When my sister called on.my mothers behalf to pay her bill she was told they were going up on her bill. When my sister explained that my mother was on a fixed income and couldn't pay more the agent actually referred and helped my sister connect my mother to direct tv. After Direct TV installed her equipment and unhooked the Dish equipment we called back about returning the equipment and they told her she still had 17 months on her contract and would have to charge her 170 plus 20 dollars per box to return their equipment. If she was still under contract for the monthly payments they promised her then how is it that not only were they going up on her bill but helped her connect with Direct TV. Why would they do this if she was in fact still under a contract for a certain payment amount. This company is crooked and unprofessional.
I received a notice that my bill was passed due and it was $486 so I looked through my account to see what was going on with my billing and found 17 pay-per-view events that no one in this household purchased the lowest one was 499 the most expensive was 85.99 for a grand total of $410 in pay-per-view purchases that apparently a ghost purchased in my house. So of course I called customer service one was rude supposed to transfer me to a supervisor who after talking to for 3 minutes hung up on me. The third time I got a hold of a resolution specialist who actually spoke English and she turned out to be the best customer service rep I had talked to yet. Money for that I am being refunded $240 and she helped me set up a parental passcode so that this would never happen again. I know for a fact that no one in this house both of my parents which are in their mid 80s did not order any of this so we will see what happens now with the passcode. Yes their customer service is a joke but I didn't have to wait long I was given a call back and this is cheaper than the cable company in my area I get a good bang for my buck so long as I'm not getting ripped off by a ghost. Also my reception no problems.
Dish doesn't work majority of the time, always having "technical errors" and are "working on getting them fixed" however they never do. They may put a temporary fix but will never be fixed for good! From using the DVR to dropping channels. Just know if you go with Dish you will get shotty service and shotty customer help! DONT DO IT!
I subscribed to Dish 2 years ago. It was a 2 year contract that ended DEC. 22 2023. About 2 months ago I contacted their CS dept. to ascertain what they would offer to continue using their service. Their best offer was the basic package at $120/month.
On Christmas Eve 2023 I received an email from them with a bill for $150. They had added, (without permission), a "priority service" fee of $12. I believe that this day was specifically chosen because, in their rationale, nobody would cancel service on Christmas Eve. They were wrong. After hours of trying to reach a person, whilst being incessantly told how important my call was I did finally reach a live person. " I want to cancel service" I advised. "What is your A/C #?". " I do not know" "What is your tel. #?" "We do not recognize that #"
After several minutes of this I told them that I had received the bill by way of email so check my email address. They found me.
We have good news for you they said, We can offer you your existing service for $100/ month. I briefly considered this but opted to continue with cancellation, my reasoning, - I had caught them trying to pull a fast trick so how could I now trust them.
I now enjoy pretty much the same service on Roku for $6 / month. Dish will gradually fail.
3 major problems: 1- horrible customer service. 2- horrible product- always breaking down and dropping signal. 3- they constantly have network contract problems, and just disappear channels that you pay for. No compensation.
They refused to cancel my contract. 1 of my boxes was over heating. A representative replaced the box with an upgraded box without making me aware that it automatically renews my contract. At the end of my actual contract they refused to cancel it, and charged me for a whole new contract. I never agreed to any of it including upgrading that 1 box. She claimed my contract end date wasn't going to change, because she had to change the box to something else. They never reported to credit bureaus my payments. They claim they do that. They actually didn't close my account when I requested, and sent back all the equipment like they said. Never again. They're the worse. Stay away from Dish Network. I also had a man that works as a representative in billing tell me how much to pay off my contract. When a month went by after paying it off they sent me a bill wanting more money. I already qent them everything back.
Had to put mom in rest home. No longer able to work remote or hear TV. Charged her $200 to stop service.
Took 45min to get service cancelled. They have a bull$#*! answer for everything and won't take no for an answer. Cancelled my service as well because of constant price hikes. STAY AWAY. Go with Netflix or Hulu.At least they have something to watch and very reasonable rates. Thanks for nothing.CROOKS.
Our service went out, no signal, they said they have to send a technician out but have to wait 4 days! My contract is up in February so switching to YouTube tv. Avoid dish network!
Stay away different price every month constant battle play same shows all the time never change up tv land worst play same movies all the time please don't give your credit card number

Why not a local channel...CBS!
Our channel 7 has not been on for a few years now! We have to pay and use Paramount streaming!
WHY NOT? They can't pay for it! Really I pay over $140 month! I'm pretty much anti-dish! Cheaters!
I never liked this service; we got it back when my wife's soaps weren't available same-day online. The user interface is terrible, even as a software engineer I can understand how it's set up but not how they could imagine any human being, myself included, would like it.
But the worst of all is the way they cheat you. At installation time they make you buy some of the equipment but lease other parts (and they hide the detail that what you're only leasing includes a box attached to the dish on your roof, until you try to discontinue), and they send an installer. But when you want to quit, they require return all the "leased" parts, and they don't even promise that you'll be charged less if you send back the main receiver without the box from your roof.
Absolutely no reason to give these jerks any of your money.
I called them just to get pricing for a house I was buying. They wanted my birthdate, credit card number, social security number and the answers to my credit card file questions. I ended the call at that point. I would rather deal with a different company even if it costs more.
