State Farm's reputation has significantly declined among customers, with numerous complaints highlighting issues such as delayed claims processing, lack of communication, and perceived bad faith in handling claims. Customers express frustration over rising premiums and inadequate support, often resorting to legal action to resolve disputes. While some long-term clients appreciate the ease of policy management and the app's functionality, the overwhelming sentiment suggests a growing dissatisfaction with the company's service and commitment to its policyholders. As a result, many customers are actively seeking alternatives, indicating a critical need for State Farm to address these concerns.

I've been with State Farm auto for about 30 years and their pricing is great on premiums. I recently had a claim from a tree branch hitting my car and my agent was great but the claims department is horrible. I got one call from them and I asked if they could call back in 5 minutes. That was the only call I received. I called them every 24 hours for a week straight and was on hold for at least 1.5 hours during the 5-7 calls I made. I was promised a call back from a manager and never got one. The claim was finally settled and it says closed and paid on the website but I still have not received payment, after another week. I'm afraid to call them again for fear of the awful on hold music!
I'm a good driver, and therefore never file any accident claim. I had liability insurance contract with State Farm for around 2 years. Well, I actually accidentally found that they raised my insurance without any notice or explanation. That's not the way how a good insurance company treats its valuable customers.
Usually Chris Bruce is polite and respectful when I speak with him but that Michelle/Morgan or whatever name customer service rep is very rude and unprofessional. Not only was she using a rude tone with me like but she kept cutting me off and eventually hung up in my face! I have received poor customer service before but this tops it all, I've never felt so disrespected as an adult and even a human being when you're frustrated and confused and someone starts talking to you like you're nothing because after the holiday weekend (less than 10 days) you forgot to take a course. The link got lost in 20,000 emails, that does not mean I deserved to be ridiculed and cut off and a phone hung up in my face like I don't matter. When I respectfully asked her to stop being so rude and asked for Bruce her solution was to hang up in my face yet here I have been bragging on how great State Farm was. That lady has no respect.
I don't think your advertising staff realizes the ad which features two people and the guy who says he will Never get married, never have children, never live in the suburbs, never own a minivan - and for all these "nevers' he does exactly what he said he'd never do. Following his track record, the last never is "never let you go" where he is sitting with his wife and two daughters on a couch; well since all his prior "nevers" to which he swore he would never do - he did each and every one! So what is that telling you about his last "never" to "never let you go"? Follow the pattern and you can assume he will in fact "let them go" eventually. Think about it advertising geniuses...
Beware of this company trying to sell you a replacement cost policy on your business or home. Although it seems there agents are very honest and try to do the best for thier clients, thier claims people and processes are very much the opposite especially if your claim is ver large. If you think this company wants to pay you more to rebuild than what you paid you will have a very rude awakening. Be prepared to go to your. Lawyer. And file suite as they will want to do an investigation that takes years. They will hire an outside attorney to grill you and call it an examination under oath. In that exam they will try to make you admit to violations in your policy and if that doesn't work accuse you of criminal activity. Read your policy thoroughly and understand it totally. Make sure you have an attorney with you and absolutely don't give any statements without. One as they will use anything they can to beat your claim or beat you in court. They also already at this time before you even file a claim have processes and witnesses that will testify against you. Although many states have bad faith. Laws the insurance industry especially state farm thumb thier nose at it and the court system. You will be hard pressed to find professional witnesses against them as most make a comfortable living working for them. And get this they are forensic professionals because they have been to a 1 or 2 week seminar put on or paid for by the insurance company. They will run up your expenses and try to bankrupt you taking as long as they legally can, if they lose they will appeal and appeal again yes they have deeper pockets than anyone.
Just google bad faith and you'll find state farm as the poster child. If you and I operated a business like this we would go to prison for fraud and racketeering.
Way too expensive and not enough payment options. Progressive is so much better.
My husband and I had been with state farm for over 50 years, but when we submitted 3 claims in 2 years, our insurance was cancelled. Cancelling someones insurance after 50+ years of paying premiums on time,(and not cheap premiums)makes a loud statement about "the good neighbor." they're not the kind of "neighbor" I want or need.
