Being an audio book fan, I decided to give Audible Premium Plus a try. This is their Top-Tier subscription for $14.99 per month. For this, you receive 1 credit a month and access to their Pemium Plus catalog of 73k Free, No Credit Needed, No Purchase Needed, o credit, titles. Sounds good, right? Think again. I don't think that I need to do much more than give this example:
Being a John Grisholm fan, I search his name in Audible. Keep in mind, John Grisham is the "author of forty-seven consecutive #1 bestsellers, which have been translated into nearly fifty languages." All of his books on Audible cost 1 Credit. And, the titles available for your Premium Plus, $14.99 per month, Free, No Credit, No Purchase Necessary Subscription? Two! Yes, you read that right -- two, t-w-o. It gets even better, those two are extremely obscure, out-dated novels. I find it utterly unbelievable that Audible charges 14.99 per month for Premium Plus and offers two out of Grisholm's 47, international, best sellers. Search their Premium Plus Free catalog for any of your favorite authors and see how many of their titles are offered free. For this audiobook fan, it's a major disappointment and a "No Go." There are other options including, among others, other audio booksites, free audiobook checkout from my well-stocked public library ir purchasing at my local, massive used bookstore.###
BEWARE! My 3 month trial wasn't over and they charged my card! And then you can't cancel in the Audible or the Amazon app - you have to call.
I listened to maybe 4 or 5 books a month so I'm not a heavy user, this complaint is something I just recently noticed, on the phone app as I scroll through audio books as I get to the bottom and swipe up for the next page the previous page that I just looked at disappears replaced with different books, not the ones I just searched so if I see a book that I want to come back to and checkout i can't because that page disappears replaced by new books now if I am mildly interested I have to open the book to check it out, it's super time consuming because a lot of these books I'm not going to want to purchase, other phone apps that are like this I just won't use, but I like audible, just wish they could fix this or let me know what I can do to fix this.
I've called multiple times to cancel, they state must go to Google Play & it's not located in my subscriptions. The sure do locate my credit card every f-ing month stuck in f-ing twilight zone of never ending membership...
Confusing to actually navigate and use through their site- plus you lose your purchase if not used right away. I finally sat down to try once again to activate one of the books I purchased and it's gone - expired. I won't waste money or time here again for sure!
Amazon makes it almost impossible to cancel audible. If you go into your Amazon account and go to subscriptions, you'll see that all of the other subscriptions are easy to cancel.
However, for audible, there is no cancel this membership button. They also do not tell you that you have to go to audible.com in order to cancel. You'll learn this when you try to call customer service to cancel.
Then you go to audible.com and they make you do this OTP nonsense where you'll never received the password so you won't be able to login and you won't be able to cancel. This is so unlike Amazon and it really needs to be fixed. I feel like audible is paying for the gas on Jeff Bezos is $500 million yacht.
Beware: when you quit your monthly member if you don't use your credit that you paid for the take it away. You lose it. Amazon is basically stealing your money. Also I bought a book. When I finally went to listen to it a few months later they locked it. I have to to buy it. They are a company of thieves. It is call stealing, yet they get away with it.
Their system is deliberately obtuse…requiring a ridiculous amount of time just to find your purchase history. Their samples are insanely short…it's impossible to judge how you will like a book, unlike amazon which gives you a decent "sample". THEN…try to return it…god help you if you've just returned another book because the narration was impossible to understand or you decided it was just boring. My requests for returns has been rejected several times, even though I had just purchased the book. Infuriating! I am taking this up with AMAZON. Audible is not a good provider—BEWARE!
EXTREMELY unhappy with Audible! I signed up for the free trial of Audible Plus because the LIARS said they had four books I wanted and I figured I could get through four in a month. NONE of the four are available in Audible Plus! I immediately unsubscribed, literally minutes after subscribing, and tried to subscribe to the Audible Premium Plus free trial to see if I could still listen to the books, but was ineligible as I had already "had" a free trial. Now the only way to get these books is to PAY for a subscription because these fools did not make it clear what was and was not available! They are obviously deceptive thinking they'll fool people into buying subscriptions. These are 60+-year-old books, not current bestsellers, so if these are not even available, what few pathetic choices are?
