Travelocity Reviews Summary

Travelocity's reputation is predominantly marred by negative customer experiences, particularly concerning their customer service and refund policies. Many customers express frustration over poor communication, lack of support, and difficulties in obtaining refunds for canceled bookings. Complaints often highlight unexpected fees, miscommunication regarding rental agreements, and unfulfilled service promises. While a few reviews mention competitive pricing, the overwhelming sentiment suggests that the potential savings are overshadowed by the company's perceived dishonesty and inadequate service. Overall, customers advise caution when considering Travelocity for travel arrangements, emphasizing a lack of trust in the company's practices.

Customer Service
April 12, 2021

Have booked many trips with Travelocity and everyone seems to have some issue. Most recently, trip to Cancun. Travel included roudtrip transportation from Airport to Hotel. The company used was Smile & Go. Airport to Hotel was great. Then day before our return, an email was sent stating our return trip had been canceled and to contact Travelocity for refund. Had I not been checking email I would not have realized we didn't have transportation and to book another company requires 24 hours advance notice. So we ended up with a great Cab driver so all worked out.
Until you have to contact Travelocity - It's been a week and still have not been able to reach anyone. Chat is automated and every time a phone call turns into 20 + minutes and then give up. Just not a good experience and seems like Smile and Go should be communicating to Travelocity the service wasn't provided and an automatic Credit sent. I don't anticipate I'll be getting a refund.

Getting a hold of someone is impossible. Resetting your password takes at least a whole day and you'll miss on a good flight before you can log back in. You may never speak to someone. Rebooking is a pain. Don't use them. Spend an extra 50-100 somewhere else. It'll be worth it. Their fees are too high anyways. I hope they crumble. They shouldn't be able to serve the public and not be accessible. It's their duty to respond and help their patrons. They're completely gone. No where to be found but they're taking our money.

We had to cancel our trip last July 2020 because of COVID-19. Although there is a GLOBAL PANDEMIC THAT NO ONE COULD HAVE PREDICTED going on, Travelocity seems oblivious to this or simply do not care! The fabulous people at Travelocity, kept me on hold, hung up on me and wasted my time for over 3 HOURS! Different reps gave conflicting information. All I was trying to do was re-book my trip with the use of my airfare "credit." Guess what?! After 3 hours of talking to dead end reps, turns out my credit is conveniently "expired" now. Yet my Travelocity account reflects the "credit" and even shows a button that says "use credit." It doesn't say "expired" anywhere on there. What about an email warning customers about an approaching expiration date? NOPE! That's too high an expectation for Travelocity to meet. So even during a GLOBAL HEALTH CRISIS Travelocity offers no flexibility, courtesy, compassion or even professionalism. They are keeping all of our money which is over $1100! They said I shouldve booked my trip by January 2021, while the pandemic was still HIGH RISK! They dont care about their customers. Once they have your cash they are DONE with you! I will never, ever use them or any of their partner companies again! All the victims should post on their social media to bring more attention to these scammers. #boycotttravelocity

I have been dealing with Travelocity since March 2020 trying to get back $470 for my flights that had to be cancelled due to COVID. I have called and messaged many times; I have been put on hold for hours, hung up on, texts closed out; I have escalated to supervisors and was shut down. I was told to go to JetBlue but then redirected back to Travelocity. They will not give the money back; they will not allow a family member to use the money; they made it an extreme/near impossible challenge for me to even use the money. The credit is noted to be "JetBlue" credit and subject to their rules which, means a family member can use the credit yet Travelocity is negating what it's stating and saying that, that is not allowed. They can not produce formal documentation of this policy and every time I asked I was either hung up on or put on hold. I have been patronized and ignored. $470 to this company is nothing. I have even tried to contest the charges but, failed. I have read through many many reviews and realized my story is exactly the same. This is not right and the sign of really poor, crook like business model. I am still fighting to get my money back but, in the mean time it is my mission to make sure I share my story along with the others to help prevent this from happening to others. Please do not go through this company. It is a terrible, useless 3rd party company that does nothing for you but, lock you in with red tape. You will be better off ordering directly from the airlines/hotels/car company's. I will never use Travelocity again and will continue to discourage people around me from using it.

Don't Use Travelocity!
October 24, 2020

Horrible communications are going to leave me stranded in Minneapolis tomorrow night, due to flight changes meaning a late arrival that were never sent to me by Travelocity or United. Changes were made in late Sept, but I was never notified. Checked my spam, deleted and inbox folders, no one ever notified me. Lost 3 hours today on hold and trying to get in earlier so I could get home, since there's no transportation an hour out where I live. Thanks, I'll end up sitting the airport until Monday morning. I've booked through Travelocity for business and leisure for awhile, but I'll never do this again. And the rebooked flights stripped the First Class I paid for, until I lost an hour getting that back. As a disabled veteran, thanks for such poor service. Go ahead and remove this, I'm posting on a lot of travel sites tonight. Don't blame COVID, this is truly poor service.

An agent that I was speaking with couldn't book my trip and I was hung up on and I called back and it, was the same man and he was just stupid.
All I wanted was my trip to be booked and I wasn't rude to this man".

Crooks
October 1, 2020

Who could of predicted COVID? We had planned our trip of a lifetime for Australia. I did most of it myself. Travelocity offered a great package for part. What a bunch of crooks. A ponzu scheme. Everything I booked myself, zero issues changing or refunding for next year. Travelocity has stolen our money and wasted 4.5 hours of my time to do it. Can safely say do it yourself, save your money and your time. Awful. Do not book any a thing with this company.

