Poor customer service
August 10, 2015

Wow! A customer service rep yelling at me because they didn't ship the order correctly? Incredible. I'll be doing my business elsewhere next year.

Ordered some specific brushes for a film production - we order most of our products, goods, trims, fabrics etc online from all over the world so we are used to shipping, ordering etc. We even provided our FEDEX number to the company. None of that seems to matter... This has been the most ridiculously slow process I have ever seen. Timeline: Ordered some brushes May 16, and probably won't see them until June 03. If all of our vendors conducted their business like the DickBlick company does theirs, we would never get to camera on time. Holy cow bad customer service!

I must report here that I've never had worse customer service than that which I am receiving now from dickblick.com.

At a point in the past, I created a wish list that I never intended anyone to see. I did not publish it.

Before Christmas I created a 2014 Christmas Wish List and sent it out to friends and family.

Not a single copy of my wish list arrived, not even the copy I sent to myself. Consequently, I received things I didn't want for Christmas from well intended family members. One family member searched the website for my name and only came up with the wish list that no one was ever intended to see. He purchased an item, an expensive easel.

Now I am trying to return the easel and I am also being charged the full freight to return plus a heavy restocking charge.

Repeated calls have failed to get any satisfaction at all. They accept no responsibility at all for their failure to have a manageable wish list or to stand by their service promises.

I am actually shocked at the poor customer service I have received.

Do NOT try and order a gift for someone else from the webpage.
After paying for expedited shipping, my order was held because
It was shipping to a different address. Apparently this is a red flag for
Them ( because no one buys art supplies as gifts?) My shipping time
Increased by several days as they "held" it past the ship out time.
A birthday present will now be late, and they were EXTREMELY rude and condescending on the phone and offered absolutely no solution to fix the issue they caused.

Our records indicate that your order was placed on 11/7/14 with an original estimated delivery date of 11/13/14. You selected FedEx@home for delivery which can be a quicker delivery method however it is not an expedited service and processing of these orders may still take up to two business days. While there may have been a slight delay while we made the security check, your order was still processed on time and the tracking indicates the order was delivered on 11/12/14, a day ahead of schedule. We appreciate your feedback and do apologize for any inconvenience that this anti-fraud measure had caused for you.

Went to get my school kit and they said they were sold out but they had all the individual items. I said OK but can I still get the student kit price just without it all taped together and they said no. Whats the difference? Why wouldn't you provide good customer service and honor the price I had on my class coupon? Wont be going here anymore.

When they get my order right, it's great. More often than not, there is some type of issue. Their policy of holding the ENTIRE order for one back ordered item is ridiculous. Any other online retailer I've ordered from will send you what is in stock and the rest will come later. I also don't really like how they don't actually charge your card until they go to ship. On a few occasions there has been an issue with the card I have through my credit union, and instead of finding out immediately I find out later. So annoying. A few weeks ago I ordered a copper plate, was sent the wrong size, it took forever to get the new one, and then when I got the right one it was bent! Instead of trying to get them to fix it, I just went to the effort of flattening it out myself. On my most recent order I paid for overnight shipping, and I was on the phone with reps making sure my payment had gone through and was told everything was fine. It wasn't. I have the charge on two different cards now and no order. When I argued my point on the phone, the rep didn't even entertain the idea that it was their fault and I was entitled to a reimbursement of some shipping. When you pay 40+ dollars for shipping and it doesn't actually get there overnight, that is incredibly frustrating. If it's not here tomorrow, I guess I'm going to have to be one of those nasty customers on the phone, which I try not to be. This will probably be the last time I order from DB. I will drive two hours to the nearest decent art store and save myself the headache.

I am not satisfied dickblick.com products. Before one week I purchased some paint from this site for glass painting. But I got the old stock paint so I cannot paint on the glass and the paint is not fixing in to the glass. I checked the expiry date but they did not mention the expiry date on the bottle. After the checking I tried to call many times but they did not give good response.

I ordered about 500+ dollars worth of paint and one of the half gallon bottles had swelled and leaked. Somewhere in transit the shipping folks wrapped it in cellophane and sent it on its way to my house. Why oh why? Anyway. I called dick blick and they sent me a new bottle of paint right away and did not want the other bottle shipped back. Saved me a lot of hassle. Thank you.

Love this site! They have SO many art items that you just can't find anywhere else. They're a bit pricy on some things, but the shipping has always been fast & items have been well-packed.

This is a great site for art supplies! Paint, canvases, paper - whatever kind of art you do. They ship quickly and everything is packaged nicely. Even if you don't do any "art" per se, there are probably useful items for other sorts of projects too. Price wise, they're significantly cheaper than my mortar and brick art supplies store (sadly...) so although they charge tax for my state, they often run free shipping specials for a minimum so it evens out.

Otherwise, the shipping is dependent on weight/price which can get kind of expensive so it's really the most economic to order a bunch of stuff you definitely need and might need :).
