Eighteen years as a member. Zero incidents. They have raised our rates by $480. When we were hit by another driver, that took full liability, they left us stranded from 9:00 PM until after 12:00 AM. We only got home after that because we paid for our own ride. Our vehicle was left at the scene of the accident for over 18 hours before they showed up. USAA is not only not a benefit for service members (myself) and their families, it is worse than other insurance agencies.
Follow-up to original post (above): USAA tried ONE time to contact me. ONCE today 9/26. CHERYL ext: *******.
I called back and listen to ten rings and got an answering machine. I left a message in regards to the missed call. She never called back. Then USAA claimed they have been trying to contact me from 9/16-9/25 with no contact. I saw this shift of blame and tried to call CHERYL ext: *******, again, twice. I got sent straight to the answering machine after one ring, both times. I left another message. If you have a choice, avoid this company.
Always hire a lawyer when dealing with USAA. Here are the tactics USAA uses to avoid paying your car claim.
1. Ignore your phone calls and delay for months to wear you down
2.Make you manage their claim department to get things done
3.Each new person shows surprise that no one has called you back and promises to take care of it
4.Tell you that your 2022 claim was on an old system and only a few people can access that system
5.Play a game that the market value of a wrecked car is within $500 dollars of an unwrecked car.
Go somewhere else.
USAA has changed dramatically! They require up-teen passwords to get on! I was late once in 18 years on my mortgage because i decided to pay cash for Christmas. They called me everyday until the 15th! Once I was late …once. Left them on my mortgage. They've gone up in price! They've opened the barn doors to everyone.( probably because they accept everyone) Getting ready to jump to a State Farm or Geico for car insurance. Not what they used to be!
We have been with them for 30 years. Had 4 products with them. We are down to one. We have always been happy with them. Since 2019 I think they all work from home and none of them have a supervisor over them holding them accountable. Rude and dont give a crap whether your happy or not. I was actually told well if your unhappy go somewhere else WTF. Im just agree that USAA who was suppose to help military people has gone away. I talked to alot of military retirees who feel the sameway and have left completely. Go somewhere else. Plus I had a issue with a charge that shouldnt of been on there. No one called me like they usually do. I called and talk to a lady she took my information to explain what happen she said someone would call me. No one again never called me and they made judgement without even talk to me. We will be going somewhere else soon as the card is paid off. They are not the same anymore.
I have been trying to open a checking account with usaa for a month now. I sent in all my paperwork necessary and they are so incompetent that every follow-up call I was told the very same thing. They are terrible at their job and I would never recommend them to anyone.
USAA is riding on the shirt tails of days gone by. Customer service has gone down hill over the last few years. Insurance rates are no longer competitive. I went with another company and got slightly more coverage for a lot less. They are using their former military heritage to sucker vets.
The only good thing about ussa is the cost of their policies. That's it! Website is difficult to navigate, partly because I have to login every time I click on a different department. Then, change my pass code. Today I visited the website to change mt source of paying. I had to login 5 times, and receive 4 6 digit codes by text just to get where I wanted. But the worst of it for me is there are no usss agents in the field!
No storefront offices. You rely on either lengthy waits to speak with an agent, or use the website. You're screwed either way. I left Allstate after 20 yrs because of how vet friendly is usaa. Hogwash. It's fine IF you never need to use your insurance, or if you don't prefer having a live agent you can drop by to do business. I have been driving for 60 years. Usaa is in a class all by itself. No other insurance company is within shouting distance of how bad is usaa.
I TRIED TO STOP PAYMENT ON A $1,000. CHAEK. I was assured by an employee that if there were insufficient funds in my checking account, instead USAA charged my credit card.
I've banked with USAA for almost 30 years and on 11 Jul 2023 my account was frozen and put under review without warning and I'm being denied access to my entire life savings. I can't pay my bills, I can't withdraw money, go to the store or put gas in my car. I have a wife, daughter and take care of my 81 year old mother. I'm screwed! They would tell me anything but it started right after I tried send money to fund a crypto trading account. My accounts with my names using their process on my identified IPad and IPhone and money was never sent. But I get frozen out wit no word. I called a few times trying to possibly clarify what could be the problem. They refused to speak to me and treated me like a criminal. I'm a disabled veteran and I've served my country for 30 years in the U.S. Army, Federal Law Enforcement and as a contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan for 12 years and this is how I get treated. Everyone thinks they are doing righteous things and hide behind policies and regulations while they screw you over and destroy lives in the process.
WOW THEY ARE BAD, 1 HR AGAIN ON THE PHONE, 4 TRANSFERS AND THEN THEY HUNG UP ON ME.OMG WHAT A JOKE. I COULD NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AND I DEAL WITH INSUARANCE ALL DAY EVERYDAY.