Flights and hotels
August 31, 2020

I booked a round trip from Atlanta to Newark on Delta with travelocity only to have the return flight on United Airlines. Delta was awesome, United forced me to check in my carry on bag that easily fit in the over head and charged me an additional $35. The lady at United was rude and said it said on my ticket I couldn't carry on. The problem is they wouldn't let me do online boarding so I couldn't get a ticket till I was in the airport. I also booked a hotel in Newark at the Crown Plaza in Elizabeth. The floor I was on must have been used for prostitution or who knows what. The hall was loud and noises till 2am. One guy had his small 2-3 year old up and down the hallway till 2 am. Told the staff but nothing happened. Horrible! They might want to look into that for child trafficking.

I reserved one night and both the Travelocity confirmation and property email said I had until 8/14 to cancel without penalty. I cancelled now 8/12 and was told that the full deposit will be kept. I will be challenging this. I should have used TripAdvisor - I have used them often in the past without issue. Stay away from Travelocity!

Travelocity would not give me refund for a cancelled flight to Germany after listing "flights" from an "airline" that doesn't actually have planes.

Travelocity props up, and is okay with lying to their customers about, a fake german "airline" called Involatus that is actually just a scam travel agency.

Travelocity takes no responsibility for listing this fake business as if it was a legitimate airline.

Travelocity makes $914 million dollars annually but can only say they are "sorry" instead of refunding $1K to someone after they had their flight cancelled.

If I haven't said this before, I am stating it again. I will NEVER use Travelocity again. I am still on the phone after a Chat on their site this morning and then waiting for over an hour for a 'call back', and now on a call for over 1 hour to obtain a refund due to an airlines cancellation of part of my trip. If I had not 'screen shot' the conversation on Chat, I may not even be this far. They are lying to each other and to me. I am disputing the charges on my card at this time because they will not give me a full refund due to the changes the airline made. What can I do with a one way trip to Seattle? Maybe hitch a ride home when we are done? And I was told that that part of the trip was cancelled as well along with part of the return trip. All that was left was a trip from Seattle to Chicago. This would be great if I LIVED IN SEATTLE OR CHICAGO... seriously. Okay done venting... for now. Still on hold so maybe not..

I fully paid for a nonrefundable hotel booking (Hotel Amadeus in Krakow Poland) through Travelocity in Jan of 2020 prior to Covid. Booking was for late June 2020. Post Covid, All travel plans to get to Poland were canceled by the cruise lines the airlines etc. 100 of all the other vendors in this Travel Chain refunded deposits and payments 100%. (Iceland Air, Seven Seas Cruises, Whizz Air, Lot Air) The only ones not to refund were Hotel Amadeus and Travelocity. Travelocity has not paid the hotel yet but says they cant refund the money because the hotel refuses to give Travelocity the authorization to refund. In this case why even use a third party service like Travelocity to book when they wont hold unscrupulous vendors to account. Will never use Travelocity again as they add no value to the Travel chain.

They dont say anywhere on the site that the will take 30 days to get you a refund... ripe off. AND on top of this, the hotel is close for COVID. Funny how they can pull the money out in seconds, but can't give you a refund for weeks. They are pulling a scam, take your money for something you cant even get, then make you wait 30 days to get your monry back... so WRONG!

Never use Travelocity ever. They will not help you with any of your bookings if they are canceled by the airline.if there is a credit to be given by the airline Travelocity will make you call the airline oh, so you might as well call the airline to book your flight. Travelocity is worthless...

I had booked a vacation from Chi to FL which had to be canceled due to Covid 19 and Travelocity issued flight credit valid for 12 months. I had to be on hold 2 times for 3 hours until I got a hold of a customer service representative. I searched for my new tickets to Florida with AA and found 2 roundtrip tickets for $512 and it clearly stated on the bottom that the price is for 2 travelers. $230 departure flight and the rest was for the return flight per individual. The representative finally answers and tells me that i need ro pay 512 per person and her system was down and we both knew that's a lie. SCAMMER! I fly all the time and the only reason i didn't book it myself is because you needan agenr to assist you. They are going out of their way to prevent people from using those flight credits and have the most unprofessional and undertrained employees... EXPIDIA IS GREAT A D I NEVER HAVE HAD ISSUES LIKE THESE WITH THEM! I have screenshots of everything as well

We had booked a flight to Japan in April to catch a cruise. When the cruise line cancelled the cruise in early March, I contacted Travelocity. After several phone calls, I finally got an e-mail from Travelocity that we were getting airline credit, and that another email would be forthcoming with the details, e.g., "travel by date", etc. When it didn't come, I called Travelocity several times - got put on hold, got hung up on, the works. A few weeks later, got an e-mail from American Airlines stating that the airline had refunded Travelocity for our tickets. So after 45 minutes on the phone, I was told that it would take 8 weeks to receive the refund. When I asked to talk to a supervisor, I was put on hold for close to an hour, then got hung up on! Will never again use Travelocity.

Horrible experience! I had to cancel a trip last-minute because the coronavirus made the conference I was attending shut down. I was on the phone with Travelocity (through whom I had booked the hotel) for almost an hour, was constantly put on hold, and then they claimed they had gotten a refund for me.

Weeks later, I have gotten no refund, and when I contacted the hotel they said that Travelocity hadn't even canceled the stay! I tried to call them but their line was "out of business", and a "chat agent" was incredibly unhelpful and basically said they had done the refund but the hotel had refused it (which wasn't true).

I will never use them again, and suggest you don't either. Horrible company!
