My husband has been a member with USAA for almost 28 years. From a brand new Lt to his retirement as a Lt Col. We made an international purchase... or tried to (from a place I've ordered from before BTW) we verified PRIOR to pressing the process payment button through VISA AND also verified after with USAA it was NOT a fraudulent charge when we recieved the text to confirm that... yet the charge was still declined. AND our account is now under "review" for fraud. We can't access our money now for who knows how long (They say 3 buisness days, but I've seen comments regarding this and it seems that's what it starts as but that time gets longer) even after verifying multiple times this was a purchase WE were making. AND Now we have about 8 bills that aren't going to go through because we can only make deposits into our account. I probably would get this review alittle more~ if there was maybe actual fraud to look into... But we have verified multiple times now IT WAS US. So it seems, we're basically just waiting on someone to unlock our account now for a charge that was verified multiple times to be our own, BUT... In the meantime we don't have access to our funds and 8 bills we will be paying fees for when they bounce or don't go through because they are only accepting money INTO our account. And all this for a purchase we did everything we had to TO verify we DID MAKE.(OR TRIED TO the purchase never went through) And apparently nobody can do anything about this to speed the process up... Or at least we can't speak to anybody who actually can. I can't even view our accounts. And when I call the automated system it says my information isn't recognized. Like I don't exist... But Our direct deposit are still hitting just fine... Funny thing... Last month we had 20+ charges to Apple to our account back to back... That didn't trigger a "review" or even a block. This though... A international charge to a buisness I have purchased from before AND verified with VISA verification prior to pressing process AND through USAA verification AND verifying by phone in person... This does though. Hopefully Navy Fed treats their members alittle better

I have numerous things with them from insurance to home and went to get a car loan and have been waiting over a week for them to fund the loan. They don't tell you this up front but you will have a payment and and a due date and nothing for it. The car dealership of course will not release the vehicle until they have a tracer number or funding and still nothing after a week, but bet your $#*! I have a due date for the loan. Lied to by 4 different people including a supervisor from member services and still nothing…

I thought as a veteran I was making the right decision to get insurance through USAA. I also had family members join as well. My wife was in a car accident that was not her fault. We were fortunate to have it on video which made the insurance job much easier. Our vehicle was brand new with not as much as a door ding in it. We had found damage on the vehicle that the insurance company would not cover because they felt the damage was not from the accident. After doing numerous research online with supporting pictures, I sent this information to the insurance company and they still denied. Then I went out and got additional information from a Toyota collision center who specializes in these situations. They supported the claim that the damage was from the accident. Still denied. I am pulling the plug on this insurance company. We went three months without this vehicle and got it back with not all repairs completed. I took the hit and sold it damaged. It was a very disheartening stressful experience. The very thing you would count on from a good company not to have. I will pull my family off of this company as well.

The only snag is that they quit covering motorcycles and RVs. But have a house, renter, and umbrella. Customer service has been fantastic. Also, have a credit card, checking, saings. Use to have a brokerage, but USAA discontinued that as well. With my few claims over the years, they also have been very prompt and fair.

I've been a customer of USAA for almost 40 years. We moved to Big Island in September. Within minutes of our Ford Fusion being retrieved in pristine condition from the port in Hilo we were rear-ended by a Toyota Tacoma. USAA adjuster told me it would "make no difference" which insurance company we worked through - other drivers' Geico or ours USAA. WRONG! Upon trying to get an estimate, get the car repaired, even get an appointment, we learned that USAA has NO trusted providers on this Island! All the shops say "we can't work with you". My car was seen at a shop in Hilo, two estimates made, and then the shop says "sorry can't do any more". I finally asked - can I go through GEICO? When I made that change - the car was seen BY A GEICO PERSON (USAA has no peeps here, none) was declared a total loss, I had a rental car and payment process started. BEWARE if you are moving to HAWAII (or other rural areas?) USAA doesn't tell you what they cannot do. There are many other details of how I was (mis)treated in the process, but you get the gist.

We've been usaa customers for years and have never been delinquent in any payments or policies. Weve also been very loyal knowing that price isn't everything. We bought our home and refinanced shortly after. Usaa made mistakes with our escrow payment for the insurance and they admitted their mistake causing us to have no insurance coverage for 3 months. In response to their mistake they decided to charge us double to make up for the difference because they refuse to be the ones who pay for their own admitted mistake. Fast forward 3 months to today and we have an even larger amount than the billing amount we were informed about by double that! Everyone we spoke to said they don't understand but no one wants to refund the amount. We spent 2 hours asking for a supervisor and not one person would allow us to speak to someone. This is madness. You're not here for the veterans USAA. You're here for the paycheck. Pathetic and sick. We took our homeowners policy, both brand new vehicles policies to farmers. You'll never have us or anyone we know or care about back again. Shame on you!

