Dodged a bullet when Young Explorers canceled my order—without telling me! Their excuse? Billing and shipping addresses didn't match…even though I purposely shipped gifts to a different address. Terrible customer service.
I placed an order and received all but one item. I have tried to connect with them almost 10 times and still no response. What kind of company can stay in business when they could care less about their customer.
Ordered a toy for grandson which was not what I expected. I called and asked for a return authorization and prepaid shipping label as their website clearly states. I was told a return label would be emailed to me within 48 as mailing it to me was much longer. After 86 hours I called back as I had not received the label. I was told the first agent was mistaken and they don't issue labels. I am responsible for shipping. I told the agent that the website clearly states to request a FedEx prepaid return label. Oh you can request it, but I have to pay for it. Very shady and I will not be making any purchases in the future.
I have worked in Customer Service for 40+ years. I have never witnessed such 'rude and unprofessional' service as performed by your representatives... When I called for assistance and FINALLY spoke to what I was thinking (shame on me!) would be a person TRAINED in providing assistance and customer service... BOY, WAS I EVER WRONG... I called yesterday and requested a RETURN LABEL - What was I thinking; I was told it would be sent via my email within 7 hours - 24 hours later and nothing received so I, again, made the mistake of calling Customer service - the Representative answered by saying 'HELLO'... I thought I had called my neighbor instead! But, no this was someone who should have been answering '900' calls... and was informed that they do not provide RETURN LABELS... Where do you suppose this company received their business degree... after being on hold for 15 minutes the Rep. Answered with 'HELLO' once again - I requested to be removed from all correspondence sent... Please read all the reviews on this company... not the product, but the type of unprofessional company you are dealing with - BUYER BEWARE! Order # L*******
I left items in my cart after deciding the total cost for those items was too high. (I get free shipping with Amazon purchases and decided I could find something similar to the items w/o S&H fees.) I then received an email offering 15% off and free shipping and handling if I ordered within 24 hours. I decided since I would not have to pay S&H AND would get 15% off of my purchase, to move forward with the purchase. After seeing the confirmation email, it showed a S&H charge was charged. I contacted customer support and was advised that this was a carrier imposed fee, not shipping and handling fee. I told the representative that it clearly states shipping and handling next to the charge. She advised me that the website says a carrier charge may be applied and was sorry I did not see that.( As if I would have known what that was anyway!) So I guess when they offer you free shipping and handling, they simply move that charge under a different heading on their end, but it still shows up as shipping and handling on my end. I purchased these items because of the "deal" that was offered to get me to come back and complete the sale. Because the item has shipped I was not able to cancel the order and the charge was not removed. This to me is bait and switch and I will pursue it further even though the S&H charge is minimal. The dollar amount is not the point. I don't appreciate the shady tactics used to get me to return to my cart to complete the purchase. I surely don't have high hopes that the items will be a good quality given the way this company is operating.
Ordered gifts, no shipping date offered, paid rushed shipping fees plus regular fees in order to be certain I would receive them somewhat timely. No communication afterwards re shipping, etc. After missing my granddaughter's bday and the party almost a week later, I asked to cancel order and be refunded. They told me no refund necessary as I wouldn't be charged until order shipped. I immediately checked the bank and saw I was charged ( not pending) on the day the order was placed. I called bank to demand refund and was told not possible as they could not be certain when order would be shipped. So I was to await shipping and delivery of my items, then go to the trouble of returning them and once they received order back, I would get my refund! Ridiculous! Contacted the BBB and just hours later, my order miraculously shipped. Kept the items to avoid more problems for me returning the order. But I should be refunded shipping fees I paid. And the company really should revamp order process and not accept orders without informing of delays and always give a estimated shipping date. Dishonorable company for sure. And I was a repeat customer but that's over now.
No complaints about the toys but BE-AWARE! If you purchased something from Young Explorers club you might have been also enrolled into their VIP membership. It is not worth the $16.30 a month. As a matter of fact, we didn't even know we were members until I kept seeing the revolving charge each month. Unfortunately, part of the blame is on me for not questioning it sooner but my wife gives to a lot charitable organizations and we buy a lot of toys for our Grandchildren. BLUF: I should have questioned it sooner.
Ordered toy for grandson and without knowing or authorization was signed up for a savings club which got you nothing but a recurring monthly bill for $14 or $15 per month. Do not buy from this company!
Here's how it works. You go buy a kids toy. During checkout, they will ask if you want something like 10% off or something like that. Most people won't read the fine print. Embedded in the fine print is that they will charge you 14.95 EVERY Month for a VIP subscription service that basically does NOTHING.
They basically hope that the people take awhile before noticing the charge on their CC's.
I talked to a nice lady in customer service and she said 75% of the calls she takes every day is people who are being preyed on with these 14.95 charges. If you call them, you will get 4 months back. Once you escalate, you will get 2 months more back. The remainder, call your credit card company to file a complaint and you will get the remainder back (after awhile). I can't believe a company who sells KIDS TOYS employs predatory subscription pricing. I will be filing an official complaint to the BBB.
Do a google search on YNG EXPLRS VIP and you will find scores of angry people who have gone through this ridiculous scam.
