I fix broken websites for a living. So when I remove and clean a site of malware or phishing etc, Google Safe Browsing, Phish tank, SiteAdvisor, Sucuri Malware Labs, SpamHaus DBL, Bitdefender and Yandex (via Sophos) all have great tools to de-list a site in a timely manner.
Norton Safe Web on the other hand is a night mare to deal with. Often weeks and months go by to no avail and their de-listing seems to go to a black hole.
I wish I could give it 0 stars, but 1 star is the minimum.
Just downloaded it and then printed various documents. Printed on each page of the document was "Thank you for using Norton Safe Web! Share usage etc etc" The 3 line message was too high to show on the web page so didn't see it. After I noticed it I could not scroll higher to show the full message and delete. 60 pages wasted. My next step was to delete the extension.
I manage several websites. Today I was informed by a site visitor a page has the scary Norton warning. The page uses https and has a form using a secure connection. I never used this tool so would have never known Norton was scaring visitors away. Been in contact with Norton for over 1 hour now. Nothing resolved. How is this even Legal?
Norton has blacklisted my site, but after numerous chats and calls will not tell me what caused it to be flagged. Some vague identity threat was all they will say, but I have no visitor input or comment areas--strictly an informational, one-way site. To add insult to injury they want me to put a piece of their code on my site. A security company that wants you contaminate your site, really?
If you're having problems with Norton flagging your website as suspicious, it is because it uses HTTP not HTTPS security. You need to buy a security certificate from any seller and then have someone switch over your website.
It cost me $20 for the certificate and $85 for someone to do the work on Upwork. No more problems and no way to get around it. All browsers are looking for this added layer of protection now.
My website was suddenly flagged as suspicious. I spent two hours on chat trying to find out what the "annoyance", not threat, was that caused the flag. I was told their engineers would need 2-3 weeks to review it, given a case number with no place to check it, and cannot use my site properly.
Absolutely horrible service and unacceptable practices. These flags mean nothing!
My website is clean, yet Norton blacklisted it. Why? Is this just another way to generate revenue? I am not surprised by all the 1-star reviews. If you are blacklisting websites, give them valid reasons for your actions.
There it no direct answers to questions when dealing with their customer service department, just giving a case # and an email going back to their website. This is affecting my business and potentially turning customers away from my site because of how they conduct their business.
I was surfing the web " when I çame across a safe web add for 4.95 for two years of there product, with out checking them out I order the deal. They charge me $7.95. They also gave no receit. When I email them for a refund. They told me I would have to pay $ 119.00 to get a refund" then they charged me again two weeks later " beware of the scam. And if I could give them a zero I would.
I suddenly found my website listed on Google Chrome with a gray question mark alongside the name. It took some time to get my site ownership verified. I then asked for the site to be reviewed but after 4 months, no action was taken.
It took a second request to get my site reviewed. Apparently they have trouble handling the size of the business they have taken on.
This service Norton "Safe Web" is a joke. Use AVG anti virus much better and free.
Norton extorts websites to pay them and makes websites jump through hoops to become a "Safe" website. Un-install this garbage software from you computer ASAP.
Norton Safe Web is a new reputation service from Symantec. Their servers analyze Web sites to see how they will affect you and your computer. Also, using the Norton Toolbar installed on your PC, they let you know how safe a particular Web site might be before you view it. If you need to find out more about how a Web site might behave, they provide more detailed information on Norton Safe Web. I have used this service for many years, and it works.
They block your clean website-verified by other services-and then try to sell you THEIR services. A TOTAL SCAM.
An overall good idea but Norton needs to keep up with all the websites that are bad and block them better because I use the DNS service.
This is a good place to get reviews about other websites.
