The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

While I have wrote great reviews about eBay and Half.com, Paypal is a different story.
For those of you who don't know, PayPal and Half.com are all owned by eBay.
First, not only do you get charged fees for eBay, but you again get charged to use PayPal when you receive money. So essentially, when you sell an item, you have to pay two fees to the same company.
Second, I have had one instance where PayPal helped, yet another where they completely blew me off and ignored proof and documentation I had.
My suggestion is that if you are doing a transaction that involves alot of money and has the possibility of something going wrong, don't do it or don't use Paypal. Now I have had only one or two bad experiences in the many times that i've used it, it still can be a good service assuming you use it with people whom you trust.
Like everything else, just be careful, check, and double check!
I purchased a download from a vendor with a PayPal account only to find out it didn't work with Macs. The process to get my money back was frustrating and horribly user unfriendly. I will not be purchasing anything from someone with a PayPal account again.
I have never had any problems with Paypal. I use the site on a regular basis to pay for ebay transactions. I find it very useful for that application.
I don't use paypal in many other forms. I will say for payment to sellers for items and such it has become the Ebay norm. You almost always have to use paypal now. Which I don't mind it's easy to do and use.
Good site if you can find uses for it.
On the whole, I have had no problems with Paypal - I use it fairly regularly for buying and selling via eBay. The lower rating, however, relates to a transaction with Dealsniper.com, from whom I purchased a DS game. I was dubious, but when I saw the payment would be processed by Paypal, I felt a little better about the whole deal.
When the game arrived, it didn't work, and after much digging turned out to be a fake copy. When I put in a claim with Paypal, they said there was nothing they could do! So, why have such a system in place then?!
Pay pal is a scam it takes your money on the pretense that another website is requesting money then when you try to close your account to avoid any further problems it asks for your bank account information then if you give it paypal refuses to close your account.
I made a purchase thru paypal and had a problem with my order and the only contact person I had was the paypal person. When I got no where from that person I contacted Paypal and they told me they could do nothing. This Company should be shut down, PERIOD.
Paypal seems to be a law unto itself. What gives them the right to freeze funds paid by a buyer in the middle of a transaction hence making it impossible to complete the sale. When asked to refund the ebay fees nullified by their actions they say they are unable to do this even though they are both the same company. Consider the huge amount of funds recieved by this company with no service provided... consider the huge sums of money being made by this company for providing little more than a shopping site and a credit card service. Paypal definitely not preferred!
As a buyer, when somebody rips you off it's not very helpful. All they do is refer you to the disputes or claims but nobody is held accountable for money the seller just keeps!
I hate paypal i never use this site again i purchased a deedpoll from http://www.ukofficialdeedpoll.com/ they promissed money back guarantee if deedpoll is not accepted and no one accepted this deedpoll they send fake deedpoll when i opened a claim on paypal even they do'nt help me
I have been using paypal for the past 10 years or so. It is 100% safe and secure and customer service is great. The largest online banking system with millions of users, billions and transactions and because the few people on here who had a problem, (probably their own faults) Paypal is no good? LOL Paypal is great and the sheer fact that they are part of ebay and other multi-billion dollar companies prove that.
I do not trust this site to use for payments as your infomation is available to anyone. I have received countless fake requests for purchase of any item I am selling, however, when they want to pay for it on paypal all they want is your account number so they can break in.
If it wasn't because certain places only have this as their only option I would never use it. Once, the company I was paying didn't deliver on time and I called PayPal hoping they can do something to help, they told me there's nothing they can do. So the so call "assurance" you get of using PayPal really went out the door.
I also use it to receive money too when I sell some stuff on sites like eBay and I think they take too much. Especially since eBay and PayPal are merged now, so they take a bit from my selling price and then some more when I receive the money. >,<
I'm going to have to write my first "hate it" review. Unfortunately I can sympathize with one of the reviewers who had his/her account held for seemingly no reason. This past week the same thing happened to me as I tried to pay my student loan bill before the due date. Paypal apparently thought that the fact that my paying my student loan, which I do every single month, was unusual and put a lock on it, with one requirement being that I send them a utility bill with my address. For what, I have no idea. My living in Guatemala makes this impossible, and the fact that it has now taken me 4 days to try to resolve this is just ridiculous. I think this may be my last transaction with Paypal, if I can help it.
