Worst buisiness!
April 18, 2023

This place is a freaking joke that's all I'm going to say I have done my own taxes for years and I decided to come here because I had sold my house so I am a little overwhelmed this year with documents. After over an hour of this idiot inputting my information into the computer told me I owe $623 for the taxes and I owe the IRS $3,000. LOL I immediately left went home did my own taxes with TurboTax and did not owe anything. These idiots take the basic deductions do not ask any questions do not help you save any money regardless of what their advertisements say they are a piece of s*** do not go there do not waste your money do not waste your time go to a real tax preparer or do your taxes yourself.

StoodUP
April 17, 2023

I had a scheduled phone call that no one answered, and I had a scheduled video call that I was left on the video call. Texas are some of the worst tax people I have ever come across they need new careers and some mental help. If you were scheduled and phones call / Video chat and they are not able to help you. Why don't they call you ahead of time and not waste all your time. Now I'm pissed they wasted my whole day…. Cheryl Matysek 2000 north hwy 157, Mansfield ******* their customer service is the worst both Mansfield Texas offices, suck $#*!……

I have used H&R for years, but I will never use them again. I have been trying to get my state tax filed for over two months. My "tax professional " just can't seem to figure it out. I have made multiple calls, filed a formal complaint against her and I still just get ignored. Shara Peirce is the worst. It is absolutely ridiculous they don't take taxes seriously.

My wife and I have been using H&R Block to prepare our annual returns for years. We had a steady preparer who was knowledgeable and efficient. She retired recently. Our tax situation is very simple normally but this year we had an unusual issue with a gift tax and wanted advice before we made a substantial gift to our son. We scheduled and appointment to discuss the issue in our local office back in July. When we showed up, the office was closed and no one answered the phone. We called Customer Service and got no help whatsoever. We made the gift and another appointment to file our returns early in March. The preparer we were assigned had no idea what forms needed to be filed to report the gift. She told us we would need to speak with a "Level 2" preparer. We made another appointment but soon received an e-mail on March 3rd from the Level 2 person who said she was "looking up for us" about the gift tax and would contact us when she had the answer. Now, as of April 14, we have heard nothing. Fortunately we hired a local CPA for about the same cost as H&R Block. We will NEVER go back to them. They deserve a zero review.

Worst experience
April 12, 2023

H&R Block since they refused to rectify this situation after many many calls and patience. I have used them for a few years now and never had I had such a bad experience with them. The last several months my ex has been able to see all my account information for my taxes. Not only have we been filing separately for the last few years but we have separate accounts with separate email addresses and passwords however our accounts seem to still be "linked". They refuse to refund any fees even though I had to physically go to a physical office to file since I didn't want to upload my documents on the account in fear my ex will see them. They still haven't fixed the account issue as I just received an email in regards to my exes account. They have provided terrible customer service stating it's not their problem and they can't fix it. I followed all the tech support steps created a new account and the problem has yet to be resolved and the least they can do is refund me the fees for experience I've had to endure the last months not to mention last year I filed a peace of mind claim (should have been a red flag to stop using but people make mistakes) and have yet to receive my money back. Most importantly how are they not taking the privacy matter more seriously. Someone being able to see all my private information has to legally not be okay. I didn't change over because I am so close to the deadline and I was also promised fees would be refunded but I also wanted to give them a chance to fix the problem. I now regret giving them my patience and time. How does a company not care about privacy. Very disappointed with this company and will not be using them again do not recommend them and will continue seek advice on privacy implications.

I came in Toronto, Jane street and Finch avenue office at!2noon Monday 10 April to do 2 tax returns mine and my disabled mother
Was as told I need a "power of attorney" to do my mothers return.
I contract CRA this is false information. All that is required is government ID a consent form standard stuff. For a tax return.
**All that is required is photo ID and a consent form from my mother NOT a power of attorney
These people are incompetent, want to be lawyer and do not know Canadian law.
Thank god I did not do business with H&R Block, RUN AWAY

HR BLOCK WILL ROB YOU!
DO NOT BE FOOLED!
HR block advertised and I was led to believe that if I had less than three W2 forms, my fee would be $85.
I presented one W2 form with less than three months of work BUT HR block charged me $175.
I feel so taken advantage of that I cried afterwards

First a hard pull that stays 2 years regardless if you did it the last year. Second I don't believe they ever give over a couple hundred because I have good credit. Third even though they hold the first payment you have to get on the website and transfer it. This isn't a easy task actually! Don't do it!

In 2019 I had my tax done in Boynton beach office. I paid, but declined the " peace of mind" guarantee. I did not have the extra money. Two years later I got a letter from the IRS that my tax was not prepared accurately and I now owe $8,000.00. I got in touch with them and got the run around. They asked for copy of the letter over and over, which I gave. They promised to pay the interest only but never did. I am stuck paying for their error with not even a refund of the money I paid. I wish there was the option to give zero star.

