However, there are significant concerns regarding the effectiveness of job placements, as several customers report difficulties in securing paid work despite numerous applications. Overall, while the platform offers potential for networking and job discovery, the lack of support and inconsistent job outcomes detract from the user experience.

This is the second time I have engaged the promise of Mandy.com and again the results are disappointing. Ten years ago I created a professional profile to assist my 30 year career in the film industry as a union member of the Art Directors guild and Local 44. After receiving multiple job alerts each week for art department positions as a "free member", I chose to pay for an account only to discover the job posting vanished. Of the entire year as a paid member, I received less than 5 alerts that fit my profile as a production designer or art director, where as a free member I would see at least 2 or three each week. Based on a suggestion from a colleague and thinking Mandy.com had changed their policies, I created an account once again only to discover the very same practice of a "Bait and Switch". As a "free member" you are restricted from applying to any position or inquiring even for at least (1) one position. Fearing the worst and asking others in the industry, again the very same situation occurs that once you pay the fee, the promise of work vanishes. Mandy.com may work for some other professions, however for the film professional on a personal level, a professional has a 1,000% greater chance of obtaining work by going to local mixers and community events than wasting money on a service that has zero results. For the money, the service is just a waste of time, a professional has a far greater chance of projects posting on LinkedIn than posting on Mandy.com
Actors access, Casting frontier, Casting network are all better. If voiceovers is what you want. Voices.com Voices123 you have more auditions and stuff that meets your profile. Mandy clearly doesn't have anyone working for them or trying. I would not get many auditions or close to what my profile said pay attention Mandy don't waste your time. They don't know how to compete in this business.
I recently had the unfortunate experience of using Mandy.com, and I must say that I am thoroughly disappointed with the platform. I encountered several significant issues that left me frustrated and skeptical about the legitimacy of the opportunities available. Here are the key problems I faced:
1- Lack of filtering options for unpaid jobs:
One of the most glaring issues with Mandy.com is the absence of a filtering system to differentiate between paid and unpaid jobs. This omission is incredibly frustrating for professionals seeking paid work and wasting time scrolling through countless listings only to find out they are unpaid. It's a waste of both time and effort, which is unacceptable for a platform that claims to be dedicated to connecting professionals with paid opportunities.
2- Uncertainty regarding application visibility:
Another major concern I encountered on Mandy.com was the complete lack of transparency regarding the visibility of my job applications. After submitting numerous applications, there is no way to track or know if anyone has even viewed them. This lack of feedback leaves users in a constant state of doubt and questioning the authenticity of the platform. It's essential to have a system in place that provides clear information on the status of applications to maintain trust and confidence in the platform.
3- Questionable legitimacy of job postings:
The absence of any filtering mechanisms and the lack of transparency also raises doubts about the legitimacy of the job postings on Mandy.com. Without any assurance that the opportunities are real and not scams or fake listings, it becomes challenging to invest time and effort into pursuing potential gigs. This lack of credibility severely undermines the value and purpose of the platform, making it difficult to trust the listings available.
4- Inadequate invoicing options:
As if the aforementioned issues weren't enough, Mandy.com also fails to provide a proper invoicing system for payments. Obtaining a clear and detailed invoice for the work performed is crucial for both professionals and clients. Unfortunately, Mandy.com lacks this basic functionality, making it cumbersome and frustrating to maintain accurate financial records. This oversight is unprofessional and creates unnecessary difficulties for users who require proper documentation for their payments.
In conclusion, my experience with Mandy.com has been extremely disappointing. The absence of filters for unpaid jobs, the lack of transparency regarding application visibility, the questionable legitimacy of postings, and the inadequate invoicing options have collectively contributed to a subpar user experience. I strongly advise professionals seeking paid work to explore alternative platforms that prioritize user convenience, transparency, and trust. Mandy.com has a long way to go before it can be considered a reliable and user-friendly platform for professionals in the industry.
I've used Mandy for quite some time, with a paid subscription and then again with a free trial. In neither of those times, for as long as I've held an account with Mandy did I hear back from ANY job offers I submitted as a composer and is the reason why I feel Mandy is a scam and should be avoided. I only gave one star because I had to put something at least.
I see alot of positive reviews. But i see little about actually scoring jobs and getting paid. I can do auditions all day but If i don't get a paying job whats the point.? I tried Backstage too for awhile and did not get one response or job. Other sites provide me with constant income. Please Advise
Thousands of available, diverse legit jobs. It's free to see the postings. The only thing you have to pay for is to audition.
Mandy is an amazing platform to use if you are an actor or a voice artist as there are many opportunities, for all levels, to work on various project. I would higly recommend it if you are also looking to start acting.
Mandy network is a good website to promote your profile. Employers have the ability to view your profile to see if you are eligible or are an ideal candidate. There's a good range of jobs available.
Lots of opportunities to choose from!
The website is user friendly and you can find a broad range of opportunities across theatre, screen and everything in between. You also get regular email reminders which is very helpful.
I love the variety of roles available in many different screen genres.
Roles are constantly streaming through my inbox, so there are no shortages of things that I can apply for.
I am constantly applying for things. The latest one being a feature film that sounds exciting.
It is worth joining Mandy, as their membership fees are not too expensive either.
