I purchased iPhone from you, since day one the Sound is lousy now calls in goes to answer without ringing. Spent morning speaking with four customer service reps to no avail Consumer Cellular Customer service is terrible Stay away
I have paid for an unlimited cellular data plan from consumer cellular for years, just so if the regular cable internet was down, using less than half a gig a month.
A storm came through last Sunday and all the power poles came down. Internet out, no est date of restore.
And consumer Cell cut my internet off cold at 2200 Friday for Excess Usage, and sent a text for a number that won't be answered by a human for twelve hours.
They lie.
If I could I would rate as zero. No cancel fee! What a lie, charging seniors a fee 149. I will sue.
Why are they threatening collections on a no contract cell service when you decide to cancel the service because your elderly mother is in hospice care and she don't know what a cell phone is or planet she's on at this piont but they keep hounding and threatening they're un real what a joke this was a no contract service that we tried and when she got to the piont she's in we canceled her service and Consumer Cellar didn't like that so beware
Tried to port my number from Verizon Wireless. Over the course of 7 days, I spoke to 9 customer service reps, 2 supervisors, and 3 tech support people. I've taken 2 trips to Target and tried 3 different SIM cards, and for whatever reason, they can't activate my phone despite proving its unlocked and compatible with Consumer Cellular. Now I'm stuck with an expensive hand ornament. Adding insult to injury, I recieved a $93 bill for services not rendered, and charged $20 for 2 SIM cards that didn't work. Going back to Verizon where at least they know what they're doing. Consumer cellular might be cheaper, but it's not worth it. Don't make the same mistake.
My phone was obsolete when the 5G went into use. I've tried for six days to get help. So many rules they offer and give no help whatsoever. Multiple calls/multiple days...Total frustration I feel.
I'll never recommend the use of Consumer Cellular. The TV ads are outright lies, I feel.
The last supervisor I spoke with had an attitude of "You switched carriers and I don't care to help you."
Day four there was a Sarah who was most helpful. Avoid this company. Great ads until you need assistance.
Customer service has gone downhill dramatically in the last few years. I just purchased a new phone thru them. I told the rep I wanted to order a new charger because the one I currently have might not fit. What she sent me was a cord--nothing more. No way to plug the cord into the wall. I had to make one phone call to find out I didn't have what I needed, and I had to order it myself through Amazon. Then I read instructions that tell me to insert a sim card, but no sim card was included. I have to call again to find out there is NO physical sim card, it has an e-sim, but nobody sent me the link to the QR code to activate that. So then they have to send that out. I call again to complain about how this was handled, and I get a rude SOB on the phone who talks down to me and tells me it's written on the box that there is no charger AS BIG AS LIFE. Guess what, you moron? I don't need to read it when I open the box, I NEED TO KNOW IN ADVANCE THAT I HAVE TO ORDER IT. Finally, I call to register a complaint about all of this mess, and I get a supervisor who insists that the person who set up my order told me what I needed to know. Excuse me, NO, SHE DID NOT. She never told me that she was sending ONLY a cord, and not the piece it's inserted into it that plugs into the wall in order to actually charge your phone. The supervisor also spoke down to me, as if I was supposed to automatically understand what her employees were saying even tho I have no idea what their verbiage means. She then made it even worse by telling me she can send me a different phone that has what I need. Umm, hey, dum dum, I have been telling you all along that I already ordered the charging pieces from Amazon, NOW THAT I KNOW I NEED THEM. If you fools had told me that to begin with, I could have placed the order immediately as soon as my phone was ordered. I told her that all she accomplished was upsetting me more, and now I'm going to call around and get pricing from other carriers. GOODBYE!
I made the mistake of purchasing a phone from them, they told me I would use e Sim, not a sim card... nothing but dropped calls and people can't hear me! Now they said I need a sim card, they are sending one out, I'm 74 years old and feel ripped off!
I bought phone and insurance for my mentally challenged brother and it is now not working and he insurance company has approved my claim to get him a new phone but consumer cellular and Allstate can't seem to communicate the approval so no one is sending us a new phone. I pay my bill automatically every month and pay for insurance but the two companies can't figure out how to approve a new phone and it is now my problem. Plus when you call they hang up on you - $#*!ty service. I will be leaving reviews every day until I get a new phone for my brother.
