Bought a book that has been out of print for over 15 years. Was rated "Like New". Received after 2 weeks with international shipping which is an ok time for delivery, not amazing but acceptable. No tracking number was provided. Book was shipped in a plastic wrap, resulting in a few dents and bruises on the cover. Rest of the book was in good condition and as described, even smelled like new (that ink smell when you open a book for the first time) when going through the pages. Condition of the cover of the book could have been much better preserved if shipped in a box, not a plastic wrap. However given the price paid I am very happy with the overall book condition. Support was very responsive and friendly when asking about the shipping status through Messenger. Had to pay no import fees as expected.

Meine erste Bestellung bei worldofbooks (auf der deutschen Version der Seite) war die komplette Staffel von "Lost". Sie ist gerade angekommen und sogar noch originalverpackt (Zustand war als "sehr gut" angegeben). Die Lieferung hat - wie von wob aber auch angekündigt - etwa 1,5 Wochen gedauert. Wer etwas Geduld hat, kann hier weit besseren Gewissens als bei amazon bestellen. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wieder dort bestellen und kann worldofbooks nur weiterempfehlen.

Ordered a book overseas but it never arrived. Seller claimed book was rejected by customs "probably due to Covid" and I was refunded. Asked seller to send book to a UK address and also for the tracking details of the failed delivery. Seller was slow to respond but eventually informed me that the book had been damaged and had been disposed of. I never received the tracking details. Clearly something weird going on. The lack of transparency make me not want to deal with this company again.

I've been trying for at least two weeks now to purchase a few books off their website (USA) and no matter what time of day or what device I'm using I am not able to check out. I put all my info in including my card information and when I click to submit the page just loads forever but never redirects and never completes my order. I have tried to contact them three times about this. All three times I get an email saying they will let IT know along with a list of all the steps necessary to check out.

Scammers! Offer inexpensive DVDs, but then do not send them (after 5 weeks still no goods). Then claim to have heard the goods have been heard twice. Total lie, I'm home every day because of the lockdown and everyone else is arriving! Now you are offering your rights DVD for the 3-fold rights and you want to pay me back my money!
Don't buy anything there! Scam

I ordered a book online. Transfered the money. Received an eMail three days later that the book has been shipped to my adress. Now, more than two weeks later, nothing has arrived. Costumer service is not replying (I sent two requests already). I read some reviews after this and I am not alone with this experience, or other bad experiences with World of Books. Listen to the bad reviews. Don't oder here. No service. Bad and sad. But they will gladly accept your money. I am glad it has only been 8 EUR.

Awful company

Paid $60 for an item and it never got delivered. Customer service took an entire 24 houts to reply and didn't help when they did. They just told me to contact UPS and I've now begun an endless wild goose chase that could take another few weeks of waiting for a package that will likely never come. Waste of time, energy, and money. Take your business elsewhere.

10 % Coupon rebate was not taken into account in final invoice yet I could see price change when I cut and paste coupon code in ordering window. I immediately informed WOB of discrepancy after I printed invoice for record and saw no rebate.

They answered to me 3 days later, basically 70 minutes AFTER they shipped the book that they can't do anything as I shall entered myself code when I ordered. Seriously?

Great range of books and quick delivery

I came across world of books at the start of the pandemic when I wanted to start reading more as I haven't done much since being a kid. So amazed by the large range of books available and absolutely love that they are pre loved! Due to the pandemic my first order was delayed, through no fault of anyone, World of Books were super honest and emailed me to keep me updated with the order. I have since ordered and am impressed by the swift delivery. Will continue to order and recommend.

Ordered two music CDs. Free shipping... if i ever get them. Only one even got a PayPal payment acknowledgement, and only one of the two (separately made) purchases shows up under my account but both have gotten "order shipped" emails. No idea when/if they'll arrive, as no tracking information whatsoever was provided. No tracking information exists on their web site, where only one of two purchases is listed under my account. And when I emailed support about this lack of tracking information on February 8th I received an auto-response which includes the line "We are now on a short break for the Christmas period but endeavour to respond to your email within 72 hours of our return, which is December 28th. " Maybe they didn't even come back 6 weeks ago and I'm just getting bot responses? Won't be doing any more business here, that's for certain. Assuming I've done any... maybe I've just been had, I can't tell.

