I emailed Fitbit's customer service as my Fitbit has suffered a bit of damage in hopes of seeing if a replacement was possible I wasn't sure if I was out of policy or not. Cesar let me know that he was happy to provide me with a complimentary replacement. Prompt replies and and courteous service. Simply amazing and hassle-free!
I had the BEST experience with the Fitbit support staff. For all the Fitbit users or potential Fitbit purchasers, the customer service I just received was over the moon incredible. Highly recommended to reach out to them if something happens.
After 10 months of owning my Fitbit Charge HR, it decided one day that it wouldn't sync. I let the Fitbit run out of battery and turned it back on where I was surprised to see a progress bar on the screen. At 50% it stopped and then never budged. Even after multiple restart attempts, it would just sit on the progress bar. No tracking and no syncing. I contacted the support staff to ask for help, thinking that since I've had my device for close to a year, I would be SOL. However, they were great and quick to action! They walked me through some troubleshooting with my device, and were able to make some attempts from their side as well. When it became apparent that my device was not going to play well with others, they let me know they would be sending me a replacement device. I was notified of the new one's shipping, and it arrived quickly. I have never been so happy with a customer service team, as I have with Fitbit's great group of people.
Now that's how you handle problems! So so so so pleased. Wahooooo Fitbit!
I ordered directly from the Fitbit website from the Australian store. After a quick search on Twitter I found that the problems I was having was common.
1) My item was NOT shipped on the same day. It was ordered well before the 11AM AEST. It was shipped 24 hours AFTER I initiated an email asking what was happening. No reply to the email either.
2) No reply on Facebook via their messaging set up. Also no surprises to why they switched their "Visitor Posts" off as the replies to their content are largely from people dissatisfied with their Fitbits or chasing up orders.
3) They only responded on Twitter after I shamed them into doing so. This was 8 hours after sending them a private message as they requested. During these 8 hours, the account was active replying to a whole host of people.
4) They also switched their method of shipping my item. The first contact from them indicated Startrack Parcel Services was being used and then when the item was actually sent it was via Australia Post e-Parcel Service. The latter has less tracking updates and takes longer. I had also opted for a $5 payment of the faster service but upon checkout it was removed.
The online shop is great at taking money from your account but woeful at meeting their contractual promises.
I've had a FitBit Flex for several years and it's made a big difference in my overall health and fitness. Fitness trackers don't magically give you motivation, but if you're motivated already it can give you that extra boost. The Flex is simple to use. Just sync it into your computer account and you're good to go. You can choose how much you want to keep track of. Some folks want to track everything. I just use it for steps and competing with friends. The only issue some people have with the site is they don't answer online requests very quickly if at all. The best advice is to call customer service and speak to a live human...*******997. They're very good with replacing broken or defective devices for free but you have to call.
I have had three different devices from Fitbit, customer service from them is excellent. I had an issue with my charge and my surge not syncing with my phone to receive call/text notifications. Customer service took their time to solve my issue, in fact issue was with app, service rep went above and beyond to help me. At first he could not solve issue then told me he had to filter up my call ticket to thier it department I left it at that, an hour later I got a call and email from rep that he had researched the Fitbit community and found some other solutions to try. Well one of those answers worked it was as simple as changing the font size on my device. Very impressed that he took time to follow up and ensure my issue was solved, doesn't hurt the product is great as well.
They say they have sleep tracking but if they do I get two and a half hours a night. When in fact I get 8 to 9 hours. I have called many times and they have poorly trained people and what they send in an e mail does not work. They have no user guide so you are on your own. It is great for tracking distance and seeing your heart rate but customer service is non existence. They finally sent me a new HR and it did not work. I just got another replacement and the sleep function still does not work and I have to plug the HR into the computer because it will not sync with bluetooth. I recommend not purchasing a Fitbit!
