Ive bought a few phones on swappa. All have been good deals and have all worked well. Never had any problems and all sellers have shipped fast. I cant speak to the seller experience because i have only purchased on this site.
Its a pleasure to buy on this site, as the prices are actually very competitive compared to ebay or amazon. Why? Because theres no seller fees! Sellers dont have to increase thier prices to make up for fees as they do on amazon/ebay. So prices arent inflated. To sum it up your paying 10% higher for devices than you should be. Since 10% is the fees charged to sellers on both amazon and ebay. Ebay offers no protection themselves, paypal handles everything! They are offering all the protection! So if you felt safe ebay, you should feel just as safe using swappa as they use PAYPAL ONLY!
Sold my phone 2 years ago, and the shipping was delayed by UPS unbeknownst to me. The buyer contacted me, after after looking into it, I informed them of the situation. They weren't happy, but accepted my phone. Flash forward two years and my email won't log in. After contacting support, they said I was banned for stiffing a buyer, no longer welcome, and refused to answer any other email.
I ordered with Swappa and had an awful awful experience. I asked a seller a question - if she could unlock the phone. She responded she would not. I responded by saying that is FINE, I still want the phone. She refused to sell tome. I placed the order a few times, and instead of informing me that they could understand how frustrating this was for me that someone would simply not sell to me - swappa banned me from the site and tried to charge me the transaction fee. I advise you all to use amazon, and avoid this site, it is very scammy. One time I received a locked (stolen) phone and it was very difficult to return and I ended up needing to complain through paypal to resolve it. Not only this but swappa has NO phone number, they won't take your phone calls, they're rude over email and twitter (where they did not respond even ONCE to my complaints). Take your business elsewhere and spare yourself the headache.
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S 4 cell phone from Swappa.com and 6 weeks after using it, the phone was blacklisted (blocked because it was reported as stolen). There is NOTHING I can do about it. My carrier, AT&T cannot unblock it, only the person who reported it can unblock it. The seller on Swappa and Swappa.com will not take responsibility for it since they checked the ESN number at time of sale and it cleared. Probably not getting a refund from PayPal since it was past the 45 day mark. Swappa eventually refunded me $10 but the seller refuses and Swappa can't force them to. So I'm out $240 and a nice phone. I would NOT recommend buying a cell phone from Swappa.com or a similar site like Craigslist, Ebay, since as I discovered, a phone can be blacklisted at any time.
I ordered my phone for half the price Verizon was selling it for. My phone was in brand new condition. The seller was cooperative, the only bad thing was how slow USPS took to deliver my package. Overall I'll recommend this site to anybody looking to buy a new phone at much reasonable price.

Answer: Hi Peggy. If you receive a device that is not as advertised then you can return it for a refund. Our policy is that simple. Swappa staff works hard to prevent problems from happening, and PayPal has extensive buyer protections in case they do. Buy with confidence. Thanks for using Swappa.
Answer: Hi Alfred, Swappa requires all users to provide the ESN number for each device when creating a listing as a verification step. For more questions, please email our support team - help@swappa.com Thanks!
Answer: Very safe, I've bought and sold over 40 phones using Swappa and have only had one problem... When that happened both Swappa and PayPal had my back.
Answer: Yes, you should remove and keep your SIM card when you sell your used phone. SIM cards are tied to your account, so are not transferable. More information and why in our FAQ: https://swappa.com/faq/sell/sim_card_included
Answer: Because they are scammers and a holes. They can't be bothered with you. Awful site. Use eBay instead.
Answer: Swappa guarantees it which goes above and beyond paypal. They are running IMEI checks and they do a great job. It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.
Answer: Contact Swappa support. If an item is not as described by seller, the buyer is entitle to a refund.
Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
