I booked a sailing activity back in Dec of 2022 and received an email with the day and time of the activity Feb 16,2023, at 5 pm. We arrived at 4:20 pm only to have Wild Cabo Tours tell us that the sailing activity departed at 4 pm and confirmed that Trip Advisor / Viator provide the incorrect information in their email since they were the 3rd party providing the service. We immediately canceled our reservation and tried to call customer service and sent an email which I have records of. The activity was non-refundable so we had to book the same trip 3 days later directly through Wild Cabo Tours. We later provided proof of credit card transactions for both the initial booking and the second booking and the email provided by Viator showing the discrepancy. They still denied my claim which resulted in us losing 300 plus dollars. Other people experienced the same issue with poor coordination better between trip advisor and Cabo wabo (event host). I booked an Airport transfer from my hotel in Pattaya Thailand. Driver did not show up. I messaged Viator and they responded - informing me that the Driver is waiting. By then l had already engaged a hotel transport. Viator acknowledged initially that maybe the Driver had not gone to the correct address and promised me that they will complete an internal investigation. I was told l can provide the paperwork to show that l was not late etc with checking out. I received two emails - one to inform me of the investigation and the second within hours to inform me regretfully that they are not able to refund my money! How disappointing- l did not receive the service l had paid for and Viator refused to refund me. This is not the first time that this has happened. My bad luck for not reading more about Viator.
Our tour company Napa Valley Wine Tours didn't get our reservation until the day before our tour. Their supervisor Pattie did the right thing and honored the reservation. Their driver Steve made the day memorial. TripAdvisor use to be good, now all they want to do is sell you something. Going forward we will ONLY BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE ACTUAL TOUR PROVIDER.
Ended up wrongly cancelling a tour, thanks to technical issues with Viator's website. They ask me to login, when I do not have an account and make me signup. Now, when I want the tour - the prices have gone considerably up, and Viator says they cant do anything to help. No apology, no acknowledgement of errors with their website. Just very rude agents. You will better off dealing with the tour operators themselves.
Viator is running a bait and switch scam with promo codes. The promo code is validated when added to cart. Upon checkout the discount magically disappears and you are charged the full amount. Happened 3 times.
I find most tours booked via Viator were bad experiences & cost more. I would choose GetYourGuide.com, much better experience, fantastic local travel experts who often with college degrees in history, and cost less. Viator's local tour operators are usually not professional tour guides, they are just running businesses to make money, they read from a corporate binder, they have no knowledge of history, Viator tour guides gave me blank faces when I asked questions about history and local culture, and Viator tours cost more. We booked a night time street food tour for our first night in Bangkok. This was a night time tour just for my wife and myself. This was booked just a few days before we left home, and everything was perfect. Our guide and tuk tuk driver were waiting outside the hotel right on time. We visited various street food vendors, looked around temples, and had a great meal at the end. It was definitely as good if not better than we expected. I see lots of people have given viator a poor rating, perhaps this depends on the location. Other people in our holiday group also used viator and had no problems. All our trips that we booked while in Thailand were very well organised, the people there can't do enough for you. I can only give a good recommendation based on my happy experience using them.
The biggest scam there is. Falsely advertise discounts that they refuse to honor even when they directly email them to you and you can send them back as proof. They are horrible to deal with customer service wise since they shipped it all overseas and will literally just tell you no, you cannot talk to a manager, they do not even care about customer experience or service in any regard.
I canceled the deal but they never returned the money. I tried to reach out to their customer service and even sent an email but their customer service never responded.
Do not use this company! Terrible customer service they keep you on hold for hours. Cancelled trip at random and do not give you a full refund!
Viator accepted a booking and took my money for a tour which did not even exist. The operator was on vacation and had no tours scheduled for the next 1.5 months. We wasted time booking and traveling to the meet up point only to find that there was no tour, finally getting notification by e-mail from a surprised operator. Although Viator coordinated the refund, they made NO apology or even tried to compensate for my son's disappointment and our wasted vacation time. Clearly, this was Viator's screw-up. Poorly run operation with little sensitivity to the end customer.
I was twenty minutes late to a pick up which was scheduled between 8am and 8.30am. At 8.20 I called the operator, and they refused to collect me, refused to refund me and refused to rebook me for another day. Viator refused to refund me too, saying it was my fault for not being there on time. This despite the fact the operator may no effort to contact me by phone.
If I could give them zero stars I would! I booked my airport pick up weeks before. I received my confirmation with a pass that I saved to my apple wallet. I arrive at Gdansk airport from Houston Texas (which was a very long flight considering my 6 hour layover in Amsterdam) and no one is there to pick me up. My flight landed at 11:30pm and I waited 10 mins before I reached out to the whatsapp number provided by the website. They simply told me we don't have your reservation in the local carrier's system. HOW IS THAT MY FAULT!? So they just said sorry and processed a refund. So much hassle and stress when I paid in advance so I don't have to stand in 0 degree Celsius waiting for a car!
Was left behind around midnight on a tour that included transportation l have been trying to get my money back but viator incorrectly filed my claim and now says that can't give me my money back until the 3rd party company they used reaches back out them. It's been 2 weeks. They are a scam none of their customer service agents are helpful and I honestly don't understand how they are in business.

Bangkok $80 tour. Then suddenly cancelled & money returned. Ok so far. So I email "Why did you cancel?"
Answer FOUR EMAILS LATER requesting clarification.
"After internal review.flagged inappropriate transaction.cannot say anything more."
So I just said in four separate emails."just tell me as your valued customer.does this in any way involve me or is it directed toward something else.supposedly the tour operator?"
They refuse to exonerate me.making me feel I did something wrong.or I'm potentially under some sort of clandestine investigation here in Bangkok. THEY are the ones being in appropriate.

I used Viator to purchase multiple tickets for Architectural Boat Tour in Chicago - tickets were fully refundable within 24 hours before event. I attempted to cancel 2 of the tickets 48 hours before the event then 36 hours before the event, then 25 hours before the event - they gave me an endless runaround, but refused to refund the fully refundable tickets.
If I could give zero stars I would.the customer service of this company is horrible. Any issue you have will not be resolved in your favor. Attendants at the excursions are rude. Stay away! Book anywhere but here
I booked a tour through VIATOR and their operator never showed up and didn't respond to text and email messages. They told me to ask for a refund through the operator they contracted. They continue to market the service and collect money for the same tour.
Answer: They are legitimate, but they partner with bad-faith service providers and will not take responsibility for those bad-faith service providers negligence.
Answer: Because they are merely a bank with an offshore call center. They sub all tours to local companies and give nothing in return. I agree, never book with them