I've been trying to get a hold removed on a personal check I deposited through the app- gave me the whole nsf funds spiel- but then the app gave the the error stating I wasn't able to make the deposit- tried a different check whereas before when being prompted by the depositing message it said 200 would be a available and the rest would be held- now all of it is held and the hold time increased from 10th to the 19th… No one I have spoke to has been able to give me any useful information parroting that the system sets the parameters, but the nsf hold amount was for 30$ how does that justify holding the entirety of an 800$ check?
I asked to speak with a manager, anyone that could help and the last representative refused stating they had "better things to do" than deal with customer complaints/ escalations.
Can't say that this company gives a single $#*! about you, cause it sure as hell seems they don't about me.
I've been a Usaa meme we since I was basically a kid and this is the most frustrating and valueless I've ever felt.
If you are thinking of banking with them I would strongly advise not to, try a credit union or navy fed, these people don't even think you're worth talking to apparently.
After 3hrs. Of being passed from dept. to dept and company to company by the USAA agents. I learned after 3 hrs. That I cannot get a $10m umbrella policy with USAA and keep my insurance (home and Auto) with USAA. The USAA affiliate (Liberty Mutual) will not write umbrella coverage unless I switch my auto insurance to them. Poorly trained with wrong information USAA agents waisted my entire morning. I would like a customer service rep to call me. *******315) Not happy and disappointed since my experience was bad considering my expectation.
Do not ever deposit any type checks because they will put up to a 10 day hold on them. They say it's because of the system. Well, the system is broken and it never supports Soldiers branch in Fort Campbell has closed down veterans. I feel even more sorry for them. They do not care if they are being an inconvenience they just want to keep making money off of us. I could understand if you had a bad history for checks and they would not honor them and wait but they do not even reach out to the check issuers to verify the funds. I've been with him for over 20+ years I am leaving.!
We've been with USAA for over 40 years and UNTIL recent years have been very satisfied. HOWEVER, recent business with them has been ABYSMAL! Sloppy clerical work, missing their own deadlines, ineffective customer service! TERRIBLE
Used them many of times for auto loans never had a issues with anything after reading reviews had not one single promblem with USAA customer for 15 years.
I left the Army on February 16th after given two weeks notice of my discharge. As soon as I knew that I indicated that by filling out USAA's transitioning service members resources. On March 1st I received no more income and since there wasn't any time to apply and be approved for normal VA and financial resources that Veterans receive I applied to several other financial assistance programs since and the only resources we (my family and I) have received was emergency food stamps as I was denied or received no reply for rent or utilities assistance, so my last option was to withdraw my retirement savings to prevent being sent a nonpayment of rent this month as well as paying for utilities and debts I owe. However, when I received this money and tried to deposit it, it was immediately put on hold and only less than 10% of the balance was deposited, which I assumed had a $10,000 deposit limit. Because of these holds, which when I called today to see if they could remove it, they said they couldn't and wouldn't do anything until the hold was removed which is March 16, which by then I will be sent nonpayment of rent this month and allow the landlord the option to begin eviction. I will also have more late fees for returned payments. I chose USAA specifically because I thought they would understand and be sympathetic to my situation since USAA only serves service-members and their families but now it feels like our only relationship between us is for debt collection. These holds also prevent me from preparing to move out of our house this month to attend trade school. I can't afford to wait until the 16th to use my money and because of this I can no longer recommend USAA as The Service-members Bank as my treatment from my transition to civilian life has been a nightmare due to them. I will probably have to go into more debt just to not have my family and I be homeless.
USAA stonewalls, points fingers, shirks responsibility. Even small claims are dragged out for months on end - leaving members without transportation while their own damaged vehicles sit in the driveway. USAA leaders have lost sight of their own core values and are tone deaf to customer needs.
I returned a perfectly good rental van to Budget Rental during the summer, but they damaged it sometime afterwards. It was not even a small damage: there were dents all along the driver side door, the sliding door panel, and the trunk door. It was something that would not have been missed, if I returned the van in that condition. However, Budget Rental then filed a claim with USAA in 10/2022, a full 6 months later. It was blatantly fraudulent. After what I consider useless perfunctory online investigating, USAA just decided to just pay them off, and I am stuck with a higher insurance premium. USAA is a totally different insurance company from when I joined 40 years ago. Pretty disappointing.
I no longer trust them! They screwed around with my claim, since Dec 24,2023. Now I am paying for their incompetence! No rental car because they FORGOT to call me! Sorry Nathan! I was completely serious!
There rep could have cost me everything by not adding vehicle on policy. Getting quotes on car, house and property atm

I am so grateful we did because they have never let us down once. I saw the bad reviews and I just can't imagine them getting a bad review because they have ALWAYS been excellent with us.
