I am kind of sad that hotmail switched to outlook. I have been using this site since 1999.

Hotmail has been absolutely horrible with me. One day I decided to sign in with my normal password and email made at hotmail and could not sign. I tried again and again. Contacting technical help for this site is terribly complicated and I have received no word from them about the restoration of my original account and my ability to access it. Hotmail really has downgraded itself from being that trustworthy site we all had originally come to know!

It works
July 24, 2011

It works. Microsoft has really made it shinier than it used to be but it still feels about the same. I've also got a gmail account and I still use my hotmail account more often than it just because it feels closer to microsoft office. I enjoy gmail and I I'm glad I have an account their too but hotmail even though it is old still has a place with me. It has alot of new features in the last year that they have been implementing like the cloud service. If you are looking for a first or second e-mail service hotmail is not a bad choice.

Good luck trying to cancel your account. Hotmail deliberately creates a run-around where it's impossible to cancel if you've ever linked your Hotmail account or MSN ID to "any paid Microsoft service." They will fail, however, to TELL you what such service may be. It seems like their business model is this: make it impossible for free users to cancel their accounts so they can artificially inflate the number of users they have.

I found when mailing to multiple contacts, you had to do one of those code scramble games. After the third time, they wanted to text me a message. After putting in my cell phone number they wanted my cellphone provider, since I don't use a window based cellphone (TracPhone) it told me to leave immediately. It would no longer give me the option to play the de-scrambler game and wouldn't let me send. So I will no longer playing the Hotmail game and my search continues.

I have had Hotmail since 1999 before Microsoft owned it.

Although I have tried other e-mails, Hotmail is an excellent choice. It is reliable and the search function to find old emails works extremely well! Free yet works like a product you have to pay for. I'm happy!

I have had hotmail since 2001, and it has gone downhill since. I even paid to have more space back then. I didn't check it for about 8 months, and when I did, all of my old emails were gone. After 9 years, that was alot to lose. I now use gmail, and am very happy with it.

UPDATE: I was wrong skydrive gives 25GB not 20GB and Yes all free.

Amazing email site, no hackers or viruses like some people *cough*google yahoo*cough* have been saying. Gives you something called Skydrive and that has 25GB of online memory for you to store school assignments, work projects, pictures, videos, music etc... also you can use spaces (also uses Skydrive) to share info like in facebook. Bottom line amazing email, fast responsive and way better than gmail and ymail.

They also sell a premium service for hotmail but it is really not worth it unless you max out your skydrive and use it a lot