I got this phone for my now dead uncle who died suddenly and I contacted this scamming company and was shock that I have to pay for 3 months more service even though I stop my service this has never happened with the major carriers but these scam airtst are I have sent a complaint to the justice department to start a investigation
Best move I have made in years. I do believe the negative reviews are by competitors. I am a Nurse and I am always on call. I trust Consumer Cellular and have never had a problem in many years. Make your own decision.
They don't give a s,,, about you.they don't care, they won't communicate with you unless you want to give them more money.so I would not recommend them to anyone.plus the service sucks
I couldn't figure out how I used so much data. No games. Only phone and text and gone over my limit a few time. Finally after 6 years someone told me that iPhones - iMessage and counted as data. SMS messages are free. BUT THEY sell iPhones and say free text!
Consumer Cellular's rate may be low, but it is built around the principle of automatic monthly deduction. You are penalized $5 every month (not a small amount for a struggling senior) if you do not allow them to come into your bank account at a certain date and take their monthly payment. Their agents will even argue with you about use of the word "penalty," which it most certainly is. I let no entity come into my bank account as if they were entitled to it that day, no questions asked. If the money is not there they will send your account into overdraft. A senior who watches her budget carefully has to manage payments on a daily basis to make sure all vendors are paid on time. They also refused to let me pay monthly for a new device until I had built a 6 month payment history with them. What about the 50 years of payment history and my credit record? Doesn't that count for anything. Straight mercenaries...
I have used Consumer Cellular for the past three years. They tricked me into getting a new SIM card from them, which was offered for free when I paid my last bill online. They purposely did not explain that they stopped using T-mobile's network, and if I have a phone from T-mobile (which I have had the entire three years), that their new SIM card would not work. I installed the SIM card on Friday, 5/19/23. My phone no longer worked.
I called Consumer Cellular from my work phone line on the same day and spoke with three people, two were supervisors. After they explained they don't use T-mobile any longer, I asked why there wasn't a disclaimer with the new SIM about this? They didn't have an answer. I also asked why I wasn't sent an email, letter, text explaining that they don't use T-mobile any longer? They didn't have an answer. I asked if I could just use the previous SIM card? They said, no, it's been deactivated.
There is no information on their website nor online stating anything about them not using T-mobile any longer. I have saved screenshots showing this. They told me my only option is to buy a new phone from Consumer Cellular. Really?!? Of course, I will not fall for their SCAM, and I have cancelled my service with them. THIS IS FRAUD AND DECEPTION!
Your best bet is to stay away from consumer Cellular I should know I was one of them clients do not work or except anything from consumer Cellular. They will run your data up do not work with consumer Cellular this company is full of s*** they are not helping us old people.
C C sent a new SIM card for my phone as they are updating their services and mine will no longer be supported. Spent 1 hr 15 min on the phone with them trying to get the new card to work on my phone. NOW I have to pay $10 shipping for a replacement for THEIR faulty SIM card. And have no phone service until I receive the new card.
Consumer Cellular sent my daughter a new SIM card for her Iphone XR. (She had been using the phone on Consumer Cellular's network for the last 2 years.) (She needed a new SIM card because Consumer Cellular was switching networks from T-Moblie to ATT.) After she put in this new SIM card, her phone stopped working. Consumer Cellular told my daughter that she had to call Apple or T-Moblle to unlock her phone to work with her new ATT SIM card. Apple said they could not unlock it, only T-Mobile could. T-Mobile said that they would not unlock the phone (this was after they told us they would but it would take 3 days) because my daughter never had service with T-Mobile.) My daughter was without a phone for 4 days. (Between Consumer Cellular, T-Mobile and Apple - we had spent 5 plus hours on the phone.) I called Consumer Cellular (which I had been a customer of for 15 years) and told them to replace my daughter's phone which they refused to do. They told me to give them 3 more days to try and unlock it. I refused to wait three more days.
So I just got a text telling me I went over. Went online and my updated acct I fo says I used.81mg out 1gb allowed. I called customer service and within that 2 minutes of NOT USING ANY DATA my account texted me saying I have now used.83. CC makes their $ on auto upgrading people's accounts. You have to BEG them not to. They say they give warnings when you're close but that's a lie as well. Corrupt company.
I have been using Consumer Cellular for 7 years. It is the best cell phone service I have ever used. Customer Service is outstanding. Cost is half what other services charge!

Answer: Legit company Scam on service and what they advertise.