UPDATE: This review got me a quick response, with two tracking numbers. It is now the 13th of February, the orders left WorldOfBooks (so they say) on the 3rd and 4th, and the USPS hasn't seen either one. WorldOfBooks' review monitor's response has been to tell me to sit and wait. My email to their actual contact address was responded to WELL AFTER the review site team was all over it- a hallmark of companies that know they're running a scam and don't want word getting out. Avoid this outfit like it's a plague carrier, you'll be happier.

FINAL WORD: Never saw my CDs, was given a refund after threatening to file a dispute with PayPal. Until said threat, kept getting "Just be patient and wait" type responses. Sticking with above assessment, avoid this site and you'll be much happier.

I purchased a book from World of Books on Abebooks.com. The book was a used book but was described as in very good condition. Here is the text from my request to return/refund my costs:

Reason for Return: item not as described
Initiator's Comments: The description for this book reads: "This book has been read but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged." Under book condition it is listed as "Very Good" Meanwhile the book that I received is warped so badly that it will not lie flat on the table and it is also warped vertically as well. This is hardly a book in "excellent condition" and by no stretch of the imagination can it be termed "Very Good" as its overall condition.

As you can see the book I received was warped so badly it would not even stand up.

I followed AbeBooks procedures to send the book back to the seller and in the meanwhile I went through a series of emails with the seller where I was requested to send pictures of the book. I did so and after some time I received a response from a support person.

He agreed that the book was not in the described condition and would I like to pick out another book from their store. (A stalling maneuver if I ever read one.) I replied that no, I did not want another book and that I had already sent the book back to them following AbeBooks policy.

I gave them the tracking number and told them that I expected to see the refund of the cost of the book and my shipping costs which is in line with AbeBooks policy when a books description is not accurate.

The next email I received told me that they had received the book in question and that:

"I have now fully refunded you and this may take a few days to appear in your account."

Ten days later I still have not received my refund. I have responded back to them that I expect my refund now. I have also written to them via the AbeBooks interface and I have also written a note to AbeBooks support.

I will update this review once something else happens.

Cheating liars
December 24, 2020

I bought a used book for a friend for Christmas. Ordered it through wobcanada on Amazon.ca. It was listed as in "good condition" with a photo of the book confirming this.

What my friend got, however, was a tattered old rag with no dust cover (contrary to the photo in the listing). When I complained to WoB, they said it was written in the description that the book had no dust cover. When I went back to look, this was true. Indeed, in the small print it says "no dust cover".

So why advertise it with a photo of the book WITH its dust cover?

Well WoB said this was just a stock photo that Amazon uses. Which, in my humble opinion, comes down to false advertising!

So here's the kicker. I want to return this book because it's in absolute $#*!ty condition. As mentioned above, I bought it through wobCANADA on the CANADIAN Amazon. But if I want to return it (paying shipping myself) I have to return it to... THE UK!

Basically these cheats get away with selling ragged old crap for a LOT MORE than its worth because returning their decrepit junk costs almost as much as you paid to buy it.

So please, stay away from these junk-peddling scam artists! You'll pay 3 times the price for absolute garbage.

Super Disappointed!

So I ordered a trilogy from World of Books, and when I ordered it, all the books had the same style of cover, but when they arrived, 2 of them had a different cover to the one I had ordered. The first one in the series was also said to be in 'very good condition' but it had multiple creases to the front and the spine, and half a pricing label was left on the front. I also found a receipt for W Smith books inside which stated that the book was bought for a lot less money New than I had paid for it used. This site seems like a bit of a scam to me. I won't be buying from them again!
