I purchased a few rattlesnake plantains and they have done well. I'm hoping to plant the golden seal and the running cedar at the same location.
Very nice, though I was inexperienced at first in how to handle bare root trees. I lost a few because I couldn't get them planted right away once they arrived.
Thank you so much!
My husband and I are avid gardeners, both with landscaping and growing vegetables for years. These trees we purchased were alive when we received them but they began to die right away.
Thank you for your review, and I’m truly sorry to hear about your dogwoods. Even with lots of gardening experience, dormant bare-root trees can be tricky because they look alive on arrival but need very specific handling in the first few weeks.
I’d be happy to take a look and see what happened. Please email me photos at help@tnnursery.net, including a quick scratch test on the stems, and I’ll make sure you’re taken care of according to our warranty.

Came earlier than requested but everything worked out (wasn't home to open gate) can't wait to plant them and watch them grow.
Thank you so much!
Great. Received extra and will be planting the persimmon trees in all my neighborhood for free. I have over 10,000 followers on tik tok and want to get a couple free trees to do unboxing. Also I've planted over 50 trees in my property from yall and received over 250 trees in total from yall.
Thank you so much!
I have family living in Tennessee and I appreciate having a way to send interesting gifts that they love. The landscaping plants I've sent in the past are thriving.
Thank you so much!
2025 -Redbud Trees arrived when expected and did well this summer after planting. This will be their first winter in Vt. I am hoping they will continue to thrive this spring in this climate.
Thank you so much!
Great selection of natives, beautifully shipped without excess packaging. Generous bundles of bare roots. I will always choose to order from this nursery before any other.
Thank you for supporting our business!
Trees came packaged very professionally, TN Nursery's kept me updated with my order and ensured that I received my order as scheduled. The trees came alive and ready to be planted. Thanks for the great service
Thank you so much!
Plants arrived, well packaged and when expected. I was notified when they shipped with tracking number included. Bare root plants were the order, planted per instructions and plants are growing without problems. Will order more from this nursery.
Thank you so much!
Your service has been good. Today, I could not use a billing address a PO Box) separate from my home address. I hope this doesn't cause an issue with my payment method.
Please affirm or deny (in your marketing) that you are growing all your own plants and not harvesting wild plants. I'm suspicious. I hesitate to buy because of that and because your plant description are so vague. Botanical names are important, please use them.
2 plants never grew for over a year and now they only give a store credit and not reship me 2 plants so the first time was free shipping this time I have to pay for shipping costing me 17.58.
Thank you for your feedback. I want to clarify how our warranty works so there’s no confusion. Our standard warranty covers the plant cost only—not shipping—and replacements are issued as store credit. Shipping is always paid by the customer, both on the original order and on any warranty claims. This has always been our policy and is standard across bare-root nurseries since shipping carriers charge separately for each delivery.
If you’d like help choosing your replacement persimmons or want me to check viability photos, please email me at help@tnnursery.net
and I’ll be happy to assist.

They have misleading plant listings. They will pester you for reviews/ newsletter subscriptions, etc with promises of discounts and/or expedited shipping and not honor it.You can fully expect their customer service people to argue with you over stupid stuff and not honor what they promise on their site. They also only offer a five-day warranty on their plants -- which are dormant when they arrive so there is absolutely NO way to tell if they are healthy stock until long past the warranty period is over (unless you purchase an extended warranty). I bought hundreds of dollars of plants from these guys this fall (which so far are dormant, so I can only trust they'll come up in the spring) and they literally just lost a customer because they are questioning my honesty over a single echinea plant they forgot to include in the last shipment. I hope it was worth it, Felicia.
Our plants ship fully dormant, which is why we always recommend doing a scratch test on arrival—if the tissue under the bark is green, the plant is alive and healthy. This allows customers to confirm viability immediately, not months later.
If anything was missing from your shipment, please email me a photo at help@tnnursery.net
and I’ll be happy to take care of it for you.

The plants are shipped bare root and dormant, so if you've never dealt with this before it can be a bit of a shock to open up the box and find what looks like dead sticks with roots. But I was expecting that (LOL) and I'm excited for spring. They came in Nov, so they are still dormant, but so far they're still alive as far as I can tell. I'll know more when they wake up in the spring.
Ordered 25 trees 9ish months ago. Shipping took long, probably killed (?) 9 trees. Planting instructions were non existent. Was not told to bark test for living or dead at time of arrival. At time of order I confirmed there was a one year guarantee. When 9 trees did not leaf out, the representative tried to tell me I had no guarantee because I didn't buy their protection plan. At the time of purchase, guarantee plan was different than today. Only refunded $52 which was not enough to replace dead trees. Shipping cost this time is outrageous. Previously it was free. Extremely disappointed in quality, lack of caring and empathy as well as replacement concerns.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I’m truly sorry for the frustration you’ve experienced. I want to clarify a few things so others reading have accurate information, and to help resolve this for you.
First, our shipping cost system was malfunctioning for a short period, and it did show incorrect rates. That issue has now been fully fixed, and shipping prices display properly again. I apologize for the confusion this caused — it was never intentional.
Regarding the trees that didn’t leaf out: bare-root stock arrives dormant, which is why we recommend the bark scratch test upon arrival to confirm viability. If any tree fails to break dormancy in spring within the guarantee window, we always issue store credit for the plant cost, which is what happened here. Shipping and discounts are not included in warranty credits, which is standard for all bare-root nurseries.
Our guarantee policy has been the same:
– Standard warranty covers plant cost
– Extended coverage is optional
I’m sorry if there was any confusion about the version you saw when ordering.
I do want to help make this right. Please email me directly at help@tnnursery.net if you need any more help. We care deeply about our customers and want you to have success with your trees.

