As many others, I was charged without consent. I was charged after one year annual membership. I never asked for the next year membership but they charged my credit card without any notification. I asked for refund but they refused even though I didn't log in my account after they billed me.
So I raised a DISPUTE REQUEST to my issuing bank. The reason I provided: it is an UNAUTHORIZED PAYMENT and I NEVER USE THE MEMBERSHIP after they billed me. After one month, I get the refund through the bank. It's about the "chargeback mechanism" of credit card (Visa, MasterCard, UnionPay,). It's a transnational service (I am not American and still get back my money), ask your issuing bank for help. I think it also works in free trail condition. Don't let this company keep charging people without consent.
Hope this can help who lost money like me.
First of all, please scroll down and note that the positive reviews are all from the same date, at least on the first page (5/28). HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS and if anyone working for Skillshare is behind this, this is fraud.
I was a monthly pro member paying about $15/month. A week after paying for a month, I woke up to an email thanking me for paying $99 for an annual subscription! I demanded my money to be refunded as I absolutely DID NOT switch to annual. And even if I did, why would they charge the full $99 after taking $15 the previous week!?
They have fraudulent billing practices and this is clear from reading the countless negative reviews all over the internet. And I don't mean the people who were using a free trial and forgot to cancel and are angry. NO. I mean people who had premium monthly subscriptions and were switched to annual without their consent.
They did refund me but had the NERVE to say it looks like I switched over to annual. Seriously? In my sleep?! And NO my account was not hacked into.
Also, it seems recently they've been mass deleting courses off of their platform. It's like they don't want a good reputation. This all seems worthy of a class action lawsuit.
I've had several courses that are a series on Skillshare for YEARS. I've always been careful to follow Skillshare's guidelines, and while the money from the courses wasn't a lot, it was about $40-$80/month, which is something.
A few months ago, I got an email stating some of my courses had been "shut down" because they didn't follow guidelines. I reviewed their guidelines and couldn't figure out which of the guidelines my courses suddenly didn't meet. I wrote them, and they wouldn't give me an explanation of what the problem was.
I got another email today, stating they had shut down almost all my courses, despite rigorously trying to figure out how they may not meet policies. They won't take the time to give you an explanation, and there will sometimes be no logical reason for this, but after being on their site for years, this makes no sense. Your hard work to make courses or put them on Skillshare will be met with being treated like a piece of trash.
Skillshare used to be a good company, but now they've gone to the dogs, so don't waste your time with them! They are a fraud, and they will do anything that can to screw over students and teachers alone. Don't teach here!
So I signed up, One day i found that my account was deactivated, and because of that i couldn't reset my password or anything which is completely stupid. And on top of that my automatic payments to them are still active.
You'd better off finding courses on sites like Udemy
Scammed me out of £84 after taking my money they are not willing to refund and have even cancelled the membership I've paid for. No way other than email to contact them. Avoid at all cost, most of the content can be found on YouTube or Google anyway.
I was checking out a video when Skillshare popped up for subscription and insisted on credit card info prior to letting us watch anything. After leaving my info I entirely forgot about it and did not check my credit card statements, did not log in even once Nor used any of their content; didn't even complete the demo video I was watching, then BAM- they charged me PREMIUM Cos that's what I selected then. I contacted customer service and told them I never intended to sign up but they replied with a too late' can't be bothered attitude although all my records show I never used a single log in or even the slightest content, but they refused to budge! These guys have policies to make money unjustly, and couldn't care less. I'm still not using their content despite being billed for it and emailed them a few times to request for refund but just IGNORED and NEVER REPLIED after 3 emails. They're crooks, couldn't care less about their customer satisfaction and only want to hit their subscription numbers. I would rate Negative if I could!
Beware of Skillshare's billing policy. They do not warn you when they are going to charge for the annual billing. They claim they do, however in my case, nothing. There is no 'cancel service' option on their app, you have to go on their website and search for it. You only have a mere 7 days to reverse the billing. After that, even if only a day, TOUGH LUCK. Now I am stuck paying $99 for an annual premium for a service I have not used in months nor do I plan on using for the next 12 months. I do not recommend using any company with billing policies such as Skillshares.
I did not use skillshare for over a year and got billed for it even though I thought I already cancelled my subscription. I did not know about this until I checked my bank statement and saw the charge. I contacted them about this and they said they couldn't refund me because I contacted them too late. Terms and conditions said 7 days while I asked for it 9 days later. I did not receive any emails or was I contacted by them during this period with only the last emails being from July. Feels like I was scammed.
Charge me large amount of money without warning, stay away from that, I JUST NEED TO REFUND!
* I have to cancel my debit card because they are stealing my card details, I already notified the bank this company is not truthworthy
My son signed up for this with my account and suggested I use it, several months ago. I wasn't interested so he cancelled the account. We were not charged again until recently. He contacted them hoping it was just some kind of mistake. When he did, they refused to reimburse the $15 fees, stating something about "company policy". Really? It's company policy to defraud people? We are still trying to sort this out.
Being the organized person I am, I made sure to cancel my subscription before my free trial ended. However, I was shocked to discover that even upon canceling it early on, Skillshare STILL charged my credit card for the yearly membership. I would've understood if I had forgotten to cancel or something along those lines, but it absolutely shocks and disgusts me that they still charged my credit card after I canceled my account. I actually really loved the courses that Skillshare offers, but what they did was unacceptable and I do not think I can happily use their services any longer. I have already deactivated my account while waiting to sort out this mess, hopefully with a Skillshare representative.
The title says it all. I paid for three months, then I canceled, and three days later, they charge me. Also, you cannot remove your card information from the site.
I love skillshare! The best place to learn everything I'm interested in. Every free minute I have, I open my saved classes and start to learn. I feel that I'm getting a lot for my money.
Skillshare has taught me skills now that I would have to wait years and years to learn in in the field. Skillshare saved my life. Thank you Skillshare!
I have been using Skillshare for a little over a year and will continue to subscribe to it. I have recommended the site to several of my friends and family. The classes and teachers have been mostly excellent, but like everything in life, some classes and teachers are better than others--you have to explore
I always recommend Skillshare to everyone. It's an amazing platform to learn anything to do with creativity, self-employment and more. The way the site is set up and the great teachers make it so easy to learn and improve quickly.
Skillshare's delivery model often results in multiple instructors teaching similar skills. This means that I can choose a teaching style, or a skill level, or just a different thing to learn in the same category. There are many, many wonderful teachers and hundreds of interesting courses.
I love skillshare. Not only do they have a wide variety of classes to chose from, the classes are short... to the point and easy to consume. I have learnt a lot in the design field which has been great for my business and creative journey. Would highly recommend to people who want to learn new skills but like their learning in bite-sized pieces rather than long drawn out courses that cost a fortune.
