State Farm's reputation has significantly declined among customers, with numerous complaints highlighting issues such as delayed claims processing, lack of communication, and perceived bad faith in handling claims. Customers express frustration over rising premiums and inadequate support, often resorting to legal action to resolve disputes. While some long-term clients appreciate the ease of policy management and the app's functionality, the overwhelming sentiment suggests a growing dissatisfaction with the company's service and commitment to its policyholders. State Farm advertises it is for the little man, the blue-collar worker, the lower to middle class. NOT TRUE at all. The State Farm office that I initially took as my insurance after my husband passed away was so disappointing to me. The young fella that I spoke with did his best to take care of me and he was genuine. However, once they sent some inspector to my house (without my knowledge I must say) the underwriters decided that I immediately had to contract someone to put a New Roof on my house. I had thoroughly explained that I was semi- retired and living off of my husband's disability social security for the time being as we were together for 45 years and I am having a hard time dealing with my loss of my soul mate. I couldn't believe it. After I had paid my homeowners insurance up front for a year, they informed me if I didn't do this, I would be dropped by them. The young fella that helped me got another insurance to take me for a year but if I put a new roof on my house within this next year STATE FARM would graciouly take me back. I had life, home and auto thru them. I am cancelling All policies with them due to the way they think everyone is wealthy and at the drop of a hat we can produce the money for a new roof. I have not had one homeowner's insurance claim in all the years I have held insurance. My husband and I chose to always fix the problem ourselves because most insurance companies that we have had will fight you on every level for a helping hand. But in today's world you have to have something to help you. Just do not believe the ads because once you sink into the policies this company is only for the wealthy and NOT for lower to middle class. Shame.

My User ID is: Vaughansf19
My former agent is the most unprofessional agent I have ever dealt with. He mocked and laughed at me as though I should know the ins and outs of State Farm. I challenge him to deal with the work I do without stumbling a bit. He ridiculed me and, in fact, when I told him that he should not wonder why he's losing clients, his response was, "hahaha. I'm not concerned about that'". Shame on you State Farm. Shame on you for your unprofessional "customer service". The former agent, Jon Geddings was professional beyond measure. This new imposter has much to learn from his predecessor. I am so very upset to get laughed at by this guy. He needs to attend Charm School and learn some humility. I will NEVER do business with State Farm.

Thanks for nothing!
August 25, 2023

I have never seen an insurance company work so hard to avoid having to fully pay a valid claim until now. The representative spent an hour or more looking at every single shingle on my garage roof. These were 20 year 3-tab shingles and were only 8 years old and had obvious wind damage. Not only that, they took 2 weeks to come up with their low-ball estimate of $1167.00 to repair the roof and their BS explanation. After my $1000 deductible they are going to pay me $167.00. I spent $4567.00 to have the shingles replaced and I am getting $167 from State Farm. State Farm sucks!

Horrible experience
August 25, 2023

My agent acted the same exact way. No help, no responses to why my insurance has gone up $1000 since I started using them in October 2022. No accidents, no tickets, so how can they keep getting away with this? They are a ripoff!

State Farm Insurance...been a customer since 2011, 12 long years. You have been hiking my insurance consistently for the last 18 months. In all that time, I have NEVER had a claim against me, my property, or even a ticket from law enforcement.

When I called you on the phone to explain why you told me this: "It's because of inflation, and many claims that are expensive to repair and we are passing that on to all our customers in Texas!" Ginny Thompson - Boerne, Texas and Josh Pick, Bandera Texas both said the same thing.

So, basically, what you are saying is you took a bad insurance risk, insured someone who cost you money on claims and your answer is to penalize your pristine policy holders who have NEVER had a claim. Unacceptable.

You lost me as a customer. I found a company that is quality, well-known, and who covered my house with 3 times the coverage at 1/3 of the price of State Farm and insured my cars at 1/2 of your price with more coverage for them as well. Total savings per year: $1200.00.

I guess they recognize a quality customer and grabbed me. See State Farm! Keep passing those costs of bad customers to good ones and from what I hear you are losing Texas Customers in droves. Now you know why.

Denied a valid claim
August 12, 2023

Denied our claim, in spite of a plethora of evidence. We had a chimney fire; 3 adult household members saw the flames, plus 4 adult backyard neighbors. The damage to the chimney was extensive; a professional chimney company used a snake camera to documented the clearly visible damage. They went up on the roof; when they removed the chimney cap, the chimney crumbled to pieces. But State Farm's "inspector" used only a regular hand-held camera. He didn't have a ladder, so he didn't climb on the roof. Nor did he interview the neighbors. We had called the fire Dept to make sure there were no lingering embers; their report stated there was no heat detected - so we could rest easy. State Farm decided that meant "no fire took place" and denied our claim!

I have two homes in two states, both insured by State Farm. Three years ago I filed a claim for hail damage. The State Farm adjuster said the roof was in good shape but the only damage found was eight roof vents were dented and needed replacement. The claim was approved for repair/replacement of the eight roof vents but since the cost to do so was under our deductible it's our responsibility and the claim was closed. Now, three years later we get hit by a terrible storm with 2-3 inch hail stones. This time the State Farm adjuster says "there's no hail damage, just normal wear and tear." What a ridiculous comment. My neighbors to the right, left, behind me and across the street, all had claims approved from non-State Farm Insurance companies. In fact my vehicle was sitting in my driveway and sustained over $6,000.00 in hail damage, which was approved by my non State Farm Insurance Company. My community has roughly 75 homes in it and the majority of them were damaged by the storm. My roofing contractor reported State Farm adjusters are trained to do whatever they can to deny legitimate claims. Currently his company is working with eight clients whose claims were denied, all of them State Farm customers. I have had to hire a public adjuster to intervene on my behalf. I have been faithfully paying my insurance premiums for over 31 years, never been late, never missed a payment, and these are the only two claims I've filed. I am sure State Farm shareholders are very happy raking in cash and increasing their profits by denying the legitimate claims of their customers. A good neighbor, State Farm is NOT.

