I would give 0 stars if i could. They scam people by charging them a "return fee" of £35 but not publishing this on their website. Why would i return an item that cost £45 if i knew i had to pay a 70% return fee? It makes no sense! I may as well have sold the item on vinted. I would have been a loyal customer, (I have bought two bags both over £150 and one pair of earrings from them) but this experience has left me feeling cheated and furious.
In an age where most commerce is now online, they have unfriendly and un-progressive return and refund policies which I would go so far as to call a scam. If they are going to charge customers £35 for returns they need to put it in somewhere in big block letters, so they know what they are getting into, and not sending people an obscure link to a webpage AFTER they have already robbed you of your money.
I sent a strongly worded e-mail and they explained that " Partial order returns, or returns requested after 14 days of receipt, are charged a return fee of 35 USD. This amount is deducted from your refund once it is processed. If the entire order is returned within 14 days of receipt, as part of the Distance Selling Regulations, you aren't charged a return fee." What distance selling regulations? I shop from loads of american companies who dont rob you like this. And why only partial returrns, which mine was? They have now refunded me the full amount, but i am still never buying from them again. Really questionable and unethical business practices. Would report them somewhere if I knew where to go.
I was notified earlier today from the fraud department that this site allowed my stolen credit card to be used on their site. BEWARE of transactions through this site
Just to reiterate the other reviews here, they have horrible shop policies. You have 30 days for returns, even if you ship it 10 days before the due date, they don't receive it. Then you get a gift card, JCrew does the same, over them. Also, I've gotten three pairs of pants and the fits are awful.
Shopee has just recently adopted new system of frequently cancel items when sellers unable to ship products or manage their stocks in time for delivery. This is not the right process of ecommerce. The company try to hit it big during particular day of campaign or promotion. Getting consumers to buy but in the end, they either face losing their coins, waiting long for delivery with no updates or worst cancellations without any informed notice. This is not how ecommerce is managed. The company need to stringent check if their sellers have available stocks during consumers purchase on destinated dates of promotion. These items ordered are in need by buyers most of time. As a consistent user of madevell
I will now opt for other ecommerce platform.
I just recently started ordering with Madewell, and gave unfortunately had issues with every single order. The first order arrived much later than expected, and two of the items were waitlisted.
The second order I received was not my order. I received women's jeans instead of the men's tee I had ordered. I called and got yelled at by the customer service associate, had to speak to a supervisor, and was told they were already aware that I had not received the correct order, and the new order would be sent to me overnight. But they had not updated me until I called.
The third order, a waitlisted item was suddenly cancelled because they claimed the charge was not authorized. I had to call to get the item re-authorized, to be told that the item was shipping (that's why the Apple Pay was being authorized), but by the end of the call I was again informed the item was waitlisted until July 18th (two weeks from now).
It has been very confusing and very dissatisfying knowing that my orders will almost never be correct with their online services.
Totally ripped me off. I used a gift card in combination with a credit card. I returned a few items and was refunded the gift card FIRST. Literally gave me a $100 e-gift card and $5 back on my credit card. I reached out to customer service and talked to upper management and they just said sorry that's our policy. Genuinely feel like I was stolen from.
I ordered a bikini from Madewell and was sent half of it in a timely fashion. It has been a month and I am still waiting on the swimsuit top. Despite multiple attempts to contact Madewell, they have no interest in ensuring that I will be a returning customer and continue repeating that the timeframe listed on the website when you buy something is not guaranteed.
Tried to order online, but the discount code would not work nor would free shipping with a purchase well over $150. The customer service agent was rude and unhelpful. I did not place an order. Would rather go elsewhere.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! Just ordered a pair of On Cloud shoes and they sent a used/return pair that don't have both sets of laces that the On Clouds come with. I would recommend buying from another company.
I do a lot of online shopping. I can honestly say this company has the worst customer service. I was sent the wrong item. They want me to ship it back to them and then reorder my item. So they made the mistake but they want me to fix it. Not shopping with them again.
I order 2 night suits on 19th Nov and still not delivered. It's been almost 2 months. I didn't even get a refund. I drop an email also at customer support no reply from them. Madewell is cheating people by taking money. Don't be fool and don't buy stuffs from here.
