I was very impressed with Tutor Ming and their method of teaching Marndarin. The consultants have all been wonderful, cheery people and made the experience fun. I will admit that I was nervous at first but was put at ease immediately by the smiling face and happy tone of the teacher. I was given commendation on what I did well and also great advice on how I can improve my weaknesses. I will continue to use Tutor Ming for a long time. -Kristian Bjerke

I felt a little nervous at the start to learn Chinese because it looked almost impossible to me. After my 4th session, I started to really enjoy it and by this time I could introduce myself and use numbers in Chinese. I still find Chinese extremely hard but the Chinese consultants are very helpful with their wonderful ways of teaching. It is a great experience and you will learn this language if you are dedicated to doing so using this method. My advice is to keep it going and keep practising as hard as you can and spend 10 minutes after the session to recap what you have learned. A super way to learn a language in a real-time online classroom. Enjoy!

I had just started learning Chinese when I had to stop with the classes due to personal reasons and I plan to continue learning this beautiful language as soon as possible.
Consultants who taught me were very inspirational and knowledgeable and showed me how to learn this language in a very fun and exciting way. Considering it is very different from indo-european languages I had previous experience with it requires much more interest from a student and a lot of effort from the teacher as well to be able to continue. I would recommend this learning experience to everybody who are looking for something different and unique!

I signed up and took forty lessons. My experience was very positive and most of the tutors provided were good in tutoring. The format of learning was flexible and suited my lifestyle. I was able to cancel when my scheduled lesson conflicted with something more urgent. The only downside was that I did not have much continuty from teacher to teacher. I did have one tutor for a big stretch of time and I felt that my learning was much better.

This is a great site to learn Chinese. The price is right! That is, if you're dedicated to learning the language. Really dedicated, almost desperate.
I like the teachers, too. They do a good job pretending to like you, and are more than happy to put up with you for the short 45 minute session you get with them. They're getting paid pretty well for the tiny effort of telling you to read a small paragraph in Chinese. It takes you ten minutes to read something that they can read in 10 seconds! Happily, though, the company is still able to make a killing off of you! Ha ha ha.
Their online scheme, and their slogans of learning Chinese "from the comfort of your own home", is a great guise for cutting classroom costs that would have originally come out of their own pockets. 'Let's have them pay for their own internet access, and still pay our morbid rates for our services!'. Ingenious! Way to go, corporate!
However, make the slightest gesture to communicate with your teacher like a real person, and you will forever be cut off from the system. Don't talk about religion, the meaning of life, solutions to real world problems, opinions of cultures, history, etc. Keep your conversations bland, and chalk full of clichés and managerialism jargon. They love that. TutorMing does a superb job of keeping it 'professional', 'politically correct', and free of that blasted form of communication called human expression.
In short, when you're ready to learn Mandarin for whatever dumb reason, and if you're completely ignorant of the other resources available to you, such as switching between English and Mandarin on jw.org for free(publications available for free download in Traditional and Simplified Chinese, along with MP3 audio files, videos, the JW Library app that can display the Bible and other publications in English and Chinese simultaneously, and even the JW Language app designed to teach many languages, including Traditional and Simplified Chinese, all available free on jw.org), then sign up for lessons with TutorMing today! You won't regret it! But then again, you just might. I don't care. Do whatever you want, man.

Tutorming has been a revelation! It is everything you could possibly want from a language learning platform. The lessons are all topic based, and are structured to enhance your learning. Each lesson is by video, and the teachers are both friendly and engaging. You can review each video lesson whenever you want, and you can go over the material of each lesson if you don't have the time to rewatch the whole video. I have found that within a few weeks, my Chinese has progressed more than the previous 11 months of learning Chinese. A little background - I learned Greek because my husband Sotiris Plesiotis was Greek and I wanted to bring our children up to speak Greek, French because I loved it and Gaeilige (Irish) because it's my native language. English was the language of the colonising force in Ireland and I'm glad I learned it.

My PhD is in second language pedagogy, or how best to teach and learn a second language. So, I am keen on languages.:-)

Chinese? What a challenge! Especially for what I call (linguistically speaking) the mumblers of the world, the English speakers. In Chinese one must be precise with vowel sounds and then there are four tones. I love it. I found the first twenty lessons very challenging because I was inept. It was difficult for my ego.

Then the lovely, patient and very encouraging TutorMing tutors - Sunshine, Miranda, Sophie... so many, made me feel as if I might one day master their incredible linguistic code.

I am now keen and confident to keep going. This year has been difficult because my business has expanded and it has invaded my Chinese learning time. I remain keen. Thank you so much to TutorMing. I love going to Chinese restaurants here in Melbourne (Australia) and surprising people by saying "I don't eat meat but I love your vegetables".

Since I graduated my East-Asian and Mandarin studies at 2010 I've searched a way to maintain my Mandarin. I tried almost everything; private tutors who were very expensive, books which focused on several issues on doesn't practice pronunciation, and getting together with other friends what was a total waste of time.
Since I discovered TutorMing I've succeed to expand my vocabulary, improve my tones, and practice my grammar. The lessons are taking place whenever I want, how often I choose and from my lap-top which is real convenient and able you to monitor the class after it was ended.

After studying Chinese for many years using different formats, I joined TutorMing two months ago. I am impressed by the noticeable improvement in my Chinese fluency. The TutorMing format for language teaching is clearly working and very effective.

All the tutors are excellent. They are enthusiastic, standardized to a high degree, and are very much engaged in my progress, often providing extensive feedback with additional suggestions.

The level of customization is very high and as a student you can make any request. In my case, I wanted to continue studying traditional characters, not simplified characters. I also had a request regarding accent and wanted to emphasize conversational fluency rather than reading and writing. TutorMing was able to meet all these requests and I now enjoy highly individualized lessons. Students can even indicate areas of interest so that the lesson content is suitable and interesting.

Customer service is great. I did have some difficulties getting started as software compatibility and headset issues needed to be sorted out. Support staff was very helpful and with a little patience I was on my way. Everything has been running smoothly since.

Customer service staff responds quickly, usually within a few hours by either email or phone. When an irregularity occurs they are quick to apologize and to refund the session. So far this has only happened once.

All in all, an excellent company!

The teachers at TutorMing are very professional, hard-working and enthusiastic. The teachers always offer a stimulating and comfortable classroom environment and even if you are not able to speak any Mandarin they are happy to assist you in the task of getting started speaking. If you are serious about learning Mandarin and you are overwhelmed by the task, you should study with TutorMing. They make the task of learning Mandarin manageable and enjoyable and I am very pleased with the experience.

I am planning a trip to China in a few months to conduct research and needed to learn Chinese rather quickly. I chose TutorMing after attending the free demo class they offer to all prospective students. I must unequivocally say that I made right choice.

The classes are excellent. All of the instructors are very supportive, patient and very good at helping to me to really understand the language. The curriculum and the methods TutorMing use to teach Chinese is very effective and allows for easy comprehension and retention. Besides having a live teacher 4 days per week to work with me and teach me proper pronunciation of the language, I especially benefit from being able to go back and watch the recorded video of our entire live lesson as many times as necessary to allow me to really remember the concepts learned in each class and help my retention level even more.
