My cell phone had terrible reception. After years of playing my bill on time, I finally decided to switch carriers. I contacted consumer cellular and then the night mare happened. After numerous calls hours and hours weeks and weeks. I was only able to get one phone to work. As of today my wives and sons phone don't work. And they keep billing me for my account that I'm trying to cancel. The new phone carrier said it's taken 3 months to fix accounts. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS.
Called & reported problem. Gaby did not understand. I repeated it again.
She finally got it & still needed to do checkin. You want a photo but hitting the link won't let me go to my photos. Your service combined with you gipping me when I called in to stop my data plan results in this poor review. Your service agent said I had to go from lowest data to highest rate and I couldn't stop in between--fraud.
This proves why your satisfaction rate IS 1.9% and your advertising is a laughable scam just like the actors, grinning from ear to ear.
It's really hit-or-miss with their representatives, as if they have no (or very poor) QA/QC on who they hire to help customers. I recently updated the SIM card on my cell phone and discovered that I could no longer call Canada. So I had to call their reps three times to finally get the issue fixed. The first one gave me bad advice that didn't work (She told me to dial 011 first even though I told her that before updating the SIM card I never needed to do that and was able to call Canada. But she insisted that was the solution.) Then I called again and the second representative hung up on me in the middle of the call and didn't bother calling me back (It should be easy enough since she had my name and number.) Finally after wasting so much time the third rep was able to help me and fixed the issue. Unfortunately this was not a one-off incident with them, as similar issues have occurred in the past. I will be switching to another phone company
I do not usually write reviews, but I had to let off some steam. I purchased a consumer cellular Nokia 400 phone less than a year ago along with their $20 a month plan, as I do not use the phone much. Their advertisements sounded great. Boy was that a mistake! The $20 plan is actually over $27, as they blame the difference on taxes, 35%? Their big AARP discount is 5% or One dollar. The plan includes only one g.b. Of data. If you should go over that minuscule amount. They hit you with substantial charges. Of course, I could get their $ 50-a-month plan before taxes and get unlimited talk, text, and data.
When I tried to return the phone within their return time period, they said this only applies to new customers, Apparently I had a consumer cellular account SEVEN years ago and was not considered a new customer. I can not even bring my phone to another carrier as the several I contacted did not accept my phone. Even consumer cellular would not take their/my phone as a trade-in. As I subsequently, found there are several other carriers offering plans for about a true $30 a month.
Can you moan anymore up the stairs, giggle, your minute was 10 secs, your financial dept doesn't know aarp, where do I end this joke, robot man?
Voice to text or email. Extremely Bad. Takes forever and misspells Most of the time. If you use your phone for Facebook, texting or emailing. Choose another Carrier. You get what you paid for.
I closed my account with Consumer Cellular. I asked the agent how much I need to pay to wrap up and close this account for good. He told me the amount and I paid it. Now 30 days later I received a bill for a phone and a number that I no longer have...and they include a late fee without even sending me an earlier invoice. This company is shady and I suggest that you look elsewhere when getting plan. The phone service wasn't that great anyway; unless you like dropped calls.
Consumer cellular is a awful company they take advantage of the elderly and family who pays their cell phone bills. They were willing to let me or " qualify" me for ez pay for a $700 galaxy phone got myself but not to buy my mom a new cell after I had been thru 3 flip phones with her. Poor quality. The new flip was going to be $80. They refused to let me bundle and use ez pay for my moms new phone also claims I had to pay for a cheap flip out right. I don't get it. Spoke with super sharoya who I made clear I was cancelling service and auto pay. I even call my bank to remove them. They used a different name of consumer cell to remove my last bill for my 80 ye old mother with Alzheimer's. Now pro rating another $8 for service and the phone wasn't even working it literally blew up. I'm not paying for service when the phone was broken. Give me a break. I just spoke with them now to demand to be off auto pay. They want their $8 for a bill that doesn't come out till sept 10. They have lost their minds. I will guarantee no one being me or family or anyone I know will ever use consumer cellular. Ur a rip off claiming to help the elderly. Only that have money
Because my first cell phone from them had popped open. I decided to order another phone. I called & the person I spoke to for activating my new phone not only disconnected me but now I get a message "cellular service not available" on my old phone. Online chat "not available". I could give them my phone number for a link but I don't text. So I am totally w/o phone service. Oh and their email address brings you to the name site for texting. I am sooo sorry I am with this company.
They used to be good; now it is really, really terrible.
Looking to switch my service ASAP.
If you use your phone a lot consumer cellular is not good enough. Even simple problems seem impossible for CC to solve.
FOR 3 MONTHS KEPT SENDING BILL TO WRONG ADDRESS KEPT CALLING AND THOUGHT WE FIX FOR MY 81 YR OLD MOTHER WHO IS HANDICAP AND NEEDS A PHONE ON YHE 4 TH MONTH THEY TURNED IT OFF FOR NOT PAYING BILL WAS SENT AGAIN TO WRONG ADDRESS. SENIORS FIND ANOTHER COMPANY WHO ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.WORST EXPERIENCE WITH ANY PHONE COMPANY
I've been with this company for years...I always rated them with 5 stars...the customer service are always nice to help me... I've been paying my bill with my visa Debit card for 3yrs...I tried to pay,and they declined my card...WHY? No one could explain to me why...Very frustrated
AFTER CANCELLING my SERVICE THEY STILL BILLED my Account for months. NOT worth the price. Customer service sucks. Even my BANK called and they said I never cancelled service,
When you use up your "unlimited data" it throttles down so much that it stops working. So I paid for a month of service that only worked for two weeks. After two years of putting up with it, one month the speed was never turned back on and I told them I was not paying for service I did not get. While talking to there billing department about it, the person made a snide remark and hung up on me. Three days later, my phone was shut off. With health issues, I went right out and signed up with another carrier. They billed me for two months after the phone was shut off. This is out and out fraud. I'm still working on my refund and their accountability for the problems they have caused. Reading other reviews, this has happened to other people also.
The Television Commercial that currently airs on Television. Is quite foolish. With all that clowning around they do. Totally useless.
This company, Consumer Cellular has been the worst I have ever experienced, from charging extra monies for fake internet usage to shutting off my phone for a
Two hundred dollar debt incurred by another individual with a similar name. This company should be shut down, they are big crooks preying on the elderly.
Service was requested to be cancelled. Bill arrived. Was paid. They sent a late fee. Then another late fee. And another. A late fee for the late fee for a cancelled service for an elderly user. Never ending fees on top of fees. The initial late fee was paid. But then they continued to send more accruing "late" fees for 6 months. A late fee for payment of a "late" fee? This should be illegal! Taking advantage of seniors who feel compelled to pay any bill received
Since 3G was phasing out, I got new phone. Didn't need latest, greatest phone. Got Samsang 23 at reasonable price. Customer Service helped w set up. Love the low monthly price!
I've been a user and believer in CC for many years. That has changed recently with their new SIM card. It saw my reception and bars halved. Frequent calls to Customer Service resulted in some attempted fixes and other surly, unpleasant agents. I think I'll try TMobile. I checked Verizon and their prices are ridiculous.
