The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

Was linked to booking.com through trivago.co.uk when booking a hotel in london. The websites auto-filled the dates (why?! You don't know when I'm travelling so why suggest dates!) and as such I made a mistake and booked for a night nearly 4 weeks later than required. I admit, this was my mistake and a very dumb one at that. However, on trying to cancel the booking, booking.com pointed out their policy of having to pay extra for the booking to be able to cancel, and told me that the hotel were unwilling to cancel the booking. I very much doubt that booking.com even contacted the hotel to cancel the booking, seeing as they will be getting a percentage of the booking fee!
A useful site to see which hotels have vacancies, but I suggest contacting hotels directly before resorting to booking through this site as customer service is extremely poor.
Booking.com is in the business of making money. Their customer service talk sweet but they do nothing for the customer. In a trip to Florida, I booked 2 rooms in a "3 star" hotel according to "their" classifications. The hotel name was "Hollywood beach Hotels". The "3 star" hotel beds had hair, hair clips, blood clots, freezer dripping melted ice on the floor, coffee in the coffee maker, dirty baths and showers, to name a few. We called Booking.com and informed them that we are leaving and checked out of the hotel. The hotel charged us for 4 night stay and 4 days of parking! Booking.com is claiming now that we did not check out and it is OK for the hotel to charge us over $1300 for the 4 nights! They know it and they were called and informed by our decision to leave the hotel that night. Yes, you can be robbed legally in the "civilized" world.
Great site that is very customer service oriented. Never had an issue with them yet.
Just read the policies prior to booking and these problems you are having wont happen
Total FRAUD! Did you know that Booking.com charges hotels 15% commission + tax?... nd that is not all... TO RECOMMEND A HOTEL WITH THE "THUMB UP RECOMMENDATION LOGO" THEY CHARGE HOTELS AN ADDITIONAL 2%! SO 17% OF WHAT YOU PAY, PLUS VAT GOES DIRECTLY INTO BOOKING.COM POCKET! SO REGARDLESS OF YOUR PERFORMANCE AS A HOTEL IF YOU PAY 2% MORE YOU ARE A RECOMMENDED HOTEL!
I use booking.com all the time. I love it. Especially, the option of cancelling a booking without penalties. They usually have a picture of the exact room that you'll be staying in as well.
I have used this site many times without problems. Accommodation that I booked have always been comfortable and for good price. Staff was nice and helpful. Although sometimes there were little bit difference between picture on the site and reality, it was always quiet good. I would recommend this site also to other travelers.
Booking. Com is a fraud... best to be used as reference but, do not book with them. They do not stand behind their customers. Best to book with the hotel directly
I had a bad experience at a hotel I booked through booking.com. The hotel location was bad, and the owner was a person who disparaged Americans, accused us of something we did not do, and tried to shame us. We are polite experienced travelers who are used to being treated in a polite and welcoming way. Anyway, booking.com refused to publish our review, even though it was within their guidelines. What appeared was a rating, but no comments. I will not be using booking.com again.
I booked several hotels on booking.com for a European trip I am taking in June. All of that went smoothly. The very next day though I received a fraud alert from my card company. 3 strange charges, including a dating site charge and an online computer purchase, showed up on my card. The card company cancelled my card and is issuing a new one. I can honestly say I am very skeptical of the security of this site.
I booked hotels with booking.com many times and everytime everything was perfect. Hotel prices on booking.com are even cheaper than if you would pay directly at the hotel. The site offers hotels from all around the world, you will find there hotel reviews, prices, photos and everything you need to know about your hotel. And it's so easy to book even for such a beginner as I am. But I agree with some people above, better avoid paying with credit card, I use 3V :)
Using this site for years. They provide all information. Excellent trustworthy reviews, pictures and all you need to know about the hotel you are booking. They have some excellent deals, and most deals you can cancel or amend even 1 day before. Prices are usually the lowest on the net. No booking fees etc. Excellent customer support-if ever needed..
Really useful tool, I recently did a raod trip across Europe and this website allowed me to find prices for hotels in every city along the route.
I booked and managed all our hotels through them, their prices are 9 times out of 10 cheaper than booking with the hotel direct.
Their site also lists some of the attractions at your destination, so you can start planning your free time.
When a reservation is made through booking.com the hotel receives a fax with all the guest's personal data including: first name, last name, address, credit card number, expiration date, and cvc code. This paper copy of the reservation is the only copy which holds the credit card info. This is a major security risk... considering that the faxes are printed... anyone can read it... but above all... once the guest leaves what happens to this sheet of paper! In this day and age why doesn't booking.com keep this very sensitive information under lock and key via a login and password?
Very large European travel booking site; very easy to use; with the great advantage that it offers all the usual accommodation options but also quite a number of smaller and special options - recommended
Used Booking.com and booked "New Harbour Service Apartments" in Shanghai, China. When we checked out, the hotel charged extra 15% on top of the room price! I asked the hotel staff to call Booking.com's service number and was told that phone number printed on the confirmation form was not valid. Talked to Booking.com after arriving home Booking.com took the hotel's side -- only when we checked out, did we learn that the hotel room price is subject to extra 15% service fee. What an honest business! I suggest people avoid Booking.com.
Made a hotel booking. Canceled it coz i didnt get a visa to cyprus. Havent got the refund money yet.
Do not book with this company as when you arrive at your accomodation your bookings will of been cancelled as this website takes your money and does not pass it on to the hotels be very very aware of this as it has been happening to a lot of people as as this awful company is not registered in the uk trading standards cannot do anything it is a scam
Yeah useful - Used this a few wks ago lots of reviews for anywhere u wanna stay, makes finding a hotal easy
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
