Teachers beware!
May 2, 2020

Teachers beware! Read about my experience before using this platform...
After gaining over 200 followers, creating 29 hours worth of content in 8 classes, bringing in at

Least 5-10 referred users, engaging the community, encouraging other users, speaking positively about

Skillshare to people in my learning network, creating projects for all my classes and other classes,

Being one of the very few people actually producing iPad based music production classes - one day,

Without warning they removed all of my classes. Some new 'Guidelines' had been adopted and my classes

Did not meet them.
Initially, it was hard to get specific reasons. Then they provided the reasons - all of which I cited

As incorrect and gave evidence why. They were simply untrue. But I continued to be reasonable and

Prove their arguments to be inapplicable, unfair, or plain wrong. I am happy to supply all my evidence to anyone who would like it. So beware of this platform - on the surface, it looks sweet and a lot of stuff in there is great. But it's not run by professionals.

Couldn't Get a refund
April 30, 2020

I'm from Brazil and I forgot to cancel the trial. As I made the monthly subscription, I am not ineligible to a refund. The price seems low, but the dollar is absurdly expensive at the moment, due the crises, and I just can't afford it right now. I was really considering signing up as soon as I could, but after this, I'm probably not going to. This is absurd and im totally disappointed.

The classes are great! Their customer service is a joke. I have sent three emails in the last week asking a simple question. Other then the initial response, I have received no further communication.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
April 21, 2020

I tried Skillshare two year ago in 2018. I was charged TWO YEARS LATER for a premium account that I had no knowledge of. It was a secret charge and I don't know how they did that. It's a scam.

They won't refund me the $99 because I didn't notice the charge nor could notify them within the seven days.

The last email I have from them is from 2018.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR TRIAL! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

After subscribing for the initial period, during which I HAVE NEVER, EVER used the skillshare service, I got charged with the annual subsciprion. I realized my mistake and contacted customer support to cancel and refund the money, which THEY IMMEDIATELY REFUSED as it was more than 7 days after the charge occured.

It was 10 days after the charge in fact. Customer service is extremely deflective and ignoring the issue - please if you are thinking about getting an online education that are many serious companies DO NOT TRY AND USE THIS SERVICE!

Membership is a SCAM!
March 25, 2020

I signed up to Skillshare to learn a topic from one of your teachers. Me being the organized person that I am I made a reminder on my phone to deactivate my account 2 weeks before they would charge me as I am not able to afford subscriptions as of yet. As soon as i was paid my freelance fee, they took R1816. 63 this is so unprofessional and not how business should be run. Membership feels like a scam. I expect that someone would take action during this time of trouble (COVID - 19) where money is not as accessible as it should be.

My son signed up for the free trial and forgot about it, he didn't really find the courses interesting. Two months later he was charged for the premium membership. Luckily we saw it before the seven days period and he contacted Skillshare and they sent an email promptly and refunded the full amount 2 days later..

Scam
March 15, 2020

I signed up for a trial and then canceled and removed my credit card. When I checked my credit card a few months later, I was charged for not reason for an entire year of Skillshare Premium. I asked for a refund and they said no, because of their 7d refund policy. It's all a big scam. Don't even try to create an account, you'll get charged for nothing and the quality is even below Youtube tutorials.

Got charged for subscription even though I deleted my account. There is no way to opt out in my account on Skillshare, so I deleted my account thinking that once the free trial was over I would not get charged. Well, that didn't happen. I was able to stop auto billing in Paypal, but I didn't see a way to do that within Skillshare and they are not going to refund me even though I have no account after deleting it. A very negative experience and I would never recommend anyone sign up.

I canceled my monthly subscription in November of 2019 and it was now suddenly reactivated in March of 2020. Fortunately, I used PayPal and was able to cancel the subscription before I was billed. I send them a GDPR request to erase all personal data to prevent that from happening again.

I got bank notification of payment to Skillshare and I didn't authorize this. I have no premium membership with them and clearly don't want it. They made me pay for trial clearly and also now I can't edit my payment details (to remove them) and there's no option to cancel subscription.

I canceled the free trial as soon as I subscribed to it, I was still charged the premium membership. No way to contact them, they ask to go through hoops to get a refund. They know it is scammy, they turn a profit because of it, I hope this will change.

I signed up for trial and used the site, did not find what I was looking for but forgot to cancel my account and got charged for it. I contacted them to refund me but they kept telling me "we sent you the reminder mail etc.". I told them that I did not get it and kindly asked for a refund. They offered me a new subscription with %40 discount. If you registered yourself with a credit card, I'd recommend to cancel that credit card and renew it since they got the number and they can charge it anytime they want.

The content was ok, but I found it difficult to do everything I needed to in the app as quite a few things (such as viewing/ managing subscription details and downloading some course materials) could only be done via the website on a laptop/ pc which was really frustrating since I mostly used my phone for Skillshare.

I tried to cancel my subscription before the end of the trial as I wasn't using it much but was told I would immediately lose access. I stupidly didn't cancel and thought I would give it another month to see if I started to use it and find the classes worthwhile.

Once the free trial had ended, I was sent emails that were sent to my junk folder and were lost with the other 50+ emails I received from Skillshare within only 8 weeks and unfortunately I didn't notice them.

I should have cancelled before the end of the trial, although having dealt with other companies in the past for friends and relatives, I have never had such lack of compromise and understanding when I emailed them regarding this.

When trying to cancel after waking up in a panic at 5am, they refused the refund as I was 5 hours outside of the 7 days refund policy. After asking if there was some sort of compromise we could reach they just kept stating the 7 day policy and reiterating their 'transparency'. I was hoping that maybe I could pay a one off fee for the 7 days I had gone into the premium subscription but they would not budge.

There is no telephone number and they are not willing to reach a compromise via email.

Hello,

Just a simple Google search (only search Skillshare scam) will show you hundreds of people complaining that even if you cancel during the trial period, Skillshare will charge you and will not provide any refund. They don't even allow you to remove information about your credit card which is bizarre. I had to contact them after I cancelled my trial and had them withdraw my credit card information and delete my account after about 20 emails were sent back and forth, and eventually they did it.

After 4 days I see $120 charge on my credit card even though I don't have any account with them anymore! And they don't respond to any of my emails plus they don't have any phone number in their contact. It's also bizarre (and definitely intentional) that they don't send you confirmations when you cancel your trial period or even register with them.

I signed up for one trial class which i didn't even complete and nothing since. Their email went to spam and so my account was charged for premium. After contacting them all I got was 'refer to our refund policy'. After reading through all the negative reviews on this site, seems like this company is living on scamming people out of their money one way or another. I would stay away at all cost!

Horrible Scammers!
December 17, 2019

I signed up to Skillshare for the free trial. All of the tutorials looked very bland and basic, the kind of thing you could find on youtube for free. I wasn't interested at all. I forgot to unsubscribe to the service and since then they've been charging me £84.00 a year. They did this twice until I noticed a few days ago. They only agreed to send me the last payment and not the first one. I want ALL of my money back. I never watched a single one of their videos! If I had automatically been assigned a monthly plan the impact would not have been so devastating and I would have been able to notice sooner but they took all of this money at once which really hurts me, I think they assign the annual plan for this reason. Skillshare, give me back my £168.00!