This website is definitely worth it, is higher quality than a lot of other casting websites and has easy and accessible jobs listed
I have used this site for decades and it has helped me land hundred of positions across the continental US! I would recommend this site to anyone who is having a difficult time making it in the field.
The website is great if you have different skills and willing to participate in film crews in different positions. It's constantly being updated and, though I haven't booked a job through the website yet, every opportunity seems legit and trustworthy. Very recommended for all freelancers working in filmmaking. Worth a shot.
Have only been using recently, but have been impressed with the number of available jobs and the many companies that use them for hiring. Seems like a great network with constant updates on new job opportunities!
The original sites for video production jobs. Lots of available jobs and it's great getting emails in real time as jobs are posted so that I can respond quickly.
Hi Nino, we're so pleased to hear you feel this way! Don't forget we can be reached at emails@mandy.com if we can help with anything.
Absolutely shocking service. There is NO way to get hold of anyone there. I have made contact with them in literally every conceivable way. Various email addressed. Filled in their online form. Facebook. Twitter. Instagram. I have a paid account I'm unable to log into. Its been nearly a week and N0 ONE has been in contact. Their only phone number goes to a voicemail telling me to email them. What fresh hell of customer service is this. I would not recommend paying money for this shocking service. They do not care about their customers.
I cannot for the life of me, understand why this field of employment is the only one where you pay money to apply for jobs. With StarNow being a waste of time, Spotlight costs an arm and a leg. It would seem Mandy and Backstage is the better option for professionals who make £50 per show, after 4 years in the industry. And each time I look on Mandy for job opportunities, which I cannot apply for unless I pay a subscription, they say no fee. So, it seems one must pay to apply for jobs that have no pay. You've got to spend money to make money they say, well with my £80,000 student debt, personal liability insurance, headshots, and showreel, not to mention home recording equipment, it seems the spending never stops. I cannot say any more about Mandy as I am only writing this review to get a 7-day free trial which I'm sure will be a waste of time and no paid job will come from.
One of the original gig posting sites for media production. Lots of available jobs and it's great getting emails in real time as jobs are posted so that I can respond quickly. I recommend the shotgun approach - just apply for several even if it's not exactly what you want. Not all submissions get a response but a few that I've had have lead to solid long term business relationships.
Sometimes a useful site, but do not expect well paid jobs. I have not found myself able to cover the annual membership from jobs on here. I am currently trying to cancel my membership but without a contact number for Mandy and a very general email address, it is extremely hard!
Excellent forum to upload your reels and put yourself out there to connect with VO clients and who knows what jobs will lead to! Mandy has always been a reliable source and for getting the first few and ongoing credits on your CV.
Answer: Hi Alicia, That's Great! If you are based in the UK we have a Mandy Kids UK site available for anyone under the age of 18. We offer a 30 day free trial for this site so you can sign up for free and try it out! If you need any help signing up, get in touch with us at emails@mandy.com
Answer: Hi Chloe, Apologies for the delay in reply. You can indeed! Your membership will simply revert to a Standard membership which does not block employers from contacting you, nor does it affect existing applications. Please contact us at emails@mandy.com if we can support you with anything else. Kind Regards, Roz - Mandy Customer Service Lead
Answer: I paid the subscription fee for a year, mainly so I can get speaking parts on any kind of production. I don't even care if they're mostly student productions, as I get film footage from them, which is very usable. However, if you're thinking of paying the subscription fee to get paid work, I would advise against it. You will not get much paid work through Mandy. If you want paid work, you're better off getting an office job that will pay far more than the NMW that's offered by most productions. I can't wait to get my necessary named speaking roles so I can join Spotlight!
Answer: Hi Paula, Thank you for taking the time to contact us. The Mandy Network is a platform where you can connect to other professionals in the industry to advance your career. As we are not a direct casting director or agency, we do not select who is successful for any role posted with us. We do indeed have a large number of users in both the US and the UK, but we do have our international region for members from all over the world! I hope this helps. Please do reach out to us at emails@mandy.com if we can support you with anything else.
Answer: Hi Julia, Thanks for getting in touch. There are 2 sorts of Job-related emails we will send you. Our Daily/Weekly Opportunities round ups are not tailored to your profile, however, you can turn these off or change their frequency via your Profile settings. Your Job Alert emails, on the other hand, are tailored to your profile and are sent out as soon as the job is posted. If you are looking to better tailor your Job Alerts, please go to your 'About me/Skills' section and update the 'Interested in' and 'Experienced in' section so that we have the information necessary to send you the best jobs for you. If we can help further, please reach out to us via emails@mandy.com.
Answer: Hello Gary, thank you for your question. It is free to post a job with us, though we have premium options available for recruiters wishing to give their job post a little boost. If you would like to find out more please contact emails@mandy.com
Answer: In other words no. It is NOT free for employers? They charge both employers and crew but guarantee nothing to the person's looking for work.
Answer: Hi Anna, thanks for your question, we'll be happy to help. Please refer to the status indicator when looking at Jobs > Applications, as this will give further information as to whether an application has been viewed or shortlisted. If you see the status is "Viewed", this means the employer has reviewed your application. If you have any further questions please get in touch at emails@mandy.com.
Answer: Hello Maria, Thank you for your question. We do indeed post a number of roles in your field, the best profile type to create is a Theatre Professionals profile! If you need help getting set up please contact us at emails@mandy.com
