Shutterstock's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction primarily due to its subscription model and billing practices. Many users report feeling misled by the terms of their plans, often facing unexpected charges and high cancellation fees, which has led to accusations of deceptive practices. Despite these concerns, some customers appreciate the platform's diverse image selection and filtering capabilities, which enhance user experience. Overall, the feedback highlights a troubling disconnect between customer expectations and the company's service approach, suggesting a need for improved transparency and customer support to regain trust.

Wariness
This is a hide information, because nowhere is posted before or after our visit at shutterstock's website and only if your payment is finalized then you ask to get a call, this is approach of secrecy. We don't know all excellent English and the time zone is different between USA and others countries. We sent a series of emails but without replay yet. We all know they have the most negative customer services, and poor and lack of communication, but we have pay our fee without outcome. No and never, I would not recommend this company to anyone.
The appearance and general look is good (although heavy). The problem is not there.
The problems comes when you send these people any of your details, information and data.
If you want to have control on your data, access or remove it from their systems, the problem starts.
Even though they pretend their privacy policy, that you just need to write to them for access and removal, it is a fake, there is nobody behind the email address provided. You will get no answer and if you write directly to any member of this company, you will experiment a nightmare of cheap excuses, lies, incompetence and absolute arrogance.
Nice and simple stock site. Lots of cheap images and great usability.
I used to use istockphoto but the problem was the sheer amount of photos on that site it was tough to stand out. Shutterstock is a great alternative and I have got more money off of my photos here than istock.
