I meet real women.
As for the quality of the clients, you can't blame the site for that!
No I am not a pof staff member.
I've tried several sites, I always come back to this one.
All in all you get what you put into it.
The automated match feature is based on what info you provide about yourself. I find the matches are age appropriate and within my area.
Sure some gals don't reply, I don't take it personally, they just don't see me as a match I guess, no harm in that.
I have always been respectful and get the same in return.
I recommend it to anyone who asks. I have friends and co-workers that have met casual dates as well as long term partners.
Don't shoot the messenger!
This is a true and free good and by far the best site for finding some one its all about personality matching and its free there's no bull $#*! at all and that's hard to find cuz every doucher who makes sites like this just want to make money off your emptiness and loneliness lolz sad but its true all 360 degrees of what I just said any ways I give this site 5 stars
Like many others I will say that this site is exactly what it seems. People are a**holes, sure, but aren't they usually? There are very few girls looking to hook up, and very few guys looking for something lasting, but that's just the nature of people, not to be blamed on the site. I've never actually had a date from this site (probably because I'm just looking for hook-ups and casual friends), but I do have one scheduled, and that's more than I can say for any other site or bar I've been to. If you just don't have time to get out, this will give you about the same chances as going out to a bar with actual social skills.
Wow, I can't believe all the bad reviews on here. The website does what it says it does. It's free and user friendly. Granted, a lot of men are looking for one thing on there, but it is up to the woman to identify that and weed out the bad guys. I have had a few dates off the site and am currently seeing someone for four months already that I like very much. There are some fake people, but what do you expect if the person has one picture up. Don't talk to them, duh! Overall, it's a good dating site and will yield results. Obviously if you are good looking, you will get more attention, but that's not the fault of the website. Overall, it is a good medium to meet people.
Answer: Oh yes, they want you to upgrade and pay! But when you pay you will see these profiles who you liked or who liked you disappear. They were nothing but bait-and-switch. You gain nothing when you pay, it's the silliest way to spend money. Are you looking for hook up or relationship? I wanted a relationship and I was really frustrated by Pof. Eventually I found what I was looking for on https://j4l.com/402007 But I've lost nearly a year on Pof. Not to mention emotional drain and money!
Answer: I just deactivated my account. This site is a sewer. Do not pay anything for this site or any site. I searched for free on other site( even paid ones you can search for free) and I saw the same guys on most of the other sites as well. I'm gonna grow old alone unless luck steps in and maybe I'll meet my guy IRL.
Answer: Yes its possible
Answer: Delete AND contact the company. If you know who took your pictures be sure to include the name on the profile that your pictures were used on, so they can deal with that person. Once you have deleted your profile, everything is GONE. I have never had anybody use my pictures on any other sites. I'm no great beauty, that could be the reason, Still, once your profile is deleted, everything is gone.
Answer: You cannot do it from the mobile site. You need to use your search, example safari and look up pof desktop version and go to the help in the top left. It will walk you thru it, if I remember correctly. Good luck
Answer: First, write to POF and explain. Now, and I mean NOW call up your credit card company and tell them what happened. I am sure POF will not contact you. Make sure to use the word "unacceptable" when describing the consumer service to the CC company about POF. Keep all emails too. Please keep me posted. Thanks Ann B.
Answer: STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMING SITE! Any good you hear from or about it... DUH ITS THE SCAMMERS THAT WORK FOR EM. I been booted so many times due to unpopularity cuz i wont date trash so i get booted they keep your money they are garbage
Answer: Fake doesn't really describe them... more like downright liars!
Answer: Golden rule #1: Do onto others as you would have them do unto you Golden rule #2: Anything that sounds to good to be true, is not. Golden rule #3: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Answer: POF is not free at all, you have to upgrade; become a paying member to be able to do anything interesting.
