They perform auto-updates even when you have them disabled. Force you into new PHP versions by removing older versions. Now they are removing. Htaccess because they want users to use their new access rules section on their horrible built UI.
WHY CAN'T WE BUILD THE WEBSITES THE WAY WE WANT ON WP ENGINE? After being a dev for 15+ years I can say without a doubt this is the WORST hosting. Go anywhere else, preferrably where you have FULL CONTROL OVER THE WEBSITE YOU OWN.

You call and you get a systems analyst in the United States. No phone trees, no useless first level support. Straight to someone who can help you. I hope this never changes.
