Kaiser Permanente Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company is significantly marred by consistent customer dissatisfaction regarding healthcare services. Many reviews highlight severe delays in accessing care, inadequate communication, and a perceived lack of genuine concern from healthcare providers, leading to feelings of neglect among patients. While some customers have had positive experiences with specific doctors and care teams, these instances are overshadowed by widespread complaints about systemic issues, including bureaucratic inefficiencies and poor management of patient needs. The general sentiment indicates a pressing need for improvement in service quality and patient-centered care practices.

I used to love Kaiser so much. I'd hear other people complain and think oh they're just unlucky. Well I have finally seen the light to their blatant incompetence. The only positive thing about Kaiser is their use of technology but unfortunately even that has aided in their failures. They seem to be so obsessed with their app and speedy check-in services that they have lost sight of what they're supposed to be doing which is CARING FOR PEOPLE. I have been practically begging to be approved for a leave of absence due to my work and personal stress and they're making me jump through so many hoops. I keep being referred to psychiatry which is ridiculous since trying to get an appointment for therapy/counseling takes MONTHS! My doctor made sure to stress the fact that even psychiatry most likely will not approve a leave of absence because I need to learn how to manage my stress which I agree with to a certain extent but also I need time to deal with my personal issues and focus on my personal needs but I'm unable to when I have to be in an office for 9 hours a day plus the commute. I need to stay home with my kids while we grieve the loss of my mother and no one will help me. The doctor I saw today made it her objective to tell me how important it is for me to work. She must've said the word "work" 23 times during her 2 min rant. I understand the importance of work I mean I NEED my job but you can give me 4 weeks to get my mind right? It's ridiculous. It's no wonder this country has an epidemic of gun violence.so many people at their wits end, frustrated and unable to get the help they need. Next year I'm leaving Kaiser for good.

My doctor ordered MRI to be taken within 24-48 hours, but the earliest appt was over 1 month. I had to call 1-800 number and after several calls, several representatives, and several hours, I did manage to get an appt that was two weeks earlier (still too late according to doctor's orders) at a KP facility 2 hours away. I feel to get the care you need you have to be persistent and complain loudly. Unfortunately, if you don't speak English or have time or have skills in managing people, you will be stuck with what they give you. And what they give you often does not meet the standard of care that they themselves establish.

My Mom died and several months later after receiving no snail mail, email or phone calls I received a $1000 invoice through a collection agency. I am living at her house and check the mail daily. They swear (lie) saying that they sent multiple letters in the mail. There's no way that many pieces of mail could get lost. My mom was loyal to Kaiser her entire life, even after her husband/my father died there from several medical mistakes. I supported my mom with Kaiser, driving her there multiple times when she had breast cancer at age 84. I'm so disappointed that Kaiser never even tried to reach out by phone or email after all this. As someone with credit scores in the 800+ range and who has never paid a bill late, I'm shocked that this happened. Just as with my father, Kaiser takes no accountability. A simple apology would have made all the difference this time around. I'm just happy they didn't pull something like this when Mom was alive. I was considering trying Kaiser, but no way now. I recommend Sutter as an alternative. I hope this helps someone out there. Peace and love either way. Miss you Mom...

20 yrs as Kaiser Pt due to its affordability. The care is lousy. The providers clock in and out. They don't try to figure anything out. If you have symptoms but nothing shows up in bloodwork or is clear on paper they give up. They have huge bias against anyone with mental health issues. They don't believe pain levels in these people are real. They don't assist with disability paper work. They violate HIPPA and under document symptoms. If you can afford to go elsewhere please do.

I was on Kaiser for YEARS but mainly because it was the only viable option I had as a young teacher. I put up with REALLY bad doctors and horrible conditions because it was my cheapest option when I was young. I was young and healthy and I didn't really access health care in those days so I put up with the BS from Kaiser which was long waiting periods to access appointments and long times to hear back with lab results, etc... But more recently, they have made access to healthcare so hard. Driving 15 miles or more just to get vaccines or NO vaccines because they ran out. Driving miles to get care from specialists. They even reassigned my 91 year old mom to a dental clinic over 30 minutes away from her home. I am SO over Kaiser. Once I qualified for Medicare, I left them immediately. The plan I now have FOR FREE would have cost 170 dollars for WAY less care and benefits. Come on Kaiser, you can do better.

