I don't have the energy to go into all the issues I've had or time I've spent trying to get them to do the right thing. Do yourself a favor and go through your local pharmacy if you can.
I am scheduled to pickup my OZEMPIC today, pharmacies tells me my provider express scripts is charging me $400. I cannot afford that. And it was less than $50 last month. Ozempic is not like vitamins (you cannot skip taking), its for diabetes. Is express scripts responsible if any fatal complications arises today or tomorrow?
What can I do? Insurance is not free. And its automatic deduction to our paycheck. Not cheap.
I also tried calling twice and no answer on phone- I am still on hold until now - 4:38pm eastern time 06-22-2021
I just today-19 June 2021- received a letter from Express Scripts dated June 3,2021. It uses authoritative sounding language: "In order to potentially save you time and money, some of your medications may need to be filled through a particular type of pharmacy." I am not going to do that, of course, because I have looked deeply into the company and some of the adverse views of people who do use it. But the language chosen by Express Scripts will doubtless cause some to erroneously think they have a legal requirement to follow the content of the letter being sent. This is a pest of a company.
I am complete shock that this company has any leg to stand on after reading other reviews of other customer experiences like mine. They mess up my prescription EVERY single time it goes to renew. I have to call and raise absolute chaos to get any point across and it STILL continues to be messed up everytime they touch it. I have spoken with management and they continued to tell me the issue was resolved and I will have no more issues. Well guess what... SAME PROBLEMS. Also, mind you they were releasing what medication my sister was on (also mind that she has a different last name, different address, and different INSURANCE PLANS). If that isn't breaking HIPPA violations, I don't know what is. I may just need to take it to someone else to explain my issues and have this company down in the dirt where they belong. If you could give them a zero star I would. Please don't ever waste your time to use this company for any medication.
Express scripts shipped an order out, which never got to my house. I was home the entire time, check my front door routinely and I am confiedent I never got it. I have never had a package stolen EVER, On the phone they told me they would ship it out again, and the next day I get a text saying they would not send it out at all. They will not contact fedex or UPS and will not file anything. I only called after 3 customer contacts through their website went un answered. Now I have to go on another medication, talk to my doctor about what we can do. What happened to my meds? This is a violation of HIPPA because they were probably delivered somewhere else or lost or? No answers, and no meds, and it is all my problem because they couldn't care less
This company solely exists to take your money. They will take your healthcare/insurance money willingly, but then turn around and refuse to fill your prescriptions because of their own internal guidelines. They make it next to impossible to get information about how to proceed with getting their decisions overturned. They will require prior authorization for your medication but won't tell you about it for days after your prescription gets rejected. They're absolutely horrible, and anyone working there should be ashamed of themselves.
If there is a credit on an account the company policy is to leave the credit there, regardless of amount or reason or length of time. There is no 30 or 60 day review. They want to hold your money whether earned or not.
Future payments are deducted from the credit balance until they receive a refund request.
After a refund request Express Scripts will review the account, not before. If they want then they will issue a refund.
Meanwhile... if there is a balance due, no death is good enough for you.
Express Scripts somehow received (and violated HIPPA laws) by obtaining a copy of one of my prescription medications as well as my pharmacy and store number and sent this information to me in a letter containing PHI via USPS. Since they already had my information I decided to give them a try. However, when attempting to refill a medication, they attempted to change the 30 prescription of a controlled substance to a 90 prescription without my (or my doctor's) knowledge, resulting in a delay of receiving my medication resulting in my running out of a medication which should never be stopped abruptly do to potentially life-threatening withdrawal symptoms. After 1.5 hours on the phone and 4 different people, they finally decided to dispense the prescription as originally written, but would not commit to overnighting the prescription, resulting in a situation of abrupt withdrawal and it's associated side effects. I've filed a review and complaint with the BBB regarding the HIPPA violation and poor customer service with potentially life-threatening consequences.
The website is glitchy. The automated phone tree is difficult to deal with. The human I finally got didn't even tell me their name. They only gave me a four day prior authorization on three months of medicine and then required ANOTHER prior authorization when I tried to refill it 30 days later even though I had refills. I can't remember the length of time on prior authorizations, but I know you don't have to do it every 30 days. No offer from them to correct the mistake. No solutions, options, or directions offered. Just an oh well. No notification for anything. Now I just get to pay them monthly for absolutely nothing. I am beyond frustrated.
I cannot even think of this company without my blood pressure going through the roof. (And thankfully I have those meds stockpiled, otherwise I would probably have had a heart attack from NOT getting my medication!)
My doctor has sent in my prescriptions no fewer than 10 times and they insist they are not getting them. That's funny, because CVS has them ready for me 3 hours later with no issue. Customer service is a joke, they can barely communicate verbally at all, and if you send them an email they send you the same stock answer which is "ask your doctor to send an e-prescription!" So they clearly haven't read my email that states outright that the presciptions have been sent 10 times. Today I literally watched WHILE MY DOCTOR sent them. It shows up in my medical record as requested. But Express Scripts INSISTS they have not received it.
One "customer service" rep said you have to send a fax, so I asked my doctor to send a secure fax... still nothing! Shall I send her on horse and buggy next to sign with a fountain pen? I'm tired of harassing the poor doctor and still paying 20% more to fill my prescriptions at an actual pharmacy.
Oh and one medication requires authorization. It is basically prescription strength fish oil and you would think it was an opioid the way they're trying to control it. My doctor sent the justification and they're just ignoring it, can't even get that one at CVS. Ludicrous.
