Site has so many problems. Vague governing guidelines, spam in the postings, sometimes posts are repeated over and over, hidden posts come back, list of issues is endless.
While this site can be useful for sharing neighborhood related information, learn what is going on, crime warnings and more, it seriously lacks professional management and world class coding. It works hard to hook you into wasting your time on the site. Governed by purposely vague guidelines a ND rep can interpret them any way they want when you get reported.
Issue here is all it takes is one snowflake who doesn't like your post or reply, takes it personal, to run crying to ND reps by falsely reporting you for upsetting them.
ND bureaucrats will then look at the report and if they agree with Karen or Daren, will ban you for a while. You are never told exactly what you posted that upset the poor snowflake. Just a vague "You violated ND guidelines, were not nice."
ND bureaucrats reply this way as they do not know exactly what the rules are. Vague to give them latitude to kick you off for a while.
A world class website which ND will never be, would send you an email with the supposedly offending post and the exact guideline wording you were claimed to violate. Never happens on ND as the bureaucrats haven't got a clue how to be professional.
Then to be more laughable, when your time in purgatory is over, you have to click on a button saying you will not do it again. Do what? Your post could have been made days, weeks or months before the snowflake found it. As you have no idea what post they are referencing, you have to lie you will not do it again.
ND doesn't want you totally banned as the more people on their site the more they can charge for advertising. What a joke.
NextDoor fosters a hostile environment between neighbors. ND allows Local Leads and Reviewers to abuse their authority by squelching the views of those they oppose. Posts and comments adhering to ND guidelines that conflict with the local Lead's and Reviewer's personal ideology are consistently censored, flagged and "Hidden". Local Leads and Reviewers allow derogatory comments to remain if those comments serve the Lead's and Reviewer's purposes.
The app could have been used to unite a community. Sadly, it has been used as tool to push the agenda of a few.
When asked by business owners if ND is a good place to advertise I will suggest they spend their advertising dollars with a different organization.
Our local Nextdoor app has been overrun by right wing propaganda and conspiracy theory hounds, and they slam the site with ugly animal exploiting photos and flat earth arguments about everything going on with energy and the climate. If you question their logic, ask for evidence of their position, or request that they stick to the facts, you are vilified and summarily drummed off the site. Worst place in the world to go for anything.
Moderators are bullies and the site encourages it. Earlier today I was accused of reporting a comment made by a mod. I hadn't reported or would I have. When I told her that she said she is a mod and I had don't it. She then called me a liar and a snitch! Seriously wtf? Reported that comment and it was deemed ok. So basically they can say whatever they want and you cannot. It's disturbing to have people like that "running" a neighborhood site. Do better.
I wonder how many Karen's on a daily sit at their computers dissecting our names and if they don't deem it to be correct we get reported and our accounts get disabled haha! What a fu#king joke. And only a Liberal site would allow them to commit such an atrocity I think with their 2.4 rating they actually feel important enough to oust users that the KAREN'S have reported
It's run by a bunch of arbitrary idiots. They will remove people for comments that are completely benign. But Nextdoor people are so ignorant that they don't even understand thenWnflsh language being used. It's almost like they're just a robot and if your comment has a word n their verboten list they will eject you. I guess it's a power trip by idiots. They can't do anything well. They make hardly any money from Nextdoor. Let's hope it goes out of business like all inferior businesses.should do.
Next Door should be shut down as a violation of Free Speech even if you post a legitimate research article. If Next Door doesn't agree with the article, they will censor it, remove information and eventually if you continue remove you from their idiotic site. There is not much on the site unless you consider lost pets, but idiotic posts are allowed with no problem. They violate the first amendment blatantly and should be shut down. Avoid this site and go elsewhere. You won't be missing a thing. Hope they go out of business immediately.
I've been a moderator on nextdoor.com for a number of years and am now going to delete my account. The reason being, they don't back up their mods nor do they pay attention to what's going on i.e. Mods don't follow guidelines and rule on reported content from their own feelings/opinions. This is leading to censorship, bullying by mods themselves and one sided points of view. Add to that, most of their moderator "training" is full of woke, marxist ideology rather than common sense solutions on how to handle reported content to bring the community together.
I was recently suspended for three days for stating an opinion about another members comments and for agreeing with another member who pointed out the hypocrisy of some members comments. My comment to him was simply "Hypocrisy abounds". This was one example they used to justify a suspension. Another member berated and belittled a fellow moderator who asked a simple and valid question. This member not only called for the moderator to be fired but then created a new post complaining specifically about said moderator. Don't know if that member faced review or received a suspension because I can't get into my account to see. I did read that he wished bad things to happen to the other moderator and myself.
I've included screenshots of a conversation with support that clearly shows they are not prepared to give clear and concise answers/reasons to questions about being suspended. Instead, they give vague answers while hiding behind their guidelines...which is NOT an acceptable way to respond. Further, in the email from support the person states that they previously warned me about the comments I made a day before I questioned the suspension. I did not receive any such notification/warning as the suspension occurred the same day the comments were posted. So either this person is confused or just outright lying.