BAD FAITH INSURERS stay away they don't care, there claims processing are the scum of scum. They are only interested in saving a dollar for themselves Do yourself a favor and find another ins company worst I've ever dealt with and I've had ins for over 30 years! LIARS where they lie with a smile on their face. Lord have mercy on these souls and give me what I need to keep praying for this kind and not to get hateful! Cuz people let me tell ya My exp with State Farm was HORRIBLE I paid them to protect me they not only did not do what the policy and law states they make you feel awful and try to make it your fault and bad cuz you had an "ACCIDENT" its just what the name says "accident" for the love of pete!
Answer: Scam. They are terrible. Will take money from you and not explain why My grandpa has been with State Farm insurance since the 1960's. We have had great service up until the last 6 years. Everyone has always told me they were shit and told me all bad things about them but I always stood up for them. Well I'm here to say that was a slap in the face. We have filed a total of 8 claims this whole 60 years he's been with them. 3 for car wrecks, 1 being our fault, 1 being both parties fault, and the other one being the other parties fault but they did not have insurance so State Farm had to cover it. Another claim was when my car got stolen. There's was $1500 of damage done to it when it was stolen. THEY SPENT $15,000 FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS BRINGING IN STATE FARM LAWYERS AND INVESTIGATORS TO TRY TO PROVE MY DAUGHTERS DAD AND I WERE LYING ABOUT IT GETTING STOLEN. MIND YOU IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ONLY $1500 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY TREATED US LIKE CRIMINALS AND RACIALLY PROFILED MY DAUGHTERS DAD, EVEN TRIED TO GET US PUT IN JAIL FOR FRAUD. BUT GUESS WHAT THEY COULDN'T BECAUSE WE DID NOT LIE, IT WAS NOT FRAUD, MY CAR REALLY GOT STOLLEN. They are ignorant and even belittled me so much it made me cry. WHICH INFURIATED my grandpa and he confronted our representative about it and he said "there's nothing I can do that's what they do to people" They have lied to us multiple times. They cancelled my road side assistance because I had 2 incidences "too close together" We pay by the 6 months. I pay for my cars I own and my grandpa pays for the other cars because we are on a family plan. Well last time it was due it was $800 each for my cars. It's usually $600 each. I thought it was a one time thing and I paid it. But then I got another bill for $800 for the 6 months for each car. So I asked my insurance representative why it went up $200. He said he didn't know and he couldn't figure out why. There was also nothing he could do about it. They also called us and told us we were late on an insurance payment (again we pay by the 6 months) but they called 5 months into this last payment (that was most definitely paid I have plenty of proof) and said we were late on that payment. Why would you just now be contacting us if we were 5 months late on a payment and we still have coverage. So she went back through her system and called us said that she was "wrong" that it popped up it is due next month and she thought that meant we missed a payment. Is she dumb or what? Then proceeded to tell us we were 2 car payments past due. Which isn't true. And how would she know if it had been true. We never have been late on a payment. We are actually 2 months ahead on every car payment we have. So I called the bank that gave us the loan for this car and they said they have not communicated with State Farm at all. That that would be illegal to do without our consent. That when someone calls about an account, they have to verify they are that person, and then everything that is discussed and done is written in the notes of that phone call and put with that account so they can go back and look for future reference and such. I know someone that recently stopped working for them and she said I quote "I will not work for a company that is dishonest, deceives, doesn't care about their clients, tries to screw them over, does NOT act in way insurance companies should or any company should, and treats people like criminals. We are here to help not to screw people over. But State Farm does just that. Their clients pay extremely high prices but cant use their insurance half the time because State Farm is trash and wants to fight every claim that's filed. I have morals and values and working for them makes me look bad. I can't believe the things they are doing to people and the way they are treating people. I WILL not work for a company that is more than greedy, takes advantage of people and manipulates people. I'm thinking about calling the Better Business Bureau and I encourage you all to as well!" I know for a fact (from another person I know that currently works there and is getting ready to quit because of that horrible things State Farm does) that they will do absolutely anything and add fake charges to people's bills just to get extra money. So with that being said STATE FARM THIS IS WHAT I HAVE TO SAY TO YOU FOR SCREWING ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS OVER (especially ones like my family that have been with you for 60 plus years) AND NOT DOING RIGHT BY US. SCREW YOU. I HOPE THE WHOLE COMPANY GOES OUT OF BUSINESS AND IT REALLY SHOWS WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE YALL ARE. **Remember when you said you would drop me if I filed a very very small claim WELL HERES ME DROPPING YOU HORRIBLE PEOPLE.
Answer: Discount my ass I was in an accident and was not at fault and my insurance went up $60 a month.