THE WORST INSURANCE OF ANY KIND I HAVE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF DEALING WITH, and as you all know, there are many crap insurance companies out there.
Shanta seems to be the automated reply to any Express Scripts complaints. Evidently, this company is fraught with problems and complaints. Seems there is no oversight to a business that deals in controlled substances and prescription medications which is very surprising.
These crooks used to be Medco, and they had so many complaints and investigations, they changed their name tom Express Script. They kept the same criminal leaders and staff.
The government needs to sign a contract with another RX service. My doctor has electronically and faxed them the same RX 3 times and they still say they have not received it 2 weeks later. When you need prior authorization or a medical necessity approval they also put the documents in a dark hole and they have to be submitted at least three times. They say they respond to your inquiries within 24-72 hours, there answer is always not helpful you just get someone to listen to you and then agree with you and then they say they cannot find anything or cannot do anything. I am just saying I would switch but with Tricare this is my cheapest choice.
I can't say 1 good thing about this company. They lie to you, customer service is rude, they don't want to work with you, they change the prices & lie about the reasoning, medications don't come on time (can be extremely long waiting periods.) When you need your medicine to live, being late or not showing up is completely unexceptionable. There's tons of the same complaints on here & other sites like the Better Business Bureau. If they really cared about people they would've fixed this problem years ago, but they haven't.
If you life depends on getting your medicine on time & you enjoy living... DON'T USE THEM!
Express Scripts sent me a medication that cost over $100.00 more than my usual one because the pills come in capsules rather than tablets. I had always used tablets before and have been with my current doctor for 10 years. When I called my doctor to inquire I learned my doctor did not initiate any change; express scripts did and incorrected stated there was no difference whatsoever in the medicines. To top it all off I cannot use the capsules because they are individually packaged and at 80 years old my fingers are no longer able to do the precise movements. If I try with this kind of packaging the capsules fly all over. Express Scripts refused to take back the unused and unopened package of medicine they sent me; they claim this is my fault. If I could leave them over this dishonest treatment I would but my insurance requires that I use them.
Our insurance provider wants us to use Express Scripts so on Nov 3 contacted my dr and had him send refills to ES. I added my info to their on-line acct and then waited. 3 weeks and 4 phone calls later (speaking with reps I could barely understand) I am done. Yesterday I finally asked to speak to a supervisor and he agreed to credit my account the $261.23 I had paid for the refills which were still "on-hold". I then had to call my dr again who cancelled the refills and then faxed RiteAid to submit scripts to them. Never again with ES even if I have to pay a few $ more to use local pharmacy.
U call automated system ask u for ur info after all that the person on the phone ask the same questions. Nobody knows what they are doing. Every person gives me a different story. People transfer me to people I dont need to talk too. 1 lady says she needs a script then says she has the script. It was good a while ago but now they suck
The customer service is horrible. No one there knows what's going on at all. They lie to you & tell you your medicine is on the way when it's not. If you can use something else besides this please do! Just trying to save you a headache
Express scripts is 100% about profit. Not the patient. Example... 1. wife's Dr orders script she needs, express scripts deny coverage and then tell you (I am retired military) you can pay 1200. 00 to 1400. 00 for the script or your not getting it... even though the Dr stated this is the pill she needs... express scripts denied it... 2. dexilant... wife used for 10 years with basic copay... this year if she wants it 1200. 00 to 1400. 00 for the same 12.00 dollar bottle we got for 10 years... nothing else works... dr agrees... express scripts denies. Now, if you don't have insurance... the same meds are free or 30.00... this sounds fair... if your on welfare and sit on your butt all day with no insurance you can get the best price... if you served your country 21 years and retired enlisted... the med will be 1200. 00 to 1400. 00... the same amount as my disability checks from ssn disability... fair... no... do they care... no... it's a billion dollar biz... it's all about bonuses and rewards for the owners... for us... we just get crapped on... They did tell me I could stop using them... very caring folks.
ES changes your prescription with no notification to you, then they will not fill your prescription because it does not match what the doctor prescribed. Also periodically ES makes you get a new authorization (several times a year) from your doctor for your existing prescriptions, but ES does not notify you that a new authorization is needed until you try to pick up a refill and it costs $500 because ES decided you needed to jump through another hoop. This has caused my daughter to go through a few weekends with no medicine, because I pick up the medicine on Friday afternoons after I get paid. When I get to the pharmacy they tell me it has been denied by insurance but I can buy it for $500. So I sit on hold for several hours and get hung up on a few times before talking to someone that can't speak English, just to find out ES decided to require a new authorization from the doctor. By this time the doctor's office has closed and we have to wait until the next week for the new authorization to be completed. This company will cause people to die because they cannot get their medicine when needed.
Answer: Easy to get hold of, but a total waste of time, they will just give you their preprogrammed script and not listen to a word you say.
Answer: It's a legit company with the worlds worst service
Answer: No. And since hell would have to freeze over before I ever actually do purchase anything from Express Scripts I want to have a success story.
Answer: I pay a monthly charge which is part of my Medicare Supplement Insurance. The total premium is $439 a month but it also covers other charges Medicare does not. Then for each drug Express Scripts charges a maximum of $20 for 90 pills if generics are used. Non generics depend on the medicine; they can be much more expensive.
Answer: I had no choice, it is the only option through my employer.