Threw me under the Bus.
December 3, 2021

I was merging onto the highway when a female driver decided to pass me in the shoulder and hit me, instead of merging into the highway behind me. She also lied about the location. I had video proffered of the location. USAA did not represent ment me because she lied, even tho she admired to passing me on the shoulder. I hate USAA now.

Thank you for this opportunity. I Paid USAA Auto insurance for 20+ years. Never a Claim / Never a Ticket, but maybe 6 Roadside calls. My USAA insurance increased continuously, because of Virginia's Rates, I was told. I have paid USAA for years, being in the Military, and a single Mom, I believed I was getting the best price because USAA supports the Troops. I am a Senior now and Retired Military. Thought my USAA Auto insurance would decrease, but the insurance increased. I decided to shop around for Auto insurance. I called USAA to cancel and was told I will have to wait 6 months for my refund, just in case I changed my mind and wanted to come back. I spoke to at least three representatives, had asked for a supervisor. After being placed on hold, I was told the refund info is not in my policy, but on USAA Q&A Website. I asked, who is guaranteed 6 months to live. And is USAA guaranteed six more months to be in business? Cancelled my USAA Auto insurance and now have a very good rate with GEICO. I must mention, the tremendous savings at GEICO and in my policy Roadside assist is included. The main regret I have, is not calling Geico sooner.

USAA was founded to serve members of the Military. The company did things differently and prided themselves on excellent customer service and low fees. USAA is not what it was - not close. Over the past 3 decades the company raced to compete at the margin with every other large retail financial services company. Along the way, they not only lost pact with their Founders' premise and commitments, they lost their character and integrity. USAA recently agreed to pay $90 million for grossly negligent practices in their Life Insurance Division. They sold their brokerage business to Charles Schwab for a massive profit and did nothing to change the trajectory of their failing customer service. Looking at the USAA Community reports online provides a very clear picture of not only the many areas of failures at USAA, but also the outright lies, obfuscation, and misdirection - Reps will tell a customer there were no reports of the system down and immediately other customers will refute that response with their own tales of access woe. USAA is worst for their denial of the problem - meaning it will never get fixed. I moved to other banks and insurance companies. Even if I pay more, it is worth it to have access to my money, access to my information, and access to a human being on the phone. USAA went from best of class 40 years ago to absolute worst of the worst today. Until their management admits their failures and honestly addresses them, it will not change. Unfortunately, USAA Management is too busy spending their bonuses from the sale to Charles Schwab.

Crooks
August 28, 2021

11-year USAA member here. We have checking, savings, 2 homeowners policies, 4 auto policies, 1 personal property insurance policy, 2 auto loans, and a credit card with them.

We purchased mold endorsements with our policies at the time of creation. 2-years ago, we repaired a plumbing leak behind our washer and dryer, and confirmed there was no mold damage. When replacing floors recently, we discovered mold on the baseboard extending onto the studs surrounding the area where the leak occurred.

After filing a claim with USAA and providing proof of repairs, pictures of damage, professional inspection, and testing results confirming the source, our claim was denied because it was not filed within 1-year of the original leak.

This mold policy is worthless, and we've been financially raped by these crooks for over a decade. We will be promptly closing all of our accounts. USAA won't steal another penny from us.

I've been with USAA for 22 years. Just recently, there was fraud on my Visa card. I called and had it deactivated and they assured me I would have a new cards within 2 to 3 days. That didn't happen! Twenty days later, I call to get a new card expedited overnight and they would not do it! This is rediculous! You would think they would rather expedite the card instead of losing a customer of 22 years! I'm now looking into changing everything from USAA.

USAA auto insurance
July 29, 2021

Filed a claim with our USAA insurance after hitting a deer. Every email and text message says they will contact me with 2 business days. After almost 4 weeks they have never contacted me. I have to call them for updates. I sent the photos in for the claim and they keep saying 2 - 3 business days for review and 3 weeks later it is still 2- 3 business days. They blame it on COVID, not sure how COVID effects people looking at pictures. After almost 4 weeks no progress worst insurance company. Once renewal comes up they will loose my business.