Some members and myself were reported and suspended for no good reason by a biased moderator. I stood up for myself and the next day she defamed me and slandered me on a new post. I was bulied and harassed by her lynch mob. Cant report her. Next Door wont help me. I then open my laptop up this morning and there was that same post i complained about on my microsoft page with the Next Door ad. Im going to contact a lawyer! Disgusting. Next Door should be removed permanently!
Next door is ok for a lost pet. Of course if you love your pet why lose them so often? I have tried to assist new TN folks who have relocated her from various other states and have alway been kind. I could get a bit sarcastic if someone eas just being mean. But, OMG if it was it 2 self proclaimed democrats that stalked, bullied, and was so hateful. This behavior got me to stop that social media. When folks get by with this behavior it just divides us more and bring on discord. And these folks were from another local city.
I was a member of the review team and still got suspended for confronting someone politely about their racist comments. Way too many sensitive little snowflakes lurking about on this site. There are times it can be helpful but for the most part it's a lot of whiners and complainers with nothing worthwhile to contribute. The guidelines are also a joke as they try to control speech rather than allow for free and open debate. Restrictions on national topics are restricted to "groups" that members can start but the exposure is limited and a LOT of people complain if there are political topics even when the topic is local.
Another suggestion is if you need something done i.e. Yard work, house repairs etc. you'd be better off looking for a contractor yourself as too many recommendations are presented if you ask for any. Plus, you can't tell if the contractor will be as receptive as the person who recommended them said they are. Every experience is different.
Nextdoor? Don't waste your time.
No accountability. Roll the dice with nextdoor and you get a feel of what it's like living under a dictatorship.
A sinking ship. They lose money every year & they are unAmerican.
I had posted many useful reviews on the NextDoor site. I noted a private group on the site which I joined. The purpose of this particular group was that participants should have the right to speak freely. I posted a review on the socialist nature of the site and that many posts were removed simply because the moderators disagreed with the opinion. The next thing I knew was that the post was removed siting violation, the violation being that participants cannot mention posts being removed. The next thing I knew was that the account was totally and permanently disabled - no warning, no nothing. Never in my life have I ever been removed from any app. One of the NextDoor leads or moderators had infiltrated that group. This is very scary. Straight out of Communist China, with the secret Chinese police. Nothing in my post was objectionable or contained any type of hate speech or bad language. There is no freedom of speech on this site. If they disagree with your viewpoint, you will be immediately silenced..
You would think that San Francisco would have the best Nextdoor website since the company is headquartered here. Given what is moderated, I wonder who is paying Nextdoor ensuring narrow moderation views. This is a scummy website. Read the reviews from all over the country. I smell a rotten fish. It is not even about the company holding a liberal bias because what is moderated here is outside national political polarization.
Terrible company. Should be ran outta town. Committing fraud on a daily basis. How is this even allowed.
In 2009, I received an invite to be in on the ground floor of creating Nextdoor, from the City of Sacramento. I was given a brief summary of the purpose of Nextdoor as an opportunity to promote local businesses and to grow customers. I declined because there was no apparent concern for consumers or REAL neighborhood problems. Since i joined it 10 years ago, it has consistently been the WORST social media site I have ever seen. It is false news after false news. The most CROOKED unethical business men and women are aggressively promoted. There is a businessman in Sacramento accused of sexual harassment by many women who is UNTOUCHABLE on Nextdoor. They promote cruel breeders with out truthful disclosures while claiming that they do not. They censor HEAVILY anyone who presents facts and proof of unethical practices. Their guidelines are a JOKE: the most abusive, greedy, vicious people are allowed to be LEADS and the DAILY newsfeed is dominated by bullies and scammers. Nextdoor desperately needs LAWSUITS. It is a bastion of bigotry and lies. There is a definite political slant towards corruption. NEXTDOOR MUST BE EXPOSED OR CLOSED.
Nextdoor is not a user friendly site, with limitations that appear to be by design after it became a public company.
The newsfeed is overloaded with alarmist posts and comments about crime, almost all of which include misinformation and slander--against those who disagree, public officials, government entities, teenagers--and dog whistles for race-, ethnic-, or location-base groups. There are bullies and fear mongers, many of whom are trolling for likes and comments that reinforce their claims.
The Home page is missing important categories, such as Help and Community Guidelines. Reporting offensive posts is limited by the short list of categories/reasons to choose from and no place for more detailed input from the reporting member, which could offer insights for analysis.
It's become an unfriendly place to be and is losing engagement with many members.
I have NEVER experienced ANYTHING like the discriminatory HATRED and JUDGMENT I have been assaulted with by the moderators of NEXTDOOR... The cruelty and abuse, the way that they spit in the face of HUMAN RIGHTS... Ughhh
What a bunch of SOUR BORED PIGS...
Class Action Suit on its way...
Don't use Nextdoor. If you are self-promoting, people will look at your postings, but will not act. As for the people on Nextdoor, most are Karens who point the finger at anybody they consider "suspicious" in their neighborhoods. Using Nextdoor is not worth the hassle. Find someplace else, anyplace else, for your social media activity.
I was scammed and put up a warning about the scam so no one else got caught up in it. Nextdoor suspended my account because they said I might make the scammers uncomfortable and not feel welcome. Nextdoor would rather look after scammers then keep the public safe.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
