I knew that I was late filing my taxes. So, when I went on their website and entered a bit of information, they told me that they would not be able to file before the deadline and that they would request an extension. They told me that they would contact me as soon as the extension was approved. I waited 5 days without any response. I then looked for an actual CPA to file my taxes. He also told me that I would need an extension. He filed it for me and I received the approval within a couple of hours. Needless to say: HRblovk never filed one. In my opinion, HRblovk wanted me to upload all my documents before doing anything because many customers would not want to go through the hassle of uploading all documents again with someone else when they realize that HRblock is dragging their feet. I will never consider them again.
I contacted H&R Block back in March to file my taxes. I lived and worked abroad for half of the year so I knew I was going to have to pay more than the standard rate to have them done and specifically asked for a senior tax analyst who knew what they were doing (I ended up paying $320). The lady who prepared my taxes repeatedly missed phone appointments but every time I complained I was offered another appointment and eventually I just wanted to get them filed without having to start all over again. There were technical glitches and then my taxes were rejected (I didn't receive a notification from their portal, but thankfully checked and saw the red x and rejection message before the deadline). The tax analyst resubmitted them and said she'd carefully monitor the situation and would ensure they went through. The tick mark on their portal displayed as green and it said it was submitted, but when I expanded the text box, the rejection message was still there. I was informed the message had just not refreshed but all was well. In May, I realized I'd never received my refund so I queried again with H&R Block only to find that my taxes had never been submitted. I tried to file a complaint and was told that it would be escalated and was given another appointment with someone else as my tax analyst had left the company. The phone call appointment was again missed by this new person, but I eventually got a hold of him and he resubmitted them - but again this failed. I raised another complaint, and was given another appointment with someone else - again no phone call and she later resubmitted and this also failed and I was told there was another "technical glitch". I raised another complaint with the headquarters number and was told that not only had none of my complaints been escalated but that they had me down as "DIY". I certainly haven't paid $320 to prep the taxes myself! So I raised another complaint and the lady assured me it had been escalated and I would hear from a supervisor within three days. Three days passed, no phone call. I phoned back and was informed they had tried to phone me once and left a voicemail message (I never received a voicemail) and gave up after one attempt and closed the complaint case. I've raised another complaint and asked for a refund as well as some help with my tax situation and absolutely nothing! I can't believe that this company can continue to conduct business with clients in this manner. Not filing taxes can have a financial impact on people's lives, and not escalating complaints properly or even dealing with complaints is unbelievably unprofessional. I've tried escalating complaints with the Better Business Bureau, but they aren't even accredited and reading their responses to other BBB complaints furthers my belief that they don't take any complaints seriously. I will be filing a complaint about their conduct with the IRS directly as a result.
Had a horrible experience with this office. The tax prepaprer made numerous errors on my return, one of which would have cost me thousands of dollars if I hadn't caught it. She also took deductions on my return without consulting me.
The office also billed me for services I didn't need and now, months later, still hasn't issued a refund.
You will do better going elsewhere.
I have had the worst experience with H&R Block, and the madness is still going on, they have not solved anything with me. My state taxes were not able to be filed electronically which is fine, but the issue is with H&R Block is that their customer service reps lack knowledge and are rude! Ive been going in circles for 2 months trying to get answer and guidance, after all I paid for both state and federal. Finally I have a case number due to my not having access to print my state taxes, and these reps are way worst than the others, a lady insisted upon talking over me, we got nothing solved and she hung up on me. I am extremely upset and I will never ever use H&R Block again and I will never ever refer anyone to receive their services.
I had an appointment with Greg at 5 pm to get some advice about capital gains tax. I showed up 10 minutes early and sat down at the waiting area. A red headed lady yelled across the waiting area "can I have your file?" I walked over to her desk and asked "which file would you like?" as I had a large case with all sorts of files and documents. She was not able to tell me which file she wanted. 5 pm came and the red headed lady now went to Greg's booth where she loudly talked and laughed for about 15 minutes, then she left the building. Her desk was attended to by another lady. At 5:20 pm I walked up to the new lady and she yelled "Greg you have a customer". Greg walked out of his booth and had no intention of helping me out, he made me feel very unwelcomed. I sat down anyways and started to ask some questions and he said that my capital gains tax should be paid next year when I file the return. You have to pay this tax in the quarter you received it, not next year. After about 10 minutes I realized he is not going to help me out and got up asking him "how much I owe you?" he said "you don't owe anything". I insisted on paying, he said not to worry about it, that they care more about good opinion. Well, my opinion is, Garbage. This is H&R Block at 4953 Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach, FL
I won't file again with HR block,they charge to much, rental rebate was really short,so next year I'm going somewhere else
I cannot say enough good things about the customer service from Marwa at the Black Rock Turnpike H&R office in Fairfield CT. She was very knowledgeable and patient. She helped explain the process and helped maximize my return. I look forward to working with her again next year!