I switched to State Farm for motorcycle insurance on May 16,2023. I have outstanding credit, and an outstanding driving record. I was asked several questions when I called state farm, my personal information, driving record, asked if I had any other vehicles with state farm, I said no that my vehicles were insured through USAA, and I was not going to change that because I have been with them since 1988. State Farm said that would not be a problem, after getting a quote for the motorcycle, I decided to go with them and paid with a debit card in full for the entire year, and then I asked them if they insured travel trailers and was told yes, and after going through the questions again I decide to go with state farm so that I just have one agent for those two items. I was told by the person I talked to that all is good, I received the my policy by email, and all was good, and was told that after checking my credit and driving record that everything was excellent. I chose State Farm because Progressive really raised there rates, and USAA does not insure travel trailers or motorcycles. Two and a half moths later, I get a letter from State Farm that they are canceling my insurance with them because I don't have an automobile insured through them. I was never told this anytime I talked to State Farm, and I had been in there office three times since I received my policy. Once was they sent my paper policy to my place that I store my travel trailer, anther time to cancel my moms policy because she had passed, not one time of them canceling my policy, the last time is when I receive this letter the end of July saying there canceling my policy, and mind you I paid for a year in full for both policy's. I got a call from someone name Robert, and he said that he could rewrite me another policy, that one was going to be $125.00 more for a higher deductible, and all through this my agent has not called once, Alex Ferry. Robert is Alex's assistant.

A demented State Farm insured woman hit my car and seemed very confused. She even apologized and mentioned she was panicking and distracted. I caught it all on video and when I filed under her claim State Farm they refused to hold her liable. They determined it to be neutral. I was hit 7/22/2023 and I've had two reps try to over talk me and one hung up on me. State Farm is most definitely training their employees to be disrespectful. They're incompetent on top of it all. Plot twist: I also have State Farm Auto and Home, they are losing a customer…that's all I can say. I've had State Farm for over 15 years and the few times I've needed them they've been nothing short of a headache! I'm tired of giving chances.

Absolute disaster
July 31, 2023

I was hit by a state farm policy holder. I had 2 customer service calls and it was the worst experience I have ever had with any "representative".
When I asked if I could speak to someone else. She stated "you sure can, you can call back" and hung up the phone. This is after I sent an email requesting assistance, enterprise and my agent called several times trying to speak with someone... 5 days prior!
I feel bad for those people that need to deal with them on a regular.

State Farm is a HORRIBLE ins company. Please, if you are reading this trying to decide on an insurance agency, look elsewhere. I cannot even put into words how State Farm is not on your side when it comes to claims and still charges an outrageous amount for insurance each month.

So a month ago my son was driving home in the dark and ran over someone's muffler that was laying in the middle of the road and punctured a hose. We towed it to a garage filed a claim and Statefarm had it towed to one of their facilities to have it looked at or so we thought.
The tow truck driver they hired caused significant damage ripping the bumper off and so they wanted to total the car when they caused most of the damage.
Well then they said we could have it looked at by anyone we wanted and get an estimate from them so they towed it and this time the tow truck punctured his door.
Now we find out my son only caused 1,100 worth of damage and the 2 different tow trucks caused between 7 -8 thousand dollars worth of damage. They're getting a third estimate and won't give us a rental. We've gotten told sorry this shouldn't of happened but that doesn't help anyone.

This is in regards to home owners insurance. We also have them as car insurance and since we've never had an issue with our cars, all's well. However when we filed our first claim for our house, (never filed before) due to water overflow in bathrooms, we were assigned three different adjusters. The first said they'd pay for coverage and then demoed our bathrooms. So we have torn-up bathrooms (they connected back to back so water effected both) and we have two children (ages 3+1) and we get assigned a new adjuster who says now they're not going to pay for the rebuild process which we had scheduled for Monday. We booked an Airbnb (first adjuster said State Farm would cover this) but now they won't, and it's nonfundable. Our rebuild is delayed, we have this Airbnb we no longer need and have to pay for on our own. Then we get assigned yet another adjuster who's supposed to come and inspect our bathrooms. But this adjust is outright ignoring us, never answering our calls, and we have these unusable bathrooms with our two children. It's a mess. They say they don't want to pay for rebuild because now it looks like there was a slow leak. But there seriously was no sign of this and we had no idea. How does this count as negligence? We would have had it fixed if we'd known. We have plumbers before and they never mentioned a slow leak. I'm confused why at first they'd cover for rebuild, and then won't. We had a sudden spill so I guess that's a separate issue. But they demoed our bathrooms and now are delaying any rebuild. I'm ready to call for contractors, but I'm angry because what's the point of insurance if we just have to do everything ourself and pay for it, after they at first said differently. It's been a month and we've been dealing with this with still no resolve. They left California. They'll leave other states, I'm sure. They are not helpful. This is bad insurance. Do not get them no matter where you live. They treat you as if you don't matter, that you're not human.