Due to lawsuits by blacks against KP they've gone woke. Their IT team is mostly black and the website crashes constantly. No way to commo with one's doctors.

Southern California receptionist are just plain mean. As if they have a power trip. People already do not like going to the hospital and the make it even more uncomfortable and uneasy to just be there. And for making an appointment on KP.org its a 50-50% chance that its actually scheduled. I made an appt. To the KP in Baldwin Park, CA and showed up only to be told that an appt was never made. I had to wait about 2 hours to be seen and even then they said its not a guarantee. Um, I work too and I took off time relying on the websites appt confirmation only to be told this. KP is my only medical choice from my job, sad.

Medline crap a joke
March 11, 2023

Kaiser decided seniors needed the crap Medline at home offers.Kaiser decided what otc products seniors use.Kaiser pretends the absurd prices for medline at home are real.$10 for 16 ounces of hydrogen peroxide?Kaiser must want more waste.Every order is shipped.Every item had it's own plastic bag.Kaiser decided all seniors want an extra soft toothbrush.I do not ever take cold medicines, use adult diapers or drink liquid meal replacements. The only way to make Kaiser change this crappy benefit is for everyone who hates it to write to Kaiser. You can write though the website, not the app.The ingredients and upc codes are not listed in description. Neither is it clearly listed where the product is made.Someone is making a lot of money on this.I wonder who. Also the free Dental benifit can only be used through Delta Dental. My dentist does not take Delta and I am not willing to change. Please look up reviews of Delta Dental by consumers and Dentists.

I've been with Kaiser for almost three decades, everytime I've had a medical issue (3 times), Kaiser has referred or redirected me to a local hospital emergency room, as Kaiser's emergency was understaffed. All appointments I've tried to make typically take months, and when seen, I'm booked out weeks for treatment and told to go to ER if it gets worse. Twice I have gone almost septic or went septic, one was gall bladder ( Kaiser delayed surgery since it was around Christmas) the other diagnosed TMJ but was actually a tooth abscess. I'm hoping I can get out of Kaiser next enrollment, it's really mismanaged and over subscribed.

Kaiser Farm
February 27, 2023

I've been with Kaiser since 1990 when they actually had pride in their Healthcare industry. Now all you get is cheap/weak medications. If you are sensitive to fillers in the medication they say they'll fill with the ones I tolerate and then I end up with the cheap garbage! This has been going on for YEARS! I will be leaving today. I've been cussed out by an irate, screaming pharmacist because I showed up exactly when the tech told me to be there but this pharmacy was the only one that was closing early during Covi-Con19! I'm not making this up! The same pharmacy decided that they were refusing to order my medication and I would have to drive my gas hog and extra 18 to 36 miles because they think they can treat people like garbage because they're low income! Come on people! Grow up and take some lessons in professionalism! Every one of you are sadly lacking in integrity and character. If you call, be prepared to go on a phone tag journey to NOWHERE!
I'm a victim of discrimination in more than one category!
If you want to be treated like your wasting their time and you should be kissing their backside just because they answered the phone. Well, look no further. You found the most PATHETIC group of pansies that hate their jobs at Kaiser and they have no problem taking their crappy attitude out on you at all times by saying they are helping but nothing has changed in YEARS & they don't even care.
I actually can't wait to get out of that junk fast food type of health care, care? Lol, they only care about quitting time.
There are so many incidents that I had to keep a diary! It does no good to complain about them getting nothing done but wasting my time and money. Speaking of money. I requested name brand medication and that loser actually said "oh you can't afford name brand " EXCUSE ME? WOW, just wth is wrong with these pharmacy techs? I guess they're sampling the stock. Not funny either! Pathetic losers to treat anyone that way.
I might be disabled but I'm not stupid!
I will miss my primary care physician, I really hope she finds a better network to work with. I'm sure the employed are paid the least out of any health care providers. The suits that are running Kaiser have run it into the ghetto of health insurance companies.
You've been warned!

