Consumer Cellular is not only the worst cellular company I've ever worked with, they are the worst "company" I've ever worked with. And I went through quite a hassle to switch over to Verizon.
STAY AWAY!
Since consumer Cellular dropped their usage of TMobile tower's I have buffering like I did when I was with ATT, didn't have any problem with the T-Mobile towers! Bad decision
I acquired a phone for my mother over a year ago who is 93 years old and come to find out she won't even use it because it was so full of trash ads and was receiving txt messages and calls from nigerian scammers that I wasted close to $400.00 for one year of service. Never again will I use this trash service
Stay away. Was told my existing phone was compatible, paid to have SIM card sent and then find out my phone is not compatible but they refuse to refund the shipping charge for their useless SIM card. A huge disappointment. I was looking forward to a long time relationship with this company. Not now
After several days & attempts with more customer service employees then you could imagine, Joel answered our phone call. He was the only one who was able to give us the information we needed to unlock our mother-in-law's phone numbers so we could call her & she could call us. She is 93 yrs old & in an assisted living facility. She had no other way to contact us! After several falls & hospital visits it was a very scary situation. Thank goodness we found somone that knew exactly what to do! Thank you so much Joel!
Phone's purchased for my 93 yr old Mother are not made for the elderly. Chose to close account in January 2023 and proceed to re-install land line. Consumer Cellular was providing "Port Out" numbers to provide to AT&T to release her Phone Number which we were not able to accomplish. I went forward with getting New Phone Number and now 3 months later, Consumer Cellular will not close account and continues to bill my Mother because we did not Port Out and Close account. Terrible Customer Service
Consumer cellur is a scam. Poor customer service, when you can get it. Automated sytem won;t take youe code, so no customer service. Not acessable to seniors who are not tech savay or can't put in a code. They wn't send. Final invoice. After repeat;y telling them that sign in. Says call. I cmceled service still auto billing me. I called my bank and deputed the charge. Very poor company a ripoff. Rude reps. Stairway!
Poor communication - human & technical. I really don't feel they are real technical and are just reading flow-charts,
When 5G was introduced and 3 & 4G no longer worked, it was widely advertised that 4G LTE would still work. I have an LG phone that has 4G LTE, but Consumer Cellular cut off my service. When I called their customer service (a total of 5 times), each service rep insisted that my phone did not have it - it wasn't on their list, and I should buy a new 5G phone from them. None of them would listen to me, not even the guy who was obviously talking to me from his bathroom! I called LG twice and each time the rep assured me that my model phone used 4G LTE, as did the phone info that I could see. The last LG representative I talked to offered to do a 3-way call with Consumer Cellular, which we did. The CC rep refused to listen to her, and after 10 minutes of listening to them, I hung up. Later that night I started service with Mint Mobile, who assured me my phone is 4G LTE capable. They had the greatest customer service reps that walked me thru setup. I had been a Consumer Cellular customer for over 10 years; they only wanted me to buy a new phone from them. I wish I had reported them to state consumer protection. I'm still using the same phone in 2023 BTW! I wonder how many older people they pulled this stunt with?
It took quite a while and many phone calls to finally get my issue solved. To be able to get to someone who could actually handle the problem was very challenging. If you exchange a phone make sure you have documentation and photos in case someone drops the ball along the way.
I choose to leave this company due to budget concerns for a lower rate. The phone I completely paid for was lock and they would not unlock it so I can go with another company with a lower rate. The refused to do so claiming I owed a month worth of service even though it was pay as you go and was due to cancel in several days. I was completely paid up and now I have to but another phone which is an expense I had not budget. Company should not retaliate on customer when they choose to leave.
Refuse to honor warranties, take forever if trying to switch and get away from them. "Lose" calls after waiting on lo g hold times for customer service. Check out their Better Business Bureau complaints, too!
I lost my phone, have no access to email or text. They won't send my replacement phone without my ID.
Dear Ted Danson,
You ought to be ashamed of yourself representing Consumer Cellular. What a horrible company. After deciding to go with Consumer Cellular I had nothing but the worst service. Never got phone service and never will. I went through 7 representatives and the 7th one was a royal $#*!! A senior citizen should have to go through this horrid experience.
Seniors and everyone else stay away!
Had issues with consumer wireless. They said they supported my phone at start. But later determined they could not support it. I tried to collect on the guarantee and get my money back but due to some fine print they would not refund. I ended up going with Mint Mobile. Mint Mobile appears to be far superior with technology, website, customer service, number of bars at my house. And Mint Mobile is only $15 a month. My initial start with Mint Mobile is that I am impressed with their service.
I usually don't write reviews but this is one time i will make an exception ~i have been in customer service for over 6 years I applied for consumer cellular an received a call ASAP ( on a Saturday) the phone interview went great so because of my experience i was told id have another interview with someone else to discuss the right pay rate due to my experience, that interview was missed because they did not have my current email address which i should have made sure they had the correct one so that was my fault so the interview was rescheduled for that following Monday at 10am~over the weekend we took my 8 year old to the ER an found out he has asthma they gave him an inhaler an put him on a steroid~ Monday dropping him off to school in a rush to make it home to the interview I forgot to leave his inhaler with the school nurse, assuming i had enough time to turn around and make it home thats what I did ~i made it home at 10:05 tried to log in the Teams which it took me a few minutes to find the info in my email it was 10:07 an there was no answer i waited for 45 min on teams and sent a email to Tyler i was waiting an he emailed me right back an said because I logged in at 10:10 i missed the interview? Now im confused because even a real job gives a grace period or atleast understands things happen i emailed Tyler an asked what exactly does that mean? Does that mean im no longer a candidate? Because you were not specific in the response? NO RESPONSE? This isnt even a company i would work for or recommend anyone else to apply for i see why they have 1 star
Purchased the Verve Snap. Went through 2 phones in less than 5 months due to poor quality and unrealiability. No warranty refunds or credit offered on these defective phones. Poor signal strength. Poor low battery life, needs to be charged daily even if not in use. Consumer Cellular continues to take bank withdrawals for service even though service has been canceled. Which is in dispute as of now. One word = Nightmare!
When you sign up for a plan, make sure that your email address is correct. I did not so I cannot login into my account to set up my voice mail or see my bill. It took 2.5 hours to determine that was the reason. I have a cellular hook up for my landline. Then I was told it would take two weeks to activate the correct email address. Today I called because I did not get a promised back up call. I was told it may take another 15 days to get it to work. Finally I told them, if it is not fixed by date, I am going to cancel the service. I had to set up on autopay so they seem not to care because they get their money. The phone does work and the service is 1/3 of another providers but if I can't login into the account, I do not need to have the account.
I was totally taken advantage of. You need to watch them like a hawk to avoid being taken advantage of. At all cost DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER for monthly payment.
I'm very disappointed in you CC. I'm going back to Verizon.
Answer: You can get a hold of them but it's a moot point given the service they provide
Answer: Legit company Scam on service and what they advertise.
Answer: Probably not since they barely can get costumer service
