Great cloud service for using to pass files among your presonal devices or store some photos/music for the same purpose. Nothing to complain on for me.
I opened a business account using my personal credit card for a start up. Company went under and I closed the account. 7 months later they charge my credit card! To make matters worse - you can't get in touch with them. If you call, you are routed to press this and that until they tell you to go to the help section of their website. The website does the same until it looks like you can submit - but that doesn't work. It won't submit! And live chat? Please go to the help center for further assistance. Crooks.
Customer Service by email only meaning it takes at least 4 hours for them to reply to even the most important issues (such as a security issue I had) So, Im meant to sit around for 4 hours waiting on a technician to get back to me? My files kept getting deleted and I was genuinely concerned about the security to my data, dropbox constantly send back templated responses telling me to check their help section out. Absolute joke, I will be cancelling once I get my data sorted.
I have an open ticket for 3 days now, no answer, They kept saying I am out of my space and need upgrade, I have been paying their upgrade program for some times. I now can't upload to my account, I dont' know how they exist. Their customer is soo bad.
Don't sign up for the tricky "free" Dropbox. There is nothing free about it. With a request for credit card info and option to only chose 3 or more accounts, they will charge $450 for not dropping their crap program. No refunds even tough I have no use for it. I had to request details on what I was charged for three times via email, no phone.
Why would you do business with a company that does not answer their phone?
Why would you do business with a company that does't have customer service?
Why would you do business with a company that has 429,000 complaints listed on the internet? I do not know how they got my credit card number and charged me without my permission. I will report this to some federal agency. Its alot like stealing. Their business should be investigated by the appropriate agency and fined.
Very disappointed in their service. They marked a dispute as "solved" and closed it even though they did not solve my problem. They have refused to offer a refund for service that was NEVER USED. I would definitely not recommend them due to these poor business practices.
Support sux, no phone support at all. Can't access my files since went overlimit, they asking me to pay in order to access my files, WTF.
NO WAY TO CANCEL THEY GET YOUR CREDIT CARD AND THEN THEY CHARGE AWAY! How can this be LEGIT! I CLICKED ON THE FREE BUISNESS TRIAL WITHOUT READING REVIEWS you would think they would be a LEGIT COMPANY! SCAM SCAM SCAM AND NO ONE TO TALK TO NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL SOMEONE PLEASE SUE THEM!
Dropbox is manipulative and pushy. They badger you with encouragements to upgrade without letting you download the files you need to. Why would I want to pay more for a service that is so frustrating to interact with in the first place? Every time a pop up takes me to the upgrade screen, I want to upgrade less and less.
If you go to Drop box to get help... Well good luck. The only people that will talk to you are sales. Be crystal clears sales can't help you so that is the end of the story. If you sign up and give them money you are AT HOSTAGE UNTIL YOU ARE SMART ENOUGH TO FIND A WAY TO GET OUT OF IT. Customer service number? No luck, and their tech support... well if you reach them they say " wrong number". NOT COOL
I have been using the free site for years. Now I have unauthorized charge on my cc, They have a NO REFUND policy. Bunch of scammers!
I used dropbox for two years and enjoyed their services; but I cancelled in 2012 because I no longer needed those services. I called twice to cancel services because it wasn't done the first time. In 2014 they decided to start charging my card again. I didn't discover it until this year and that's my fault.
Word to the wise - if you take the service make sure you want to keep it - because they don't turn loose of your credit card info. I've been charged $400 in error and no one has contacted me.
I`m using the service for sharing the files through all my devices - its easy and convenient. As for myself - I wouldnt recommend to store something really important here, but as a personal cloud storage this one works great!
I've been using DropBox for almost 7 montsh now and I absolutely love the product. Easy to use, no issues whatsoever. BTW, their customer support team got in contact with me very quickly and resolved as soon as I had an issue.
Following the 2012 data breach, I followed advice and added 2FA to my personal account - even though it's mostly photos of things like the deceased pet that got out of the fence, and personal notes - mainly just photos and stuff because android doesn't back up to iCloud and since I swap between them when I upgrade it was an easy way to get out of the ecosystem lock in.
Anyhow, I wasn't aware at the time that Dropbox evidently has zero backup system in place in case you lose access to that phone number beyond the "emergency backup code". I'll admit, I could have found a better place to stow it (I'm assuming I had one, as I don't actually remember getting one) so that years down the road in the off chance it became relevant I could use it. But I didn't. So now, 5+ years of photos and data are just gone. Poof. Well, not gone. I just can't have them. I know my password. But I don't have that number. Dropbox is super sorry, but I'm just screwed. But they'll totally transfer over the bonus storage. Because obviously that's what I need. Extra space for all the data I don't have and won't be backing up to their service anymore.
I really adore Dropbox team. Their products are great, innovative and intuitive. paper.dropbox.com is another prove of it. Since its appering we switched from google docs to it
They charged my credit card unauthorized, I have sent email through their support system and requested refund, but there are no reply.
I`m still not sure if its safe to store something in ANY of the cloud services, but this one seems ok to me. Atleast I didnt find anything wrong using it for 2 years. Not a premium(or how thats called?) user, just personal file storing, low amount of info
I made the mistake of not doing enough research before wasting my time downloading the free version, the commercial reviews, obviously sponsored by Dropbox have no coalition to the private review sites which are more accurate. I thank the Gods I didnt waste money buying Pro as the free version is trash. Dropbox was a great concept destroyed by some morons trying to invade your life or business. It doesnt achieve its original concept, it has been polluted, over complicated, unnavigable and just doesnt work now. The best think with Dropbox is deleting it then working out how to stop the trash email flood. If you are a lifeless nerd desperate to iCloud your privates and a miserable failed life to more desperate imbeciles then Dropbox is for you because you may have the time to get it to work, Dropbox may even employ you to optimise it further.
Answer: TRUE THEY SCAMMED ME TOO!
Answer: SCAMMERS!
Answer: I hope there is a class action suit and I will join it.
Answer: Dropbox customer support will soft talk you into thinking they are helping to put a stop to their fraudulent charges, but in the end they actually do nothing. I don't believe they have an in-house system to stop credit card charges. There are many crooked companies that do business this same way as well. How many people don't read their credit card statement in full every month? And the dropbox folks rake in the fraudulent charges people don't catch. Call them, and they say "we're sorry" it won't happen again. I went through that three times and finally had to re-issue my card with a new number. Shown is a canned text statement below sent to people with billing problems: >"I will need all of the following information for security reasons and to locate the charge to assist you:"< > Card type First six digits of the card Last four digits of the card Full name on the credit card charged Date of charge Amount charged Billing postal code< "Dear Dropbox, If I spent the same amount of time, it takes to cancel a CC looking at the thousands of negative online reviews before I bought Dropbox I would be well ahead of the game. I added my negative review of dropbox to the many already online after I changed the CC number on my Visa, of course. And no, I will not give you any more cc numbers or names. Dropbox has a worldwide reputation of continuous charges once they get your number. Did you think I just fell off the turnip truck? LOL Goodbye Forever,"
Answer: I was unsuccessful as well. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card. It is still being investigated. My wife was successful in getting a refund on a new account that she never used, within 7 days of paying. She is the only one I know of that has done that successfully.