Have had dish for over 3 years now but today canceled. Payment just came out a couple days ago for 156 but they only wanted to refund me less than 100 now that I want to cancel. No, you can give me the FULL refund since it's only been a couple days of service. I will be getting my full refund one way or another. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. Every agent I speak to tells me something different with channels, prices, everything! Cable should only be $60 or less for channels & dvr. No credit checks and contracts is how it should be with every cable company also.
I will NEVER give dish my business again or any cable company for that matter that just wants to lie, be ignorant, and charge ever dollar they can from you. Stick with your low cost apps to watch tv and movies!
My moms been paying my cable bill for 4 years now. She had dish to, but canceled and I'm about to do the same and get free cable and keep other movie/TV streaming devices because cable is pathetic how much it is and they will raise your bill and scam you to get $. They just raised the bill because the contract apparently expired. Was already paying a good amount over $100 for 2 boxes, 1 running off of wifi/the other box. Cable should be maybe 50 a month for 2 boxes and good amount of channels.
Also their customer service sucks. Unhelpful and not friendly. The guy who came and set it up at my place 2 years ago I didn't care for either and he touched my car while squeezing between it to go in garage from outside. Disrespectful.
I have paper work and names of everything they have said and they have the audio recordings that they cannot listen to to verify what was said. If dish hired incompetent people then dish is liable for this. My name is Rodney juett contact me.
I had a minor problem with my on screen guide, so I called what Dish laughingly calls customer service. As close as I could figure, considering the rep spoke Englabout as well as my dog does, they wanted to charge me $96 for a service call --this on top of the $152 I pay each month. When I balked, the rep (I think) tried to get me to switch to Direct TV, which I dumped a few years ago because of its frequent price increases and abysmal customer service. After being interrupted several times as I tried to simply get my problem fixed at no cost, I hung up.
Dish Network has rhe worst customer service I ever experienced. No one speaks English and the reps don't listen to or give a assn about your problem. I'm seriously considering switching to cable.
We had Dish network installed about 8 years ago, I called last week to cancel our services as we just have not really used it in months. They offered some good incentives to keep the service going and to even update some of the equipment but we truly do not use it. I declined and started the process to cancel our service upon finishing the representative asked me if I had any other questions, I asked when we could schedule to have the equipment removed. He said, You can keep the equipment. I said thank you but we really do not have a use for it and would like it removed. He then told me the the equipment we have is absolute and they do not need it returned. I again requested that the equipment be removed. I was told "I'm sorry mam you canceled your services so we can not help you with that". You have to have pay an outside company to take it down (this all happened within the same phone call) I asked for a supervisor and the basically the same conversation happened. I kept insisting and finally the supervisor said ok, we can send someone out between!2-5pm tomorrow to take it down. I said Fantastic! The next day came and went and Dish network did not come to take their equipment. The only thing I got the next day was a new bill ( even though my old bill was paid till 10/30 and this was 10/25). I received a new bill which stated it was due immediately with a late fee attached to it as well.
I called back again, they have no record as to why they did not come to take the equipment, no explanation why I have a new bill with a late fee applied either.
Someone is definitely having fun playing games at Dish network!
I will NEVER RECOMMEND THEM to anyone again!
Can never reach a person put on hold for an hour no one calls back this is unacceptable especially if you are having problems with your service
DISH NETWORK ARE SCUM BAGS
Forewarned is forearmed.
I don't recommend DISH NETWORK.
Had 2 different installers in 3 days. It still is not working.
Installers not showing up on appointment dates, when they show up they don't have the expertise to get it to work.
Takes an hour for them to get on the phone, if your not disconnected first.
DISH will NOT let me cancel without paying a $500 fee and I have had this system 3 Days.
DISH is not able to use my email address because their computer says it is invalid, therefore I am not able to contact them via internet because DISH NETWORK'S email says my email is invalid. If I need to talk to DISH I have to call and WAIT an hour for someone at DISH to pick up unless it hangs up and then I have to call back and start all over again.
I have had the same email address for 30 yrs
2 years with these scum and I am gone.
Just wanted to $#*! and complain and hope you don't mind. I also wanted to warn you away.
My ABC channel and METV channel are turned off and am still paying for a service that dish is not providing.my bill is the same.dish is saying that they are looking out for the customer.but who is still getting paid for a service that they refuse to give...the CEO of dish makes 10.82 million a year.if he cared about the customer he would give back some of his pay to help...I also lost fox Midwest 3 years ago...I can't watch mo favorite baseball team or college football team cuz dish refuses to give me my channels back. Don't buy dish network service cuz u will not get what u pay for...and I tried to call today and ask about this and was put on hold for over 3 hours...nobody ever picked up the phone.just another lie...they won't even talk to u...stay away from this total loser of a company
The absolute worst for sports fans. I live in South Florida but I can't watch the Marlins, Panthers or Heat. Also, they dropped the local ABC affiliate. They will raise your bill while they eliminate channels. Just don't subscribe.
Answer: Because it sounds great to have 1200 channels even if 1195 channels are nothing but infomercials, most people like me think wow I will have so many movies to watch I might have to record 5 while I watch 1 but after you get your 1200 channels you realize most every movie you would like to see can only be viewed if you pay an extra rental fee, another huge disadvantage to satellite tv is the frequency of commercials and the time the commercials are shown, regular tv used to be a 2 minute commercial break, dish network and directv have over 5 minute commercial breaks
Answer: Yes ive been with them for 15 years and when i said this is ridiculous the guy said 'OK' and nothing more they are terrible
Answer: They bait and switch with their supposed DVR recording option that they change to On Demand, making it impossible for you to watch what you thought you recorded.