Don't use this website. Fake website. Not delivering any order. No refund... no customer care simply earning with website. Government should ban this type of website
Within 8 weeks, three of the four tee-shirts that I ordered had small holes in the front. I submitted a review that was approved by Madewell, but not published anywhere that I could find. I question the legitimacy of the glowing reviews on the website. If you are looking for a disposable shirt, you have found it because Madewell does not allow returns for shirts that have been worn and washed. DO NOT BUY FROM MADEWELL.
I really like the style and quality of Madewell clothing, however my most recent purchase was sold out after I purchased it. I found out two days after my online purchase. This wouldn't be such a big deal but this is the FOURTH time in a row this has happened (all different items) and they send me the same verbatim, generic, scripted response every time and do nothing to make it right. I do not have this issue with any other company. This is a terrible way to run a business. I will not be wasting any more time with Madewell in the future.
I place an order today. It never said that one of the items was out of stock, I received an email stating that one of the items was out of stock after order was placed. I called to cancel the order, the customer service dept. were unable to cancel it because they were not the wholesaler of the product even though they sell it on their site and provide their number on the invoice. Also the address for the shipping and billing ended up wrong so i dont know if it will ever be shipped to me. Don't buy from them because you wont know if you can return your item.
Bought two pairs of pants to come in the mail. They got lost in the mail and they the resumes to give me a refund unless they received the package back. How am I suppose to return something I never received? The guy was super arrogant and refused to listen to me. Never again am I buying from them because of this experience.
Sadly I will not be spending my money at Madewell ever again. THey don't care about customer satisfaction. I tried to return a pair of jeans unworn, missing tags a week and a half after buying. They refused to accept them and wouldn't even give me a store credit. I won't be shopping at Madewell or Jcrew.
I'm embarrassed to admit how much I've spent at Madewell over the years, and to have Icon status with them. Early this morning, I placed an Applepay order with them but mistakenly used the wrong credit card. Customer service wasn't going to be open for another few hours.
But when I called, I found out it was already too late since I was using overnight shipping as an Icon (I know, waaahhh). I kindly explained my situation to the associate, but she was adamant that it couldn't be cancelled. She also mentioned that I could not return one of the items since it was final sale, even though I had made an honest mistake. She was rude and sounded like she didn't want to help me, so I asked for a supervisor.
I must've been on hold for over 15 minutes for a supervisor. I spoke with Rachel, who confirmed that they couldn't cancel the order even though it had only been two hours. She offered to place a Return to Sender request on the package. I'm not sure if Rachel's request worked, because the package just got shipped via UPS.
This experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't want to shop with Madewell anymore. In fact, I'm just going to return the rest of my recent orders because I am done with them. For a company with such great clothes and accessories, they have some awful policies that can really screw customers over.
They just processed my refund and are refunding me not even half of the original price paid (including the shipping). I ordered shorts in size 26 and could literally fold them around me in HALF! And Madewell has the gall to charge me £30 for returning the item to their facilities in Southampton from London (after having paid £15 for "international" shipping...). SERIOUSLY? Will be taking this up with my bank, because this screams illegal to me. They are outright stealing from customers! I highly advise anyone considering ordering from them against doing so. The authorities should take a thorough look at these companies' (J. Crew and Madewell) business practices. Wish I could report them to the SEC or something.
I ordered men's jeans in the fall of 2020. They were worn a handful of times before they suddenly split about 6" on the back pocket area. When I contacted Madewell, they told me I was outside the return window of 30 days so I was out of luck. They questioned if my boyfriend was doing construction work in the jeans (he works as a media director at a church - mostly a computer job & also didn't wear jeans too much during his work from home time during the pandemic). After sending a couple of emails with my dissatisfaction with their product & wondering why a company with the name "made well" had a faulty product, they had me send the jeans back. Despite being out of their strict 30 day return window, they sent me a store credit in the amount I paid for the jeans. I'm glad they stood by their product! I will continue shopping with them!
Answer: I usually wear an XS but at madewell I wear an XXS. It runs bigger I think