I made a book purchase in an Amazon store 12 months ago and was unknowingly and unwillingly signed up for a pay per month membership. The store clerk never explained that I had to cancel the membership after the trial period and Audible used my Amazon payment card to charge my account $14.99 per month for 12 months. I only recently detected it and called customer services. They cancelled my membership and offered me a refund for 6 months membership but not the full amount. These methods are borderline fraudulent and should be banned. It reflects badly on Audible and Amazon to use tricks to enroll people and quietly charge your credit card (NOTE: I did not provide Audible with my payment details, they stole it from Amazon without consent). Shame on Audible and shame on Amazon.
I've been an audiobook publisher on Audible for a while. They have withheld royalties, given inaccurate numbers, lied about promo codes, mercilessly closed down accounts, refused payments, and done everything a multibillion dollar corporation should NOT be getting away with when exploiting the publishers who provide the content for their website. When you know this, do you really want to give these scumbags your money? I'm not the only one. Thousands of authors and narrators have the same complaints: ACX/Audible behaves like a cruel dictator, abusing their near-monopoly position.
I purchased a trial membership which I cancelled in February 2023. Audible has continued to bill me $21 CAN for a membership I no longer have. I have reached out to customer service to no avail. Please audible stop billing me for a service I have never used.
As a retired professional, I am very disappointed in the Audible reps and their Manager Audrey. I have a severe sight problem thus wanted to subscribe to Audible. As a Prime member and Amazon stockholder I thought there would be no problems After placing an order using my Amazon Prime CC I received an email that my charge was declined. Strangely, enough I just placed an Amazon order with no problem and knew this was an error on Audible's part. Don't count on professional, kind, caring customer service if you have a problem with Audible. I contacted them twice via chat. The first time I was lied to and told that this was an Audible error and it was taken care of. This was a lie. The second time I was told that " my bank refused the charge " this was another lie so I asked for a supervisor, Audrey, who was rude and too lazy to delve into the matter further. She told me to check my Amazon Prime CC for the expiration date which I did and I shared with her it was fine. She argued with me and said to get the card as I only had the statement and Amazon account in sight. The result is my cancellation of the Audible subscription.
I advise Audible to hire the proper customer service folks before my AMZ stock value tanks because of their unprofessionalism and advise folks to beware.
So first off you own nothing when you purchase from Audible. Amazon keep everything for itself. Books cannot be downloaded and used with another app. Hence, Amazon still owns everything.
Paid for membership monthly for years. Continually had issues with downloading. Unexpectedly hacked and needed to update my info to continue membership. Passed around and 4months later I finally just cancelled. All the titles I paid for are now unavailable. I paid for them! Nobody has been willing to assist me. Didn't want to cancel just update my info. Was repeatedly told by answering service in other countries that it was handled and also I needed to speak with Amazon. Received contact from Amazon asking for my social security number. Never provided this in the first place and not about to. Total scam. So now I'm out $100's for my membership and cut off from titles I PAID FOR! Total sham. Screw Audible and screw Amazon. What a $#*! show
I just called Audible twice to return some books. It took 15 minutes to go through the first time and after I told Sean, the operator, that I wanted to return some books the conversation was suddenly terminated! The second call with Ken ended up in not returning any books because he told me that I can not return books with the account that I have! I have been buying and returning books for years with Audible! Am simply disgusted.
Called to see why I'm being charged on my account and not receiving credits.
Your customer service agent asked me to verify my address I did not, for security purposes (you can hear me say that on the call)
Your operator puts me on hold only to click back in and have someone laughing in the background I asked for a supervisor your customer service agent then hung up on me
Audible is very unprofessional not only with their paying customers but also with our private information
Very respectful to hang up on your paying customers
Would never in my life use this platform again
You would have got 0 stars but it forces me to put at least one
They monitor how many books you can return. I've been a member for over 7 years & I have to call them to return books & some they say are too old, so where is the guarantee? I'm thinking of canceling my membership. There are too many free audio books out there to keep giving them my monthly membership fee.
I own 67 titles, After the latest updates the app continually shut it's self off in the middle of listening was told there's no way to fix it. I've contacted audible before they told me to uninstall and reinstall books which I've done and then they told me to uninstall and install the app which I've done and now they've taken to just Ignoring me as this issue is ongoing and unresolvable.
Answer: I've had the same problem, they charge me from the US AND Australia so I can't even cancel cos no access to these sites. If you manage to contact them, they should refund you
Answer: Not not a clue but they refunded me all the money back they took out my back so alls good
