Dollar General can be convenient for quick grabs, my recent experience was utterly frustrating and disrespectful. I was shopping there and picked up what I believed to be a a sale item, brand of shampoo in two different spots in the store with conflicting prices. The staff member initially confirmed it was on sale, but at the checkout station, it did not apply. I tried to inform the cashier of the error but the "real" price was at the checkout. I tried to find that employee but my request were ignored. A real waste of time.

Rude manager
June 24, 2025

Very RUDE manager on duty last night, flipped me off in the parking lot. I was pushing my cart towards her after unloading my groceries, she was pushing another cart in from the lot. I was expecting she would take the cart from me, she was smoking a cigarette so I knew she wasnt going back in the store yet. I was clearly pushing the cart to her, but she completely ignored me, so I left the cart close to the front door. After I turned around, my husband saw her flip me off. So I went up to her and asked her why she flipped me off and she says, "because I can," just as snotty as it could be said. I asked her name and she covered her badge so I couldnt see it, then went cowering into the store. If zero stars was an option, that is certainly what she would have gotten. I dont think I will ever be going to that store again.

Over Charge

I was over charged on an item I purchased today. I asked the manager if it was on sale because It was in 2 places in the store at 2 different prices. She said no and took the sign and when I asked if she would honor the sale price she said yes. When I got to the car I added the ticket up and I was not given the sale price. I went back in a told her I won't have bought it if it wasn't and sale and I wanted a refund. She acted like I should have just paid the price she charged and not said anything. She was rude and disrespectful. She huffed and puffed the whole time she was issuing the refund. I was over charge more then $12.00. I live on Social Security and if that is how Dollar General treats there customers I don't have to shop there. This is not the first time I have been over charged for a sale item.

This is the worst dollar general EVERRR. The employees are always so rude. The shelves are NEVER stocked. There is always stuff in the isle so you can't get around. Seems like they can't ever keep anyone! I would NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

Lost a customer

I went to the Dollar General today. Store # is ******* Kevil Ky. Going by the website and the signs in the store to pick up my client some leggings. Price rung up over $11. When I told the girl at the check out, she said it didn't matter, I had to pay what they rung up. Her manger, Amanda came up and gave me the $5 for them. This employee is always rude to me and others. When I left bith were laughing. Something needs to be done to this lady. I will drive extra miles to go to another store!

A bully manager

I purchased some Lays potato chips five days ago. I thought they were buy two get one free, but they were buy two get two free. I tried to call the store by the number on the receipt to see if I could come back and get my two bags free and the phone number went to busy signal. If you call the number right now, it comes right to a busy signal. I drove back to the store that night with my receipt trying to get my bags of chips. It was a Friday night. The store manager said that I couldn't use my receipts. I needed to have the bags of chips. I told him I would've known that if the phone had been working. I had the receipt, but he said I needed the bags of chips. He was a bully. I actually wrote into Dollar General website to complain about this and didn't hear a word. Don't go to the Dollar General in Wildwood Florida on 301.

Sale items notavailale

I visited 5 DG stores this week within 7 miles of my house for the first time in about 6 months to purchase some iterms in addition to several sale items. None of the 5 stores had any of the sale items so I did not buy anything. This just reminded me why I have not shopped at DG in a long time. They never have any of the items that they claim to have on sale. The sale ad is just a ploy to get people into the store hoping that they will buy something else. Not me. I did not buy anything.

I worked there for a few days at the DG market. I wasn't trained properly. I scanned boxes on day 1. Day 2 I watched the policies online. Day 3 someone showed me how to open the safe and let me use do the register a few times. I was told I wouldn't be alone for a while until I was trained. Day 4 the schedule has me working alone for 3 hours and closing the store. I wasn't trained to do any of that. So I had to quit. I didn't even know how to turn the lights off or on. It's a horrible company to work for. The staff has a couple of nice people but the women were very unfriendly and cold towards me. It wasn't a good work environment anyway. They throw you to the wolves and play favorites. Beware!

As usual I've been ripped off By dollar general! Not only did the boy Who checked me out lie about My savings being reflected, But when I ask to put my number in so I should be sure to get my number Savings he wouldn't let me, and stated I didn't need to He saw the savings reflected Already... And of course I guess it's my responsibility to make sure I get a receipt!? I was stupefied At the total after being told my discount was applied come to find out I was ripped off For $5.75... Yeah that's not a whole lot but it's enough When you have to put up with rude People that are ripping you off constantly... This company Has nickel dime and dollar'd me Repeatedly Almost every time I go in there there's Manipulation! I would say would be fair to say Through the years they probably taking me for over $60... It feels like A punch in the gut when I know they rip me off and I don't even wanna deal with it cause she'll spend hours and hours and hours and hours and hours talking to rude people And you'll never get your money Back! I think this company should give their customers Extra funds When they have to spend hours on the phone to try to collect money that was outright stolen from them by their employees... I tried to call immediately when I realized I was ripped off And nobody will answer the phone at the store that ripped me off Or any other store!

8350 Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN *******, 2024/08/07: Survey-for-drawing-entry part of receipt was given, and change amount announced, but the transaction part of the receipt was not given so survey cannot be taken. Announced change amount was given, but at home review of prices shown online for same products at that store (which match remembered shelf labels) comes up cheaper (with tax included) than what was paid. Conforms with consensus...Buyer beware.

I bought a gift card at dollars general store ******* and and saw an employee tried to active and can not complete and call manager to come to solved problem but can not fix it and gave the gift card along with a receipt so tried to redeem gift card at register right away and it was not valid when I complained it the manager gave a worst behavior then said that it is customer responsibility for the invalid gift card and call amazon to claim money back /and tried to cover up the problem when i talked louder for all other customers around to hear then manager threatened me to stop complaining for the invalid gift or she will call police to drive me out
I don't know whether complaint at dollars store for a invalid gift card sold will be illegal? I was so scared when i thought i may be arrested if i was not stopped and dollars general corporation may approved for manager to do
Compared to two years ago when I bought a gift card at giant Eagle and was in valid and received a replacement right away along with all smiles faces of giant Eagle employees
Advice to everyone
So I lost $100 for unreasonable.my gift card wad not redeemed so amazon will not collect money the guest who will get my $100?
