Subscribed, downloaded many titles...more than I kept up with. I cancelled my subscription, falsely believing Audible's claim that I can listen to the titles that I've paid for and downloaded. Not so. I can listen to some of them, but not all. Makes business sense for Audible...a remaining tease with titles I can still listen to, and an incentive to resubscribe. My lesson: return to the inconvenience of borrow/copy/return from the public library. No sense in being Audible's chump.
Decided to try this due to a "3-month free trial offered", and then received notification that I was going to be billed in under 1 month.
Very deceptive!
Called and asked what was going on and was told they NEVER offer a 3-month trial, only 1-month.
Hmm, Then why is the ad still in place?
Rep still insisted there was no such thing as a 3-month trial.
Very sketchy business practices. Apparently you can't trust this company, so i have no more interest in becoming a customer. Make sure you get e-mailed confirmation of your cancellation!
I purchased 8 Kindle books and purchased the audio books too. Audible suddenly took away the Audio books and said they were no longer in their Library. I paid for those books. Where did they go? I think Audible are a bunch of crooks based on this. They neither reply to e-mails and their chatlines are always being "worked" on so you can't get through. They Suck!
I enjoy this site. A bit of a learning curve, but then it's well worth it
I have a busy schedule this site allows me the opportunity to enjoy books at my discretion.
Been a customer for over 20 years now they are deleting books from my account. Unbelievable that a company that used to be so good turned into this
Audible web site is confusing. It's all about sales/profits. Audible doesn't want to you to reach a customer services. It's so frustrating. I'm a doctor & a senior citizen & a member of AARP. I'm been with Audible about 6 years and I'm still paying full price. WHY?
I left because you can't allow your monthly credits to build up, they take them even though you paid for them
I signed up for the 30-day free trial on Dec. 15,2022. When I canceled on Jan. 15,2023 I was charged for an additional month@ $14.95, saying my membership would end on Feb. 14th, 2023. I called to contest this and was told that Dec. 14th was the 30th day, not the 15th. Technically this is correct, but in my experience with 30-day trials they are from the same day you sign up to the following month of that same day...so 15th to the 15th, as an example. Amazon/Audible refused to budge on this, stating I used my monthly free credit. Mind you...you are paying $14.95 for 1 free credit per month! An absolute ripoff in my opinion. Don't waste your time on this overpriced service and use your local library.
I don't mind paying $15/mo for a book subscription and to be quite frank, it's the only subscription I have that I can't / won't be without. They are chill about refunding a book, however after 3 credits/ returns in a calendar year, you do have to call in and explain why. Lol
Here's where they lose 2 stars… the Audible app is primitive and will not show you ANY book that is on sale or being offered on a "2 books for 1 credit" deal…. So you will not be able to decide whether you'd like to pay the sale price rather than using one of your credits. Super Lame! You will be forced to use one full credit regardless.
Therefore, you'll find yourself wasting time switching back and forth between the App to Audible.com which is truly unacceptable in this day and age.
The struggle is real, but I know the game!
Took the free trial. Cancelled in time. On 1/1/23 and 1/2/23.2 charges appeared in my credit card for 14.95 each. Even though I cancelled my trial, they charged me twice. This is what Amazon thinks of disabled vets, let's steal thier money. Now had to report card lost to get a new one issued to prevent Audiable from stealing more money from me.
I have to say some bad things about Audible.com, which has been collecting my membership fees while denying me access to my library of audible books. I have spoken to customer service numerous times over months in an attempt to update my account and get access to the books I have bought. We get nowhere because they insist that I answer all their questions in order to ascertain I am who I say I am. That means validating a credit card number that was canceled and reissued (which has nothing to do with payment), and they insist I access my account through an old email address that has been out of commission for years now. I'm a pretty patient person, but I was losing it today when I could not remember the street number of a former address. I couldn't even cancel my membership because I can't access the account. I had to have my cc company put a block on the merchant. Sheesh! Listening to books shouldn't be this hard. I'm losing my Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy, my friend Rachel $#*!inson's fabulous new book on grief narrated in her voice, the autobiography of a yoga that I listened to regularly to go to sleep, and many more books. I'm very disappointed in a company that purports to be devoted to customer service. Although it is fun to use the word purports.
I don't know why these people have not been arrested yet. I changed my card because they made a deduction which was never from me. I can't believe they got the new card details after changing it. I asked the credit card company to flag them.
They are coy about how they describe what you get with a subscription, it's worse than Netflix! NOTHING you would want to listen to is for free it's just packed to the gills with dreck. So you basically just spent $15 for one audiobook.
I got a month free membership. After a month I cancelled my membership. Now 6 months later, I see that they have been taking every month 16$ from my bank account.
Now I'm trying to fix this problem. But I can't log into my amazon account, because I changed phone numbers. I've been on the line with amazon help desk for 26 minutes. They couldn't helpe me.
I've tried buying extra credits but the system will not allow but it allows me to buy the books at full price. Customer service doesn't help either. I feel scammed.
I've been a member of Audible for years. Last month was the first time that I ever called in to get a credit for the books that I didn't like.
It was a great customer service experience and it took five minutes to process my request. I purchased some additional books that I was not happy with so I made a call last week and spoke to the customer service representative from hell. I gave him my email address and he claimed that it was incorrect. The conversation lasted over 25 minutes. He kept over talking me and just giving me the runaround. I fought very hard not to cuss him out. I ended the call by hanging up in his face because he got mad at me because I told him he was not doing his job. He proceeded to tell me that I didn't give him the information that he needed in order to help me. The address that they had on file was when I lived in Dallas. He ended up whispering the name of the street I guess trying to give me a hint. I brought that to his attention but he claimed that he was only saying that because that's what he thought I said. I gave him a couple of addresses and he kept saying that they were incorrect I tried to get into my profile to see what address is on file in the address that I have my payment under my method was the correct address.
But yet and still he excepted my back up address as the correct email address. He needs to be coached as well as reprimanded for giving piss poor customer service. If there was another service comparable to Audible I would cancel my subscription. The next person that I called verified that the information I initially gave the first customer service rep was correct. He spent time to make sure that he took care of my complaint and he gave me three credits for my trouble. I still wanted to make sure that this person was reprimanded. I asked to speak to a customer service representative each time and was not able to.
Do better!
They sign you up, run it through a credit card when you sign up with Amazon prime. They never email you are being billed and it's a scheme. Took me awhile to catch in because fees hidden in my credit card. This company is what's wrong with the world today. Greed and deception
A total rip off. £8 a month for ONE audiobook and a bunch of lousy podcasts. I can get loads of decent podcasts on BBC SOUNDS for free, and plenty of audiobooks on YT for free. The only reason people subscribe is because they don't want to be 'left out', peer pressure etc. It is utter utter garbage. Oh yeah. Try actually READING a book. Support your local library. They are also free. That's anathema to Bezos and Co though isn't it? Gotta get more billions. He and that freak Musk should be shot!
AWFUL service, some books ok
Terrible customer service EVERY TIME I call and need help. Patronising, sarcastic, unfriendly and all in all shockingly bad. I only enjoy 1 book from there and it is the Bible narrated by John Banks - the best narrator EVER!
Audible.com uses deceptive membership sales tactics. See pictures for an example. Audible tries to coerce listeners into subscribing by falsely leading them to believe they can continue listening to the next book in the series. However, if you don't scroll down and read the fine print you won't realize the book you are trying to listen to does not release for another two months. At no point does Audible let the subscriber know that what they offer is only a preorder and that the subscriber will have to pay for 3 months of audible to be able to listen to the book they are interested in.
