I've ran hundreds of accounts since 2005. No account is safe unless you spend a lot. Just think about that business model. Customer service, especially the india branch is clueless and know less about the platform than most users. Sadly because they have no real competition, any online business is stuck with them.

I thought I was spending a maximum of $50, but they charged $350 before I knew it.
No phone support at all in the USA. First call to complain went somewhere that didn't know anything about adwords, and wouldn't even tell me who else to call. Next call went to someone who refused to do anything, and refused to connect me to anyone else until I repeated myself ten times. Eventually someone else took my complaint, but changed nothing and never responded again.

A month later, they billed be for another $31.56 without explanation, and no way to respond. They threatened to send me to a collection agency.
Final insult and injury: The email said I could pay in installments, but as soon as I clicked PAY, the charged the full amount with no chance confirm or to enter another amount.

Don't use google ads
January 29, 2021

Using Google ads has always been terrible for me. The first time I got Google ads was a couple of months ago and they suspended my account immediately for I don't know what. I ended up just signing up with a different email and I was able to use the Google ads account again so if you get suspended you can just disregard that and make a new email. So I had a new account and was trying to promote my YouTube channel I was assigned a Google ad specialist and the specialist told me to set my budget to $20 a day I felt really uncomfortable with that because I can't afford that but I did it anyways. A couple days later I get a message from that rep saying that he can no longer help me because I set my budget to 9 dollars a day. I end up getting a charge of $27 which I'm like OK that was after a couple days I look at my views and impressions and it showed zero so I couldn't go off of like what I was charged. Customer Service with Google ads is really terrible they will hang up on you not explain anything to you and leave you hanging. This is seriously so disgusting in every way that a company would actually treat customers like that. Every time you ask questions or even decide to look into your account more they will automatically hang up on you. This entire experience with Google ads as really rub me the wrong way. If you do one wrong little move you can be charged a whole lot and they will not refund you nor speak to you on the matter. Please stay away from this site and if you decide to go with it just understand that you will be hung up on if a problem arises. I was charged $27 within a couple of days and have no idea what the charges were because my views and impressions said zero. I got a bad taste in my mouth and ended up deleting my campaign and I will not be signing back into Google ads ever again. The fact that these foreign people from the Philippines answer the phones and then hang up on you is literally disgusting. I ended up paying up to $27 but I do feel that Google ads is dishonest and they just randomly charge people what they want. Another thing I wanted to bring up is that Google ad specialist who emailed me was looking through my account and I'm not even sure if that's legal since I wasn't even on the phone with him for him to be able to do that nor do I give the person permission to look at my account without me being on the phone. He saw that I changed my account to nine dollars a day instead of 20 and that was a couple days later so I got really creeped out by that and felt like it was an invasion of privacy. Attached below is an email I got from the rep saying that I can no longer be helped. The worst thing about this company for me was the customer service and the lack of help that they don't offer.

First timers beware
January 15, 2021

I'm writing this because if you are considering using adwords and you are doing it on your own and blind with the intent of being successful you are making a huge mistake. Let me tell you why.
I started using adwords about 8 years ago and learned how to do it myself. Back then there were fewer pitfalls that could cost you thousands. Today there are even more. Adwords produced 3.5B in revenue for Google lasy year and they want even more. When you set up your account there are certain default settings that you need to understand. For example - create an add and go live without selecting target locations and your ad goes GLOBAL. I lost 789 bucks in 10minutes because of this mistake. It's wrong and google will never ever refund your money for any reasons like this. Another thing is that when you set up your daily budget, it is not a daily spend stop. It used to be, but not anymore - you tell me why. The way it is done now is that they multiply the days of the month times your daily budget and spend up to that amount each month whether its spent in a day or lasts the entire month. Fine you say... I'll just set my budget to 5 dollars a day so I never spend more than 150 bucks a day... well, they have you trapped. Your ad will never shoe because it will have what they call a "low ad rank" - a 5 dollar a day budget will never buy you the space at the top of the page.
It's bordering on criminal and they get away with it because, well, they are google and they monopolized the internet with their products and services.
Don't be naive - pay for an expert to set you up
Hope this helps

They charge hundreds of dollars for inadequate service that does f"ck all in terms of driving traffic and increasing awareness of our business. When we complained (several times in fact) via complaints forms and supervisors etc (who seem to be the same people that administered our ads in the first place) nothing was done except threats to pay or they would cancel our account. Great job google. You have an A1 rating for theft and deceit. You have no recourse with this business. When they do the wrong thing, they will still take your money and you still dont have a name or a face to sue. Stay away!

I had my business advertise with them and they did not run my ads because it was in violation of policy, they did not show my ad in google search and yet still charging me for thousands of dollars for some godxxx service they don't provide. These MF will not give you you fund and you can't call them. Only email them and wait for them to call you back, sometime it took weeks for them to response.

IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO STAR REVIEW - I WOULD. I am able to prove 200%+ that the two different credit cards I am trying to use are MY cards. I have put a request for an appeals cases, the Google Ad reps are unprofessional, give you bland answers and don't seem to care whether or not they have your business. One company I represent is a Marriott Hotel. We have our emails through Gmail hosting and pay $350+ a month for hosting and they say the credit card payment is suspicious on Google Ad Words yet have no problem charging it monthly for our Gsuite Account. Go figure. The second account is a Roofing Company, domain registered in my name, ad vouchers purchased through WIX.com a reputable website building company and the credit card, yet again MINE. They just keep saying we've appealed and your account will remain suspended offering ZERO assistance on WHY. I can understand his for suspicious activity however I am A REAL PERSON, WITH A REAL GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID THAT CAN VERIFY MY IDENTITY AND I REPRESENT TWO LEGITIMATE COMPANIES. Not sure how Google is so big when they treat loyal customers this way.