My Fitbit charge began peeling along the outside edge. I contacted customer service via email, and within 24hrs I was notified they'd be happy to send me a replacement at no cost. I was only asked simple questions in order to begin processing: Size, color, type of Fitbit. They apologized for the inconvienance it caused me, and I received my new one in the mail within 6 business days.
This company seemed to genuinely care that their customer was taken care of. I'll be doing business with them in the future.
After fitbit was sitting for a couple months, I went to recharge it and found that it wasn't working at all. I contacted the company because I hadn't had the fitibit long enough or used it long enough for it to short circuit. Inititaly they said they couldn't help and that fitbits don't last forever. I'm aware of this, but think it should last longer than just 2-3 months of use. They then offered me a discount on my next purchase, but I really am not interested in a device that costs a lot for working a little. When the fitbit worked, it was great.
We went to Australia for Christmas to stay with our son who bought his dad and I FitBits. We arrived back in the USA January 15 and began trying to get help to set up our Fitbits. NO LUCK AFTER HOURS OF TRYING. Decided we should return them but NO. We have to take them back to Australia to get a refund! What a lousy company who does not stand by its product. DISGUSTED!
The Fitbit is basically a tool that anyone can use to track and quantify activity in the form of activity. That I know of they have three or four different types of devices, some are worn like a watch, some are small (quarter sized?) and they clip on to a belt, bra strap (hubba hubba), or pants pocket (or wherever). I first bought The Flex which is a wrist band. I had it only for a week and my wife had to have one too. We are both in our 40's and we are making efforts to lose weight and be healthier. We'd heard about these at loseit.com. The devices were highly recommended by many in the loseit.com community and for good reason. The Fitbit does a great job of giving the wearer a more clear and accurate portrait of activity metrics (calories burned in particular) than simply guessing based on age, weight, and sex.
I've used mine for about 6 months or so and it's worked great. I love it. My wife used it for about 4 months without a problem but then developed a small rash on her wrist where she wore her Fitbit. She let the rash heal completely, and tried wearing it again and the irritation reappeared almost immediately. She did try to wash the band before trying it again.
This was really not all the drama. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the folks at Fitbit are not purposely or inadvertently infusing nefarious bacteria into their wrist bands. We (humans) are living, breathing, oozing, sweating, leaking, bacteria laden creatures. IMHO, Fitbit has absolutely no culpability in this matter which is why we were so surprised by their response to my wife's request for advice.
Fitbit offered to send a replacement unit. In her case, they are sending The One which is a clip version which she'll wear on a belt or clothing.
These folks get it. Rather than shuck and jive, leaving customers to solve the issue on their own or simply lose the opportunity to use the device, the folks at Fitbit are actively guarding their reputations and relationships with their customers by going the extra mile in helping folks with this situation. I've read countless other accounts of them doing the same for others.
Great company, great product, great customers service... and an overall great customer experience.
The Pebble smart watch was supposed to be this big revolutionary product when they got their kickstarter funding and scored big with their $5M in funding. I think we all thought they would have all of these amazing apps at the time of launch. Instead what we got was what many called a "prototype". Now finally they have a steel version of the same watch which should at least look better but they still do not have any killer apps which would keep this watch in the lead. I saw samsungs watch and it looked far better and had more apps available for it that were useful to me. I think the pebble smart watch is a great buy still as that is really all there is available unless you have a samsung note phone. Otherwise, wait for the apple watch as it is supposedly around the corner. If the pebble watch suddenly get more useful apps then I think this could be a great device and I wish them the best.
Fitbit is a neat little device that works like a nintendo wii tracking your daily movements and then calculating your total calories burned. I tried to order one but they are currently backordered as they seem to be in high demand. They do have a partnership with google health to upload your data. Probably a cool gadget for people to track their daily activities and as a physician, I would recommend that people always take the stairs rather than the elevator so if a device like this can inspire people to get more activity into their daily life that would be a good thing. They also claim it can track sleep, and that too could be useful for people to monitor. I like this device as simply a reminder for people to get exercise and get to bed early for sleep... I hope it catches on as it serves a good purpose in promoting health.
