Before, I could not understand how this site can be useful for business. But nevertheless continued to use it for themselves and to post information on its website.
Then I was surprised when watching google.analytics.com that 50% of the traffic is from Stumbleupon.com!
I highly recommend this site for everyone!
The website is the perfect I have seen, it can recommendation the information you want, and it will change another page when you click the like button, so amazing, some pages are interesting and good looking.
The best site to spend time. So much funny stuff there :)! ! The second best website after Youtube
Stumbleupon is a really fun website that can help you discover many different interesting websites that relate to your specific interest. The website is very simple to use, all you do is click on your interest and hit stumble. The website then automatically tailors the websites that you get to your own interest. It is really useful when finding different videos and even recipes. When you create your stumbleupon the website asks you to share your interest and then it tailors what websites that are given to your interest. Some pro's to this website are the search bar and the favorite tag. The search bar is helpful for quick searches and the favorite tag allows you to search through your previously viewed webpages. A con is that this website occasionally recycles websites and videos that you have previously watched and that can be a bit repetitive. Overall I would recommend this site to others who are interested in finding some really cool websites and videos. But I would warn them that it can be addicting.
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SITES.
IT IS WONDERFUL... AND FUN...
I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL VERY INTERESTING SITES THAT I WOULD
NEVER HAVE DISCOVERED WITH OUT STUMBLEUPON
A fantastic way to find websites, blogs, pictures that you would not otherwise find easily or, in my case, even imagine. You do needed to spend time setting up your interest categories, then Stumble, then adjust the categories. Option to Stumble just one category is great. Interface is ok and not slow with wifi. I find it fun on my iPhone but suspect it would be better on an iPad. Content is richer than Beyonce (design focus) or Flipboard (social media origins). Beware, this is an App for adults. There is little censorship: "Babes" will show you women in bikinis etc but also porn sites. If you have wifi and half an hour to kill, you will have fun and probably learn something.
Why did they "improve" this site? Now every time I want to book mark something cool I stumbled upon, instead of giving me the url, it's a stumbledupon.com url.
It's not what it used to be. Sad.
Interesting site that is definitely worth a look. The idea is that you tell stumbleupon what you like and it will scour the web and find sites it thinks you'll enjoy. Over time, as you like or dislike the sites that it shows you, it is supposed to "learn" what you like the most and continually refine what it shows you.
Definitely a great time waster and you may "stumbleupon" something interesting.
The site (once you are signed in, etc) turns into an unobtrusive bar at the top of your screen which you use to like/dislike or stumbleupon other sites.
REASONS TO USE:
[1] You're bored and want to explore the web
[2] You would like to enjoy only a certain type of site
[3] You want to join a community of others who share similar interests
REASONS TO LOSE:
[1] You prefer to browse on your own
If you'd like to spend some time and be glad for what you spent, go to this site. It is a home away from home for the curious. Tailored to fit you whims and desires, this is the place to go to whet your appetite for fun and information.
StumbleUpon is OK. I agree with TN though. It's a complete mess and needs an improvement to the interface. The site also lacks speed and doesn't provide very accurate results. I find it annoying when I stumble, then about five minutes later I stumble upon the same site.
But StumbleUpon must be doing something right with over 1 billion Stumbles each month. What is even more interesting is that according to StatCounter, StumbleUpon made up 47.11 percent of all social traffic in the United States in July 2011.
I've always wondered how many viruses people have received from this site. It isn't like you're on Google where you can use Norton Safeweb, SiteJabber or WOT to check whether the site is safe. This is because you don't know what the next site is. I've had a few alerts from Norton when using this service - so please be careful. I recommend a computer scan after using their service.
This is one of my favorite websites to pass the time. I use it pretty much everyday. I love discovering new websites. I also love how you can customize the categories you like so you stumble on pages that are catered to your personal preferences. There are a lot of topics to choose from too.
My only gripe is once in a while it will bring me to a site that has nothing to do with any of my topic preferences. But hey, no one's perfect, right?
Also, I noticed that I get brought to a lot of pages with just one photo. I am assuming this is because of the photography category I checked off, which I love photography, but not just looking at some random photo on one random page with nothing else on it lol. Other than that, this is a really great site.
I love how you can follow people/have followers, browse or stumble through other users favorites, send messages, and review any website you want. I also have the SU toolbar installed on my browser. I love this. It's at the top of the browser under the menu bar, and has very convenient and useful buttons. The first one is a "Stumble" button. This is great because you can hit the button from ANY website you are on to start stumbling. You don't have to be on the SU website to start stumbling. There is also a pull down menu in the toolbar where you can stumble only a certain subject at that time if you choose. Also, there's a Like and Dislike button. With the Like button, you can click it on any website you want (again, doesn't have to be on the SU site) and the site will be added to your SU favorites. I go crazy with this button! Lol. Also there is a Dislike button, which helps SU cater more towards your preferences by weeding out the kind of websites you don't like. There is also a share button, to share to facebook and twitter, an Info button to see other SU users who Liked that page, a Favorites button, and Inbox to check your SU messages.
This is a website that will never go out of style because there will always be new websites to stumble through!
I use this site almost everyday to surf the web. You can customize you the categories that you want to surf which makes it sooo easy to weed out the stupid stuff you don't care to visit.
Found it somewhat confusing and chaotic, however got used to everything after a while. Cool way to store your favorites but I think that should come up with something more user friendly. Or it's just me...
Stumble Upon basically lets you customize your own favorites (such as sewing, reading, England, History, Movies, etc) and let's you click the "stumble" button to bring you to a random webpage according to your favorites. You can sign up for free and connect or "follow" others.
It's a great website to pass the time, laugh, or learn something new! I would definitely reccommend this site to anyone.
The overall idea isn't bad, you click on what your interested in and when you get on the site, it starts showing you sites that you might be interested it. The only thing that bugs me is it doesn't seem to know exactly what I like, somehow I get sites that tells me how to do knitting, where to buy a wheelchair etc... just weird stuff sometimes.
Stumbleupon.com is pretty much an overwhelming mess if you haven't gotten in on it at the ground level. I recently joined and, although I love discovering new and interesting websites, I didn't even know where to start. There are so many websites arranged on one page that it feels like clutter. The one thing that I do like is that the genres of music are broken up so that I can find the best rated indie music sites without much work.
