I've ordered from CSI many times and for a while now, but over the past year or so, almost every order has had some problem, whether it be damaged cards sent in lieu of NM that I ordered, missing cards from order that no one mentions until I reach out and they admit that there was some inventory issue, or the wrong card being sent (some obvious mistakes that should not be made) and only THEN will I be refunded for them. Because of this, I've started to order less frequently from them and have mostly been going somewhere else.
Recently, I decided to give them another go. They had some cards I really wanted, and it was only about 27 cards split up over three orders. I thought "can they really screw up this time with only a few cards being ordered"? Well, a few days later I received an email stating a $35 card (Undaunted Umbreon Holo – a rare card to find and so many people are losing their minds over the Eeveelutions lately – was "lost", and they couldn't find it. Not that there was an error in the database, not that they sold it in store and forgot to update their online inventory. But that they "lost" it. They had never reached out to me before about not sending cards in my order, but this time they felt the need to tell me it's "lost". How, and why?
The following is conjecture;
I strongly suspect an employee saw the card before it was shipped to me and really wanted it, so instead of honoring the fact that it was at that point mine since I had already paid for it, they let them take it and cancelled my order. I have no proof, and this is just my opinion, but it's terribly suspicious. With the terrible quality control, and now the possible shady practices, I don't know if I want to order from them again.
I love TCGs, board games, and that entire space. I rarely review anything negatively and usually just take the hits as they come, but my latest experience with this company has completely soured my experience and prompted this review.
Over the course of 15 years I've spent almost $30k on CSI. $30,000. This place was my go-to for almost everything. I've bought tons of board games from this site even when cheaper options were available in order to support them. I've bought singles I could have bought from Ebay or TCGPlayer for lower prices. I've also recommended this place to as many people in my board gaming and card gaming community.
If I order an item or items and that order is cancelled by the company, I fully understand and accept that the company has every right to do so for whatever reason they deem valid. What I do not expect is that I am not notified of this change in any email or notification. I do not expect that I only receive a refund for this order after I have reached out to support about the missing order. I also do not expect to be told by support that it should not come as a surprise to me that this happened.
What kind of business cancels an order worth over $1000+ and does not convey this information to the buyer, or issue the refund at the time of cancellation, or give any indication that a refund is coming at the time of cancellation for over a month after the order has been placed because, and I quote exactly from a support email: "other customer issues have higher priority" and expect them to not be surprised when that customer finds out on their own that this has happened?
I can no longer in good faith recommend this company to anyone and I will no longer be using this site or company for anything.
I have bought cards and sealed product multiple times. Only ever had one slip up on a card being shipped had a timely refund to problems here would give a ten if I could
After years of orders from this company, their latest customer service and shipping has left me disappointed.
I sold them cards via their buylist, and about half of them were rejected as "too damaged" when they were all 100% Near Mint. The other half were marked down in price because they were deemed a played or damaged when they are actually Near Mint. To get my items back, they charge you $2.77 for shipping or you can make an order and get them for free. I ordered two near mint cards, and low and behold, the cards that arrived were not near mint (heavily played).
Not Trustworthy
"I bought about 20 MTG cards that were listed as NEAR MINT FOIL. About half of them were HEAVILY PLAYED or DAMAGED. Very disappointed. I wont be buying any more items from this untrustworthy source."
Ordered a bunch of games for gifts, all my orders were canceled, because they wanted people to buy large orders for free shipping, not pay shipping like I did. This is the last place I will order from as I have had other issues in past but this one really made me mad as their customer service
Never got anything
Not the money or the stuff/
Buying is at your own risk
Love this company. Great prices with a customer loyalty program that lowers prices every time you place an order. They ship quickly, too.
