Call, and they have no idea how to help, you just get passed from department to department. I just had a representative put me old hold and he came back and said "I can look into this now, sorry I just needed a few minutes!" Chat is even worse, bizarrely people just drop off the chats every few minutes and then a new person picks up.
I have a small business, it's convenient that I can use Square everywhere for years. I drove 8 hours to participate in a big and money making 10 days arts/crafts show (Sept 2023) that I have prepared for a year. I spent 4 hours setting up my booth. I was extremely tired, just before my sale days, I checked my email and, shockingly, got a Square email saying my PASSWORD EXPIRED on I day. In my 50 years professional life, I have ever had any companies expire my password, let alone no reason at all to suddenly expire my password at the last minute, not even give me at least one week notice, just chopped my business off cold. I always sign on to the Square, never logged off. I was out of town, no computer with me, and didn't remember my password. I couldn't sleep, and tried to figure out how to change my password. Found change Square password instructions on web, I carefully followed the instructions tried to change the password, however, I am in a new place, somehow the worst yet to come, I got completely BLOCKED OUT from Square, not allow me to change my password. I was stressed out for no reason at all. The Square put me through this nightmare.
Next day, I asked my business colleagues to help me out, but no one could, because I have been blocked out. Me and my co-workers worked together trying to call Square customer service for helping, only got repeating recording messages. I lost money, lost so much sleep and stressed out. Who's the idiot Square personnel decided to expire their customers password randomly to screw up their customers' business, I am extremely frustrated and angry as to why Square put me through this NIGHTMARE!
This company refused to release $30,000 in payments, they closed our account twice and I would never even recommend them to my worst enemy - they are unreliable, no customer service, wont even pick up your calls once they have deactivated you, and they deactivate you WHILE THEY HOLD YOUR FUNDS HOSTAGE - they sent us an email saying 90 days they MAY release them. I have told the client to start a return with her bank and they better refund her -- SQUARE IS A NIGHTMARE AND THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU
I received an email receipt for a purchase I never made! From four months ago! I looked on my bank account and I never made any such purchase! I've never heard of this company and have no idea if it's a scam or what?! If it is legit, I have to say that this is THE WORST way to handle your business transactions! Just give people a paper receipt! Instead you send a receipt 4 months after the purchase! Do you know how f'ing confusing that is! I cant remember what I bought four months ago so I have no idea if I'm being scammed or not? I feel like I am because I never made that purchase but they have my card information! This is alarming and concerning and I don't appreciate it! I have enough stress to deal with, now I have to spend the better part of my day investigating weather I'm at risk for fraud, who this company is, are you legit, why did you contact me, why do you have my card info, how do I get you to leave me alone? Do I need to cancel my bank card? Seriously, what kind of operation is this?
I had a Tenant signed a lease agreement for 12 months my tenant received reoccurring statements every month once rent is due. If square actually took the time to look she's been paying so all of a sudden it was a mistake. Well she paid her rent late and then disputed it saying that she has no regulation of the transaction with that being said she was able to get her rent money back through Square. ( they fell for the scam) and clearly this is something that the tenant do is dispute transactions after they received services so if you are a landlord, you may not want to use square they favored in the card holders favor me the landlord without rent, knowing that she has abandoned my property. I have damages and text messages as well as the lease that I was able to prove to square that she was a tenant, and they still agreed in her favor. I am not happy with please do not do business with them to save your sanity.
We have been in business for over 5 years, switched to Square credit card and the first transaction for $2,500 was placed in hold for 90 DAYS! Are you kidding me! No other bank will place a hold for the entire amount for no reason.

They took my money and never gave it to me. We opened an account and made two charges from our client. The funds were not available until we submitted a bunch of paperwork and answered a bunch of questions. We did that twice over the course of 8 days. Long story short, they took my clients money, $30,000, and then deactivated our account. Here is the kicker. They hold the money for 90 days and they won't give you access to it. I called and they would not let me speak to a supervisor. "Supervisors don't speak with deactived account holders". What a crock of $#*!! They are like a bowl of condoms in a lesbian bar, completely useless.

They want us to give them all our Informacion like bank account and routing number Foto ID and other personal Informacion and in one hour the send you email Saing the close your account while they're holding your money now they saying that its going for review and it will take 90 days