I open stocks with USAA and I thought the stocks would be handled by them but it is handled by Victory Capital, who in my opinion, treat veterans who served their country like crap. I wrote to Myra Rivera of USAA, who is the Director of Marketing in regards to this situation, and conveniently, they have not gotten back to me nor have I received my stock money that I requested on July 12,2021 and today is July 29,2021. I would be leaving USAA because they are giving veterans money to people who are not registered with the BBB and underskilled at fundamental procedures. If a check is returned, there is no additional protocol. Let me say, I changed my address in June of 2021 and they still made this mistake. It is a disgrace. The type of service Americans are receiving from this country is disgusting at all levels.

When the pandamic started USAA closed their lobby banking facility. Only have drive through check cashing. Many banks initally went this route, but have since reopened their lobbies, not USAA lobbies still closed. But the closed lobby is only the start of the problem. They have six drive through lanes, but onlt TWO cashiers working the six lanes. Last week it took 48 minutes to cash a check. I have been a member of USAA for 46+years and for many many years I thought they could do no wrong, but some years ago they lost their way wanting to be a big time financial institution like Chase or god forbid Wells Fargo and they have succed but at the expense of their members. When they hooked up Victory Capital I immediately took all of my Investments out and but them in Capital Group American Funds. Smart move. My investments have never done better. Suppose I should thank USAA but I won't.

During my time utilizing USAA, they have inappropriately removed me from my joint bank account (without my signature). This led to only my soon-to-be ex husband on the account. After I was inappropriately removed, the third JOINT stimulus check was deposited into the bank account that did not have my name on it. My soon-to-be husband removed that money from the account. When I realized I was taken off and did not receive the stimulus check, I called to complain to USAA. They stated there was nothing they could do, even though I should have never been taken off the account. The USAA member should have requested my signature which obviously never happened. I submitted a claims report x2 and never heard anything back other than they could not help me.
In addition, when I was initially added to the USAA account (when my husband and I first got married), they gave me access to all of his previous statements ( which in the end was helpful for me, but clearly should have never occurred). I highly recommend against utilizing USAA!

USAA touts itself as an insurance company for families of Military and Veterans. They are not. First, they could not even do their job and submit the right forms to my state when I had an accident causing my license to be suspended. A form that should have been submitted first thing after the accident. Through an odd circumstance, I found out I had been driving on a suspended license and had no clue! This was 4 months after the accident and I was now having to follow up with them because of their incompetence! Not only that but it took them 4 months to get a check issued for the vehicle in the accident and I was stuck dealing with the lender! Also, they dropped my family when my husband got in trouble with the law and had to do time. I might understand not servicing my husband any longer... even though he is an Army Veteran who put his life on the line for our country... However, to drop a whole family while they are already dealing with something this life-changing I believe is unacceptable! They are already dealing with so much, even beyond the loss of a father and now being a single-parent home. I would have expected a little support from a company that touts themselves as being for families, specifically military and veteran families. I would not recommend them and will not do business with them again.

USAA is full of it. I just seen this commercial about how they supposed to be so loyal to the military like family. Complete false. My name is Elroy Casey Jr a 100% Honorable discharge Marine Corp vet. And they simply refused to issue me an account of any kind with them. I dare anyone show me or prove to me why I got rejected beside the simple fact in a Black Veteran. I have an state employee credit union account and another credit union account. But USAA treated me unprofessional without giving me any reason why I could not have any type of account with them. Especially when the only requirement is to be Honorable Discharge.

USAA claims to serve those who serve (and their families), but they only serve their own interests. I am a retired (service-disabled) Marine with over 20 years of active service in two war conflicts. I have been with USAA for decades and have paid into my auto policies over the year amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. I have a clean and excellent driving record with only minor incidents like a cracked windshield or hit by a tree.
Recently, my son crashed his Jeep and USAA declared it totaled. They wanted to settle me for half of the cost on the merits of their online appraiser company. This appraisal was done via the internet so no one actually inspected the vehicle or did an actual physical assessment. After three months of providing them with relevant and active comparables that show the value of my jeep to be twice their settlement amount, they refused to acknowledge my claim and refused to resettle the claim.
Once I was bent into accepting their claim, they once again (conveniently) made what they called an "error" in the final amount and offered an even lower amount. If I had not caught that error, I would have lost another $500. They simply adjusted the paperwork and did not even offer a better settlement for having wasted my time, made a financial mistake in the final settlement, and had me spend time of my own to verify the numbers once again. If I did this kind of mistake in my business, I would lose customers and I would lose their trust.
USAA is not looking out for us veterans. They are now so large and unaware of the damage they are inflicting on their customers by doing automated appraisals and errors in their settlement that they just don't care. What once was a great company that stood for United Services Automobile Association is now an Automated company that is not concerned with the bad service they provide. They only care about profits.