WOT A JOKE - DONT LET PAYPAL GET AWAY WITH THIS THEY ARE AS MUCH TO BLAME AS EJAFFA. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF U HAVE BEEN CONNED LIKE ME.
PAY PAL. Is to protect or to steal - All of us know who is Pay Pal, before i had supposed it is institution to protect both sellers and buyers! But I will leave you to decide where is the truth, does pay pal steal the seller, buyer or both? Or protect all?/, let's tos tart
Paypal has terrible customer service - use Google Checkout instead - I just accepted a payment on Paypal and for no reason other that the amount was larger than other transactions the amounted was placed on "hold" and my account was "restricted."
I had to spend 3 hours trying to get my account restored, which I am told will take 2-3 business days. In the meantime, the funds are unavailable to me. Had I known it was this much trouble, I would have just used Google Checkout or normal bank.
Also, I received a very rude call from a woman from Paypal who demanded I tell her what my transaction was for. When I asked her who she was and why she needed to know, she hung up on me and placed the hold on my account.
I would not use Paypal in the future. Stick with your bank or Google Checkout.
Note: Paypal also charges more per transaction - to receive $4000 Paypal charged $130. Not a good deal.
Not sure why anyone would use anything else besides paypal - These days I'm not sure why if you have a website you would even bother risking your money to an unknown CC processing company. I think people should just stick with paypal.com, google checkout, or quickbooks as those companies offer some of the best options available.
Answer: I would not recommend PayPal to anyone for anything they're a joke of a business
Answer: Paypal will NOT be on your side if the item is not as described. I bought an item that was totally wrong, advertised as "handmade, hand quilted, made of brushed Kona cotton", picture was beautiful with wonderful quilting and vibrant colors and I was buying from a company from Texas. I received an item from Texas, not handmade, not hand quilted, not vibrant colors, not brushed cotton and it was just a picture printed on cheap polyester/nylon fabric. Hideous. I paid $99.90. Company first offered to refund $30, nope, still way too expensive for a cheap quilt that I wouldn't even use for my pets. Then said if I return the "quilt" to China at my expense they would refund the money. Cost to return? $70. Paypal agreed with this company, denied my claim and I'm sitting here with something I would feel cheated if I paid $10. Paypal is not the company it once was. Use your credit card as that company will have your back. Looking to see what a better option is than Paypal. 20 year customer and I'm done. I do not think anyone actually reads our messages to Paypal.
Answer: They have become a money laundry scamming allowing company. Stay away at any cost.
Answer: USPS delievered it to the wrong address my pacakge was supposed to be delievered too 35710 Bay Morgan Ln, Fallbrook, CA 92028 when USPS delivered it to an address simillar to this one 12354 Alcatal Street (do not know the exact address since they did not email me, but you can call USPS and ask, and that is how I found out) Fallbrook, CA 92028, right city and zip code, far away address.
Answer: I'm thinking someone has to work there, if you send messages you will get a canned reply, I get the same response from 10 messages, basically "suck it up buttercup, you have just been played" but if you try to actually talk to a person good luck.
Answer: They dont. They wait for you to forget it. You get money back if you fill in a form after 180 days.
Answer: Do never send money to PayPal. That money is lost. This company has become a Giants money laundry company.
Answer: No there is not. PayPal protects scammers. Be sure to never use them.
Answer: It doesn't matter if you report them or not PayPal won't do nothing about it they continued to let the scammers operate on their site and do not protect consumers
Answer: SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THAT LOT, THEY CLAIM TO REFUND AMOUNTS PAID FOR ITEMS THAT DO NOT ARRIVE THATS "BS" I HAVE HAD 3 SUCH CLAIMS FROM 14 TRANSACTIONS AND HAVE NEVER GOT A REFUND DESPITE THEIR CLAIMS, THEY ARE CROOKS, FULL STOP, KEEP WELL CLEAR OF THEM.