I can't believe that Square support is so terrible. My integration with Doordash has been down for 3 weeks now and I can't get a Square engineer to take a seriously look at it. They say they only communicate via email, but they only answer 1 email per day and it's always some nonsense to try and blame Doordash. Doordash is ready to talk to them, but they won't communicate with Dorodash at all. So frustrating.
Square tracks all your information when you use their services. I tried to contact them to have my information removed, but apparently the conversation was unproductive and terminated. From what I am reading this is a common tactic. They are selling and storing information and refuse all efforts to purge or delete any account information. In fact when they sent me the supposed link to remove my information, they actually wanted more information. Don't use them and I would not trust any business that uses SQUARE. The last business I went to apparently used square. I did. Not provide the business with any information including email and phone number. However to my surprise I received an email from SQUARE about my purchase. When I questioned SQUARE customer service, they stated that they do not keep information on the consumer. That is a load! How can a business that has none of my information, email or phone, send me a receipt to my email? They didn't SQUARE did! Then out right lied when questioned. I am in a different state traveling so it is not a local coincidence. The email os literally from SQUARE. SMH
I've never left an online review in my 25 years of life- but today I am going to every review website to try and warn people to not use square.
They will deactivate your account, suddenly, permanently, and without cause. They will also hold your money indefinitely, and generally make you hate your life - if not actually ruin your business.
They are a garbage company that have caused stress and harm to many people's businesses by doing very shady things, and getting away with it.
I do digital marketing services, I tried to accept one single payment, and square closed my account. In the 3 weeks since of dealing with them, I am honestly just defeated. I don't even want to explain my whole situation once again because there are tons of reviews and cases that show what kinds of things that square will do.
I just want to express my disgust, irritation, and everything in between with this bs company. All they have provided me are issues, stress, and more problems.

After been working with them for long time my account was deactivated due to violations of terms. My website is a global sales intermediator between providers and clients. All our monetary process it's performed solely in Miami, FL USA. Even been allowed to perform our business activities under the US Department of Commerce regulations the USA Merchants providers are not allowing businesses like mine to use their services and they don't even provide a reasonable reason of why. If they see the name of Cuba somewhere, that's enough reason to stop doing businesses without even knowing the government regulations or applying them. In around 1 year we never had a problem with charges back, with complaints to them from out clients, nothing. Everything was smooth during that time.
squareup.com are lying thieving scammers. They will hack your devices and website. They will milk you as much as they can, telling you to keep taking payments. Then not release your funds and steal as much of your info as possible, while you waste your time trying to figure out what is wrong and going on. Do not trust at all. They were screwing me around for over 20 days causing extreme stress, as I had to watch the business I was trying to start completely crash.

I know that's too much to ask. I can't tell how many times a simple phone call for support turned into a headache of repetitive times saying one's email name phone and so on. Not even getting to the problem or less likely getting an solution. Ridiculous Square. Stop using and outsourcing out of country to people who barley speak and understand the language let alone can here us talking. Last year I opened an account with Square, anticipating credit sales in the future, with current market situation. Last Monday I received my first payment, as 90 days had expired since opening account, I had to do the registering all over again. That done I received my first payment, and it was gone, square gobbled it up! Gone with the square! I cannot get MY money. After about 30 calls to square in not even 3 days, we know the following: Square has MY money, holding it, because I am being investigated, according to Square people for drugs trafficking, and fraudulent activities, and God knows what else. For 3 days now I am being told it will take up to 2 days. This is how Square is helping small business, working YOUR money. In fact they are strangling small business. What really happens is the following, they sit on YOUR money, and it is clear why! The longer they can hold it, the more interest they get on YOUR money. Imagine holding a couple of million dollars for a couple of days, the interest this generates for Square. And they, probably on a daily basis, sit and invent ways to increase their profits on OUR backs, on YOUR money. Inventing stories to tell you. My Client wants to reverse the charges, but then it is going to take longer to get MY money. Unbelievable. Please, don't make the mistake I made, as soon as I get my money, I'm gone from Square. The deserve a minus 10, they are the ones doing fraudulent activities with OUR money. BEWARE of SQUARE!
They are the worst credit card processing company on the planet. Square needs to be prosecuted and jailed for their actions.
On July 11th 2023 my small business took its first credit card sale and we decided to use Square as our processor.The nightmare began that day.Square held onto my funds with no reason and put my account under review with no explanation after being asked verbally and through emails...kept giving me the run around and telling me everyday 1 to 2 business days and after 2 weeks of them harassing me repeatedly for the same information over and over again and then making up new questions as they go along. They asked me 3 times to upload my drivers license and take a selfie and upload government paperwork showing I am a legitimate business even though they can confirm with the state my EIN number issued by the government, upload sale agreement and credit card authorization form, the customer even called them twice asking why they have not paid my co, we completed 90% of his job without being paid, linking my bank acct 3 times, uploading bank statements, answering 50 questions to include analyzing the customers mental health and the list goes on and on. This is the absolute worst company to trust your transactions with they will bankrupt your small business and put you in jeopardy. I am open to a class action law suit and make them accountable for their criminal fraudulent practices. If I could give them a zero I would they do not deserve a 1 star. Stay away from Square and business that uses them I will not support by using my credit card or debit card to pay any business using them to process credit card purchases.

I'm a small business owner just me myself and I have a mobile massage business. I don't take a lot of transactions but I take a few nice ones. I go to transfer my money out and square. Won't let me because I need to make a few more transactions if I don't transfer the money out and pay my bills. I'm not gonna have a company. Nor am I gonna have lights or water or anything else? When do you decide what I do with my money? That I worked for I paid your fees on the front end. And I pay him on the back end. Give me my d*** money.