Practice What You Preach
February 27, 2023

I get emails regularly about how to eat right, however the hospital feeds people all the things they should not eat. They get lots of chemicals and fake food. They should practice in the hospital what they send out in emails.

Blatant malpractice
February 21, 2023

Doctors are useless. They'll just say you're imagining things, making up your systems, that all you need to do is talk to a therapist, or give you a prescription that makes you sick and then tell you they can't help you. Google can interpret your bloodwork results better. Apparently no one there can interpret MRI or Xray scans. The doctors are completely incompetent. Member Services is useless. The pharmacy is efficient, but what else would you expect from a pill-popping culture. This place is basically one step above a walk-in clinic.

Kaiser deserves a Me Too movement.
Kaiser Permanente routinely compels women to expose their genitalia to non essential medical assistants. The policy exists as an internal memo that has never been provided to patients, permitting doctors and medical assistants to create rules or policy guidelines at will.

Sexual assault is defined as an unwanted sexual contact. By definition, hundreds of women experience sexual assault and are denied their patient and Civil Rights by being told that the chaperone must be present to view their genitals against their will.

The truth is every patient has a right to reject treatment that they deem incongruent with their faith, conscience or wil.

In my experience, the doctor lied and asserted that the policy was an actual legal code. The doctor allowed the assistant to peer into my vagina whike I openly protested.

When you escalate a complaint to management, you're told that the chaperone is not a voyeur and they should be given grace in the execution of their duties.

Kaiser expects women to allow spectators, who serve no medical purpose, to be in the room inorder to indemnify themselves against sexual assault allegations.

Be forewarned. You have a right to opt out, but the doctor will attempt to dissuade you, then alllow the chaperone to peer endlessly into your agape vagina.

Kaiser deserves a Me Too movement. They are responsible for denying women bodily autonomy on an alarming scale.

I am done!
February 8, 2023

I was a member of Kaiser Permanente for 50 years and it has changed for the worse! I got out and I am glad I did! The quality of care has become inferior and even my own doctor told me he can not do a proper job due to the workload. I had a horribly botched surgery at Kaiser and they are worthless when something goes wrong.

Lead times have have to unacceptable lengths. I have been with KPWA for over 10 years. Use.d to get appointments in 1 to 2 weeks. Now 7 weeks for primary care, 4 months for dermatology. Just diagnosed with severe carpet tunnel. Just to get a phone visit with surgeon is 8 weeks.

The Colonial Forge Kaiser Medical Center in Virginia is GOD AWFUL. It's clean and new, for sure, but don't let the shine of the new building get to you. The staff is awful. They are mean, in some cases abusive to the people entering the facility. They recently refused to provide care to my daughter, after we waited TWO months to get an eye appointment. And then in front of my 9 year old threatened to call the cops on me for defending her against their bullying. In short, I wouldn't send my worst enemy there. They in as much asked me to cause harm to my daughter without asking a single medically relevant question in advance of her visit. Truly the most demeaning and belittling experience of my life and I"m 51 years old. I'm over Kaiser and their mentality. Their building manager nurse has the personality of wet blanket and their optometry tech does not belong anywhere in the medical profession. I was actually embarrassed for her! I've filed a medical ethics complaint against them for many reasons and I suggest if you've been bullied by them, you do the same. (I have video of the experience, but because I am filing a complaint and may take it legally I don't want to post here)

P.S. the KID sitting next to me actually thanked me for having the courage to stand up to them because he didn't and felt helpless. He said he had complete respect for me, and I told him if he needed me too I would stand up for him to. It was SURREAL. DO NOT CHOOSE KAISER, go without instead you'll be treated better than if you pay.

I recently joined Kaiser Permanente, so my reviews may change as time goes on, but I have to say I had a wonderful experience with the phone line. While trying to register my computer crashed and I got essentially locked out of my account because I didn't make a password. The website was really bad about managing this, and after not being successful with any website password resets, I finally called. An employee named Eric Tavares was so helpful and understanding of my situation. He quickly turned a stressful situation into a positive one. Thank you so much!