Disturbing and incompetent takedown of my harmless ads presenting of music videos composed by myself. The policy reasonse:
1. Russia - how did russia get involved in taking down US music sites?
2. Trademark use of the text "white whale" to describe the whale in Moby $#*!
3. Event ticket sales - I have no events of any kind connected with the site.
Avoid this Google Ads like the plague. They can take down a site you worked hard for without
Warning and can't give a good reason why.

I've been with Google AdWords for over 12 years. During that time I have seen them throttle my impressions from thousands to hundreds. They've indicated to me that it's algorithms that do this. Yes it is algorithms controlled and intentionally done by them. My 12 years of records show it's greed on their part, they just want you to pay more as the throttle down your impressions. I hope the American government has the balls to break them up. They really don't give a $hit about America and they promote hatred, riots, protests and division.

I took out a Google Ad in May. I had some issues and so e mailed a Google representative who had previously e mailed me and who didn't respond. I got an automated e mail from Google saying that I hadn't finished setting up the ad. As I hadn't heard from the Google representative and I was fed up with the whole process, I left it thinking that because it was inactive. 6 weeks later I got a bill for £150. I challenged this outcome but my complaints were dismissed. Oddly, I never saw an advert for my business and neither has any of the people I have asked.

UNBELIEVABLE.
July 22, 2020

I have had to call this company FIVE TIMES after REPEATEDLY being hung up on! I've NEVER EVER EVER experienced customer service this terrible in MY LIFE. I run a branding and marketing agency. My Google Ad account got shut down for "suspicious payments" which makes no sense whatsoever, they provided no detail, and are refusing to help. My livelihood depends on this. I get on the phone with them to happily troubleshoot, and they tell me to contact their "live chat" and I can get response within a 3-5 business days and very possibly more. Every time I try to ask a question to get ANY idea what's going on, or to get ANY kind of help, they hang up the phone in an ugly and RUDE manner. Despicable service. To know my livelihood might depend on this "team" really leaves me questioning things. I'M BEYOND DISGUSTED.

Do the simple math.
Google Local $240.00 for the week
$240 (My Budget) ÷7 days in a week = $34.68 a day
$34.28*2 only 48 hours with this amount =$68.56 in 48 hours used...
$68.56 + 65 for AdWords per day. *(2) =$130
So $130+ $68.56 =$198.56 is what I should of spent not $500 in 48 hours now give me back my $ or I will file a claim with my bank to dispute these charges. Also I will contact the FBI. (FCC)
Anyone else experiencing these fraudulent charges and less than 48 hours. Don't get me wrong I'm used to paying $5 a week with Google local and AdWords combined. Google you guys need to stop wake up...

Horrible customer service
February 28, 2020

I was spending money on ads with them every month and then by mistake I kicked myself out of the account. I was trying to remove access to my account by another agency that I was currently not using. First of all, how can I even remove myself from the account if I am the actual owner of the account.
And after I did that mistake. I had to call and email multiple times and every re told me other instructions.
Nobody knows what's going on. I asked to speak to the manager and he didn't know anything more than the other reps... they have no idea what the correct procedures are. They told me steps to take and then another person called me after a few days and told me it was wrong advice!
So I wasted hours on the phone for nothing. And my account is inactive for over a week. So far it's not restored yet. I'm just so frustrated with them..

Google has a policy: Advertising your product AFTER someone googled it. And most of the time AFTER it was relevant. Generally they keep doing this for about two weeks. So almost all of your showings are annoying or irritating for your prospects instead of bringing in sales. Its one of the biggest ripoffs ever, because thy do it with all advertisers. Stay away, don't waste your budget.

We've advertised with Goggle Ads(words) for (7) years and proudly have over 300 five star client ratings between Google & YELP reviews. Recently, Google has proven to be more powerful than our US Federal Gov't and disavows any Federal government vendor Service Agreements and/or Official Registrations. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of competitive and effective alternatives right now for on-line advertisement services, yet! Google deems any business working with a government entity as "sale of free items" based on their narrow, and ill informed view that you can get it for free without a professional service. So, for example, if you live in Nebraska, where no National Passport Agency exists and have an emergency needing to expedite your passport whether for family or business purposes, you are expected to drive out-of-state to a National Passport Agency to appear in person (sound free yet?). There are only 26 regional walk-in passports within the U.S. and there are professionally registered companies to expedite your passport so you can focus on your family or company business (still no idea of the free idea, yet let alone the liability if you're a business). Here is the final poke-in-the-eye, GOOGLE contracts with a professional Passport & Visa service for their employees but will not allow the general public or other companies the advantage of doing the same by not being able to advertise a professional federally registered company to assist them. They refuse to acknowledge a government formal registration as an authorized agent even with the documentation! Good for thou but not for thee! -- GO ELSEWHERE. Their ethics exist in a bubble. They blame their Artificial Intelligence Interface, as though they didn't write it. Tried for several months to resolve with no success. They don't care. They are too big. They need competition.

Scumbags
November 29, 2019

Within the past week, I've been receiving harassing emails from a collections manager, demanding payment for a so-called "outstanding" balance of £38.62 on my Google AdWords account.

I haven't used that account for a very long time and the last time I've checked on that account, the balance was exactly £0.00.

The only activity I've had with Google Ads is using an £80 voucher credit for £40 worth of ads, which said credit has been spent to cover the initial £40 worth of ads and the £40 extra, which I've spent carefully to send the balance back to £0.00. After that, I did not use this service any further.

Now, they are chasing me for a bill that never exists and threatening court action if I do not pay. I did respond to one of the emails mentioning the above statement, but the only thing I received back was the same threatening, harassing email.

I can now say this without question: Google Ads is a scumbag company.