I received an email from the company saying they didn't have enough information about my complaint and to call customer service. I did and explained my desire to cancel the order and the company wouldn't do it. Most of the shipping and handling charge was a charge of $35 called international surcharge. When I asked what that was for he couldn't tell me. There was also a carrier surcharge of $2. For what! I was initially told it would be free to send the product back and get my refund. The post office in Calgary said oh no. It will cost me $59 to send it back. There's no way I'm paying that so I'll just keep the product. I asked if there was anything he could do to expedite a refund and all he said was "is there anything else I can help you with". I said, so you're going to do nothing about this". He said "have a nice day" and hung up.
Great customer service eh. I will never buy from this company again.
Good luck getting your order in the first place. If you do and need to return, they do not email a return label, they will send it REGULAR MAIL... if you get that label (within 7-10 days) and actually send it back, then it takes 4-6 WEEKS to get your refund. Customer service is HORRIBLE, the whole company feels like a total scam. Don't fall for it. Their website says they are BBB accredited. There's no way.
If you need your order within 5 days, I strongly recommend purchasing elsewhere. I placed a recent order, the website advertised a 2 day shipping option, but it would not let me choose that at check out. I contacted CS to place the order with them, paid a hella high price for their 'standard' shipping, ($29) with an additional $15 fee for "2 Day Express" delivery. My order was processed same day, but not sent to FedEx until 2 days later, with the 'express' information apparently omitted, as FedEx had it as 'standard', and I'm still waiting on delivery 6 days after the fact. Young Explorers are running a shipping scam.
I placed an order of over $300.00. I bank account was charged 3 times with 3 different prices of over $300.00. Called Customer Service which a JOKE. Telling me that they just have to hold my money until they confirm that my account is trusted. Are you kidding me right now?! It was evident that they charged me 3 times for the same order. I wanted my order cancelled, but these foreign workers, who are either playing me, or have an IQ of 0, did not cancel my order(s). Finally after speaking to several customer service reps, my order has been duplicated as I was charged. I would have to wait to receive these duplicate orders, and then ship them back to them, then Lord only knows how long before I get reimbursed! Also, they advertise on their web site to visit the FED EX site to get free shipment for my return. Another FRAUDULANT claim toward this company...I am beyond furious...I will NEVER shop this company again...Nor do I recommend them to anyone! And my rating is a ZERO STAR...they make you press a star in order for our review to post.
Ordered 2 products from Young Explorers (same item). Was charged two different prices for the same item, why? As it turned out I needed to return both items. I paid for shipping to send them back. I was credited full price for one of the items and SHORTED $21.26 for the second item. After two attempts to get the full refund, I continue to be told I am being charged for the shipping on the one item,... even though I paid shipping for both. Asked to talk to the manager, and of course, he/she is busy on another line... yea right! I will never buy from them again... got the same item on Amazon cheaper and shipping was free. If there was a negative star, that's what they would get. They don't even deserve a 1 star, had to give that for the review to go through.
Customer service is non-responsive. I have contacted Young Explorers via multiple ways trying to get a refund from items that I sent back in November 2021 but have never heard any response even though I have sent them all documentation that they could possibly ask for. Cancelled my orders but still received the items that I ended up having to pay shipping for to have them sent back. No refunds for the stuff I sent back and still waiting almost a year to hear about my refund. Paid for stuff I sent back and didn't keep. I will never order from this company again.
A real horses rear end operation. Returned 2 items in Nov. Have UPS tracking to prove it. They said 6 weeks for refund. Now 4 months. Called and was disconnected. Called back and was told they cannot figure out what was returned even though all their papers were filled out and submitted with returned items. Have to talk to level 2 customer service who is only open about 7 hours a day.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! Ordered a toy for a Christmas gift from this company in Dec 2021. They took my credit card info and signed me up for a recurring charge of $16.30 per month without my authorization. There is no way to log into your account on their website and cancel membership or remove credit card info. Customer service was very rude, kept interrupting me when I was trying to explain and ask for refund for the two months I was charged. Supposed to receive my refund within 2-7 business days, but she couldn't tell me how much the credits would be or to which credit card it would be refunded to. We'll see if I actually receive my refunds. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!
I wish I'd seen this website before buying a remote-controlled crane for my grandson last October. When it was opened at Christmas, I asked how it was and my son said unfortunately it was an (expensive) piece of junk. The remote had to be held really close to the crane to work at all, and the buttons on the remote were cheap plastic and had to be pushed many times to work, not easy for a child to do, and most likely due to break. There was no "return label" with the crane, so I called the company about returning it for a refund as per their "No Nonsense Guarantee" which unconditionally gives refunds. I have called Customer Service MANY times over SEVERAL months, always getting the polite answer that it would be taken care of that day. We actually sent the crane back at our own expense (they promised to repay us), and it was received over a month ago, but no refund has showed up. I hope this review will help other people from getting "taken" by this untrustworthy, unreliable, and ripoff of a business!

When I saw a pending 14.95 Amex charge I called them as I had no clue what it was. Fortunately they had a call center that picked up late at night and I spoke with Erica, a very patient representative. Apparently I have been a MEMBER for 4 months. She credited back the 4 months of charges and CANCELED my subscription. WOW, how do these scams worm their way into your life? Check your charges monthly, i guess these days its no surprise you will find someone robbing you.
I try to be careful and purchase from reputable sites. Ive learned the hard way never to buy from those 'pop-up' ads. I clearly let my guard down here looking for Christmas gifts.
Answer: You can order from them but don't expect to be able to cancel or return any items. Can find a lot of the items in their catalog for less else where
