Several months ago our account was canceled. As I remember, it was because of suspicious use or something related? As the President, 12 years, Corporation and an CPA accounting firm that handles all of our accounting, Military certified, State certified, BBB A+ and more credentials, etc. We strongly disagree with your assessments last year. And recently I paid one of our sub-contractors who had a Square account and his company experienced all manner of complications, possible due to our company paying him on his Square account. (have you censored us?)We are a General Contractors Management Firm with over $200k paid out last year to small business subcontractors and I am very sorry Square accused us of some sort of (actually not sure)

Square has held over $3300 of money without transfer. $1950 of it they have held since January (4 months ago). They have not contacted me about why they are holding it. Their customer service is terrible. If you use your phone to call, it just leave a recorded message that the account is under review. The emails have a stock response that it is under review. I am still waiting to get my money released

I signed up with Square for my Interior Design business. My first payment went through with no problem. Then, after sending an invoice to a second client and recieving their payment, my account was flagged and they requested more information from me. I sent them the requested info and they still decided to deactivate my account. They ALSO said my funds would not be released for 2 months. Two months! My other option is to give my client a refund (which makes me look bad). Square refused to give me an explanation or provide a method to rectify the situation. After talking to others, I found that this is just how they do business. The randomely deactivate accounts and shrug their shoulders when we ask why. In their email that they responded to me after 3 days they said my account will be permanently deactivated. That was it. I suggest going to Consumer Affairs and seeing their reviews.

Suspicious
February 16, 2020

How is a business legit if there is no one that will answer when you got a problem? I don't use them for a business or ever heard of them until I had 3 or 4 charges on my bank statement that someone else charged. Had to cancel my card. The only thing on the statement is there number that's a recording. My bank is trying to figure out where the charges are coming from.

Worst company!
December 31, 2019

I would love to give 5 negative stars!
Square and all of its subsidiaries are the WORST companies I have ever had the pleasure to TRY and deal with. With there is absolutely no help from them I had $800 stolen from my bank account with the cash app and the only people I could talk to at Square were completely unwilling to help me get to the right person in fact they both hung up on me! They will not let you talk to a supervisor unwilling to even pass on your contact info to the right people not even trying to a get number but just have someone contact me would have been great!
Cash app shows the same address as Square everywhere you look but noone will help they won't walk to the next office to give info. It was told to me that that was was their company policy not to help anyone at this #*******000 who was calling on or about the cash app you have to create an account for the business that just helped someone robb another person! I want nothing to do with this company cash app but I am being FORCED to create an account just to contact them this hiding of basic company info should scare the heck out of any sane person looking to any form of banking or card transactions!

Square sends you in circles to resolve issues. My account kept sayings I needed to activate it. I followed the steps, it said it again and and again. Impossible to get a representative. They also claimed to have sent an email twice I never received. Poor customer service.

Their AI couldn't verify my identity. I gave them my full SSN. They STILL can't verify my identity, even with that. Googling the problem reveals that I'm not alone, and that customer service never helps anyone with this problem. I try to do it anyway, my account is "not qualified" to even call them on the phone, all I can do is send an email. Email gets one response that basically just tells me the same unhelpful stuff already on the support page. I say that didn't fix it, and ask where I just send my ID to get verified. No reply for two weeks. This seems to be the new reality in awful customer service--just ghosting after one unhelpful reply.

My bank can verify me, can I get them to talk to my bank? No. PayPal can verify me. AirBNB can verify me, and they had to do one of those one-way webcam things to do it, but they did it. Look, I get that the automated system is faster. But you need to actually hire a human who can do it the slow way for people the automation fails. It's not encouraging for their quality as a company that they'd be this lazy about basic things like this.

And basically all I can do is smear their name around the internet, because they won't even let me call them, and their customer service can't fix basic errors in their own system. Is there anyone at Square who actually has the authority to fix this? Email me, 50f666wsazws@ opayq. Com (remove spaces), I will update this review if you ever do.

Until then, to those reading, I would take note of the people saying they had all their money frozen without warning or recourse. That really seems to be how they're running this business, just letting a mad AI do whatever it wants to your finances with no human oversight whatsoever.

I use them as a backup option in the event that my primary system is not working. Their fees are pretty high.

Square gives no chargeback protection for sales over $250. They do for sales below that. Why punish your best customers? Those who sell better products get no protection!

Once you have money on the account, they WILL freeze it (legal or not...) and you can wait for months for your money. With the account being in that state, you have ZERO possibilities to talk to any of their clowns in the organization and all you get via e-mail is the canned e-mails that their untrained monkeys are allowed to send.

I look at them as a bunch of scammers and would rather take pennies as payment from my customers than dealing with these shady figures again.

STAY AWAY
April 6, 2017

Really bad experience! They won't even verify my identity because I don't have a credit report! I tried to get verified with my passport as well and apparently I don't exist at all! Really bad customer service as well, they do not care about their customers or people who are interested in their products. Don't waste your time.

Beware of Square
August 24, 2016

I used to think Square was the best. After processing over $500,000.00 over a three year period with no charge backs, I had grown accustomed to them. They offered me Capital Advances form time to time and I was really excited about the next day deposits. All this changed last Monday (8-15-2016). For no reason I got an email from Square stating they needed to verify my business. Moreover, they would suspend all deposits until this business was verified. Thats funny I thought, we have done business ofr three years and have spoken many times on the phone. Be it as it may, I sent in what they asked, fully expecting a thank you and your all set. No response. Two day later, they re-requested the information, I tried to call them, no response. No way to contact them by phone, no response to my emails. Immediately changed processors because I can not and will not do business with a company that can not take a call. Beware of them! This is not the first time this happened to good merchants like myself. They ended up deactivating my account, which was fine by me because I already moved on. Square = F- to me. Really disappointed.

Square was very easy to use. I signed up and immediately began using the Square service. Six months later, everything was going so well that my business more than doubled. However! Business was so good that Square began monitoring my sales. Square sent me an email one day stating that the amount of sales that I was processing was considered too high risk and they immediately closed my account. Yes... Square closed my account because I had too many sales. Square is a nice little service to use if you have small sales every once in a while. But if your sales grow and your transactions start getting larger... find another service! Square is fine for the little guys selling small items from time to time but that's about it. If you intend on processing numerous sales on a daily basis, get a professional credit card processor and leave Square to the little guys.

I use them for my personal training business once in a while. The cost is higher than my other merchant account but it's convenient when on the go. It would be nice if they looked more like a company than just a web site.

What a great concept! I looked into many credit card gateway sites like authorize.net etc. They all charge huge fees if you are a small business. If you have an iphone or android, you can accept credit cards on it. They send you a small reader that plugs into the top of the phone and you slide the card and thats it! You just got paid. 2.75% fee for each transaction, no other hidden fees. Wanna accept credit cards at a garage sale? No problem! Very cool idea and great for anyone with a small business or just a regular guy who needs to collect money from a friend! You can also manually enter a credit card as well! Very cool, and Im very happy with it

If you have a small to medium size business, and want the capability of accepting VISA, American Express, and Discover (paying 2.75%) via small device plugging into ear-phone jack on iPhone or Android... Check this out. Very smart.