I've used the Deluxe version of TaxCut for years with no issues. This year I needed to purchase the Premium and Business version to do Estate taxes. The user interface is horrible as it has minimal interviews and basically just points you to open complicated forms to fill in (especially the State) with no help. Obviously, this is for tax professionals who know what goes in the forms, but that was not advertised when I purchased it.

After I finished the federal and state, I tried to print the returns only to receive a message stating "cannot access closed file". The only option it gave was to close program. Once I closed the program and restarted I attempted to open the return that I had worked on for 4 hours. I got an error stating "object reference not set to an instance of an object".

I called the support line and after being transferred to 3 different people, the support reps only solution was to reinstall the software which resulted in the same error. Then she asked ME what we should do. It is obvious to me this is some sort of database corruption error that she had no idea how to deal with. After answering the same questions over and over such as "what operating system are you running", "what anti virus software are you running, "what is the error again" it was clear she wasn't going to be able to solve the issue. Her recommendation was to start over with a new form or ask for a refund.

Year End Income Tax
April 5, 2023

I never shared nor received the final page requesting my personal banking account and routing numbers as I was to owe the IRS so I called HR Block only to be place on hold for hour as the female on the other end said she didn't know and was seeking help. After hanging up and redialing I spoke to a male who said the previous person left no notes although I did have her name. He couldn't help me and said his boss wouldn't give me a credit back as I could still go directly to the IRS and pay which I did. Woke up two days later to two withdrawals from two of my sperate accounts neither of which I ever had the opportunity to share with HR Bock? One of these accounts I did share with the government as I stated above and was advised by HR Block to go to directly. I will never use them again as their software and customer service are horrible.

They only support chromium because... honestly they probably don't give a crap about cyber security or any of that stuff. They figure... "most people use chrome or edge. Fxck everyone else, yeah?" And when you try to do anything about the bugs that you get using FF? They try to make you pay them $30 to even speak to someone. You can tell the chat AI the code is broke in literally every way you can imagine and it will be like:
"Are you upgrading to a live service model for 30 dollars?"
"No. Your code is broke."
"Are you upgrading to a live service model for 30 dollars?"
"The page is frozen and I can't finish my return."
"Are you upgrading to a live service model for 30 dollars?"

The sheer amount of popups trying to get at your money is... absolutely unhealthy. It's like they want to catch the elderly that can't see very well and might click the wrong thing. It reeeeeks of scam. Just overall a bad experience. I don't remember their free service every being quite this bad. But hoo boy. They got bad fast.

I had to install a chromium browser just to do my taxes. They literally listed FF as one of their supported browsers but that's far from the truth. Ridiculous.

Disappointed
March 27, 2023

We've been using our local HR Block office for years. Due to our checking account being recently hacked, our payment to them was suspended because we had to put a freeze on that account. I immediately called the office we used and explained the situation, leaving a credit card number for them to charge the amount we owed. Was told they had to wait to charge the amount until they received an official notification from my bank that the payment had been denied. In the meantime, and this is only two weeks later mind you, I received a letter from a collection agency in the mail for the amount we owed, complete with late fees and everything! They had immediately turned the matter over to collections. Never mind the entire situation was not my fault, I had put a remedy in place to fix the situation (the credit card),and we are long-standing H&R Block clients with an over 10 year history with this office. When I called the local office to speak to our tax preparer, she was polite but I could tell she didn't really care and wasn't interested. She wasn't sympathetic at all to what I was going through and I could tell she just wanted to get me off the phone.

My husband and I filed our taxes this year through H&R Block online, again, as we have for years. We thought it was strange that we owed for federal and didn't get much back for state. Federal debt + state refund still had us owing $24.

We got a second opinion from another service: freetaxusa.com. We found it through our state's tax website.

$1773 refund.

All of the same info was entered in the same way on the same lines. It was effectively the same tax return but prepared by a different system. That is almost an $1800 difference. Never mind the fact that H&R Block wanted a heft fee to e-file them. It cost me a total of $15 to e-file with the other service, AND we have $1773 coming back now.

What kills me is they've probably been doing this to us for years. I wish I knew how to have past returns checked by another company to see if we got lowballed on those too, if that's even possible.

I have been using H&R Block Tax Software for years and thought I was satisfied that it was filling out the forms correctly, but this year I caught an error that has cost me tens of thousands of dollars over the last several years. H&R Block Deluxe Software was treating business profits as Net Investment Income Tax, even though it is nonpassive income. As a result it was incorrectly adding 3.8% tax on top of the taxes that I should pay. I was able to override the software by filling out form 8960 myself this year, but I have lost faith that this software is filling out the forms correctly. I was able to amend the last 3 years of tax returns but the IRS does not process amended returns that are more than 3 years old. I would have saved more money (and a lot of time) by going to an accountant and letting him/her fill out the forms for me. I tried contacting H&R Block technical support to tell them about the issue but it was impossible to reach a human.