I prepared tax return by april 7 and it was submitted to tax pro Ann WILLIAMSON. She did nothing...we are May 5. Customer support wait time was over an hour the days before the filing deadline...i still have a hard time getting a refund or the tax pro review done..
I would like to acknowledge the excellence performance of 2 employees namely Audrey and Valerie for helping and giving knowledgeable ideas as a client to get some important documents related to government issues…thank you for staff that you had always reminding the clients to come I touch if there's a problem matter occurred.

The HRB in Derry NH is the worst. They made errors on my Tax Return with the State of Mass.and The IRs. They told me,its printed on their big green envelope they give you with your tax return "HRB will pay interest & penalties"if your audited. They ignored the copies of the Mass. DOR and IRS audit I sent them and no call back for months and finally they called me and said "They rejected my claim" and told me basically to get LOST! Hire someone else they are not a professional company and DO NOT stand behind their work, they are crooked BUMS and that's the nicest words I can use without swearing.

Forces you to use upgraded product which is overkill for the tax functions you are performing. Doesn't always remember or autofill previous years information, which is half the reason I use the platform.
Upgrades me to a "Pro" which slows process downa nd has someone review my taxes for an additional $90 because I had one short term sale of a stock. This is a very simple transaction which shouldn't require a tax professional to file my taxes.
They are robbers! They robbed my credit card without actually telling me clearlyhow they will charge me! When the agent doesnt have answers to my questions the agent stays quiet for a while and me yelling hello hello.i know you listening... and purposefully delaying answer by staying quiet... for 4 minutes.says thank you for calling customer service and puts phone down...what kind of $#*!ing customer service is this!? H and r block what the $#*! is this?
Did my taxes online which I just received them and they weren't the amount I was supposed to get, for the past week Ive been on the phone with them because now all of a sudden they are having "technical difficulties" after they told me they made a mistake, had me under a refund advance when i never got one, which they were able to see but now i just keep getting the runaround from everyone and they are refusing to give me my money back after several agents admitted to their mistake! They were only supposed to take $74 for the deluxe fee and the refund transfer fee, but instead they took $1400!
Arnold only wanted to file a simple return and did not care how much I had to pay because of his incompetence. I called him and he stated he would not change my return even though he knew I had other deductions. When asked why? The only answer I got to any questions was I DON'T KNOW. He finally said he had no time to help me and hung up the phone on me. This is the worst case of incompetence. Will never use this rude person or The blockheads at H&R Block ever
This is my second year coming to H & R block and my last! I have a small 2 employee business making less than $70,000 a year. These scammers literally harass you into paying the $500 to file taxes. Are you serious? 28th Street location Grand rapids

Completed my taxes, band Fed went through with no issues. Got to state (NY) and kept throwing errors that were in the Fed return? NY requires e-file, but would not allow me to e-file with errors in Fed... Talk about a Catch 22! Hoirrible.
H&R Block's tax service is long and convoluted for no apparent reason. If you have any issues e-filing your taxes and need to start over, it is virtually impossible. I definitely will not be using their service again. Turbo Tax is a faster, more efficient, and more reliable route to e-file your taxes.
Answer: Used to be legit. Does not feel like they value customers anymore.