Purchased a variety of perennial flowers and some Weigela shrubs. Flowers were advertised as just that FLOWERS. Instead of getting living flowers, I received several zip lock bags of bulbs with roots. Seems like classic bait and switch to me... Kept getting the runaround on shipment of last batch of "flowers" and Weigela shrubs. They initially asked me to wait 10-12 days for packing. After complaining after that they indicated order would be rushed out that day. I've asked for tracking numbers several times, but no response. Will initiate claim with credit card company. This place is a scam.
Thank you for your feedback, but I do need to correct several inaccurate statements for anyone reading. The perennials you ordered were sold and advertised as bare-root plants, not potted flowers. Every product page clearly shows photos of what bare-root items look like on arrival, and the description explains that they are shipped dormant with roots wrapped for protection. This is the standard way all perennial nurseries ship live plants during their dormant season — not bait and switch.
Your Weigela shrubs and perennials were delayed because we had freezing weather and a holiday carrier shutdown, and we held orders temporarily to prevent live plants from being damaged in transit. When conditions improved, your order moved into the digging and packing line, which is why you were given the 10–12 day timeline.
We did respond and advised that your order was being rushed. Tracking numbers are sent automatically once the carrier scans the package; they are not generated manually by us. If you didn’t receive tracking, it likely means the carrier had not yet scanned the shipment at the time you requested it.
We are absolutely not a scam. We are a 65-year, family-run nursery, and we ship thousands of bare-root plants exactly as described. Calling the business a scam because bare-root perennials do not resemble blooming flowers is inaccurate and misleading.
If you would like me to check your order personally or resend your tracking information, please email me directly at help@tnnursery.net
and I will assist you right away.

Very good experience. I chatted about planting and received instant reply.
Thank you so much!
Bought 2 trees last year and neither one survived. Not my first time buying or having fruit trees. Not the only persimmon trees I own. I bought others from a different nursery that are doing great. Only ones that didn't survive were the 2 I bought from here. Even though I demonstrated both didn't make it, I was only refunded half. I had to pay for shipping today to use the credit I was given. Hopefully these will survive.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m truly sorry your first two persimmons didn’t survive. We always want every customer to have success, and I understand how disappointing it is when some trees thrive and others don’t.
I do want to clarify the credit you received. Our warranty covers the plant cost only, not shipping, which is why your refund was for half. This is the same policy used by most bare-root nurseries, and it was applied correctly based on the order details and the photos you provided. When using store credit, shipping is always charged separately because it goes directly to the carrier.
That said, I genuinely hope the new trees do great for you. If you need planting tips or want me to check their progress in spring, please email me anytime at help@tnnursery.net — I’m happy to help you get the best outcome possible.

Several years ago, I ordered a Mapleleaf Viburnum, but got a Doublefile Viburnum instead. Took me 2-3 years to determine this. Other than this one time, service has been excellent. Thank you
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review and for being a loyal customer — we truly appreciate you. I also want to gently clarify your concern about Privet, Burning Bush, Lily of the Valley, and Mimosa. These plants do not harm wildlife when grown in managed residential landscapes, which is where the vast majority of our customers plant them.
• These species become problematic only when they spread unchecked in unmanaged wild areas. Landscape environments do not behave the same way as forest understories or abandoned fields.
• Cultivated garden varieties are pruned, contained, and maintained, which prevents the uncontrolled spread associated with invasive behavior.
• Many wildlife species actually use these plants for shelter or nectar when grown responsibly.
• We clearly label plants that can naturalize so customers can make informed decisions, and we always encourage proper maintenance.
Our goal is to offer a wide variety of plants while giving gardeners the information they need to plant responsibly. At the same time, we continue to expand our native inventory for customers who prefer exclusively native species.
Thank you again for your kind words and for supporting a small Tennessee nursery — it means more than you know.
I've ordered from this shop several times and have always been happy, but unfortunately, this time was a disappointment. The item was scheduled for an earlier fall delivery, but it didn't arrive until mid-December—well past when it could be used due to frozen ground and snow. I appreciate the quality of the product, but the timing made it unusable. I wish there had been better communication or a more accurate shipping estimate.
Most trees arrived healthy and took root. One shipment was delayed, not sure why. Trees in that shipment did not make it. I consulted the seller and not much effort was put into replacing the trees.
Thank you for your honest review, and I’m really glad to hear most of your trees arrived healthy and took root. I do want to apologize for the delayed shipment — when carriers hold packages unexpectedly, it can unfortunately affect the condition of live plants. I’m also sorry if it felt like we didn’t put enough effort into helping with replacements. That’s never the experience we want for anyone.
Since you’re giving us another chance, I’d really like to make sure this next experience is a great one. Please email me directly at help@tnnursery.net with your order number and I’ll personally review the trees that didn’t make it and see what we can do to help you get a better outcome this time.
We truly appreciate you sticking with us, and we’ll do everything we can to ensure your next order grows beautifully.
