I hope to continue using Hostwinds services for my adult websites for a long time. A better world is created when we have freedom.

It's limited my usage to date. II can't base a review on services until things have been working for a month...

I started registering the service on the Sunday afternoon and reach out to George on the online chat for help with the setting up the account. He jumped right into it and got everything ready for me to work on my VPS within 5 mins. Amazing!

Ive renewed one site and am not renewing the other. That will follow when i get my act together.

I had to submit documentation a total of three times. No where in the instructions did it say an electronic signature was not permitted, and I was told to blur out my debit card information on the actual card but had to provide the number on paper? That doesn't make any sense.

I have had the same web hosting provider since the 1990's and need to find a new one. The services that Hostwinds provides, cPanel in particular, are much more advanced than what I had been using, and even though it is a lot of work, I think it will be worth it. Most of the work has involved migrating from asp.net to php. The chat support is very helpful, but here are some things that they were not able to tell me (for shared business hosting):
• To use the index file in a subdirectory as the 404 error page, put this into the subdirectory's.htaccess file:
ErrorDocument 404 /subdirectory/index.php (the path descends down from public_html).
• To use a server side include, the syntax must be exactly like this (note no space between the initial hyphens and the hash mark; I was going nuts):

And to use ssi's in regular.htm files, put this into the.htaccess file:
AddHandler server-parsed.htm
• Email aliases are created using forwarders.

I'm not very tech savvy and your service personnel are horrible to work with.

I operate a very low volume website on wordpress and with a near $20/m plan it wasn't even capable of using the wordpress control panel. Overloaded shared servers or terrible allocation. I've foolishly used them for nearly 4 years and am extremely glad to have switched. Cheaper and infinitely faster. Never use Hostwinds.
