My computer screen suddenly locked, a loud beeping noise wouldn't stop, there were various messages on screen, an audible warning to ring Microsoft for help and an 0800 phone number. As my computer wouldn't do anything, I phoned the number, The line was crackly but the man said he was a Microsoft engineer. He told me to press various keys and was quite confusing. He wanted me to allow access to the camera and I said no and put the phone down. He phoned back, twice, each time from a different number, each time crackly. I phoned Ask-Crew for help and quietly and calmly I was talked through checking my computer and checking everything was alright on it. It was. It was a scary experience as the fake engineer told me my computer would totally lock up if I didn't do what he was asking. So thankful to Ask-Crew for their help.
